Those are modules. They ypatrch sounds out of the keyboard and expand the sounds/effects/instruments that you can us on the track. The purple one is either the Mo' Phatt or Planet Phatt. The thing right underneath is a Pro Tools unit. And A Mac screen. Not sure of all the other modules since I don't use much myself.

It's two different things..A movie and a cd (urban music) are different..Take someone that makes Classical music as a profession and put him in a studio and tell him to make a modern day hiphop song and see what you get..Same if you turned it around...The results would probably be "ok" but it most likely it would be as good as if they were make the style of music they're use to....I'm not classically trained nor am I implying that I'm good but it took me a while to learn how thing this simple.
