  • Every time a buckeye fan comes up to me and says Utah!!!!. I say Utah went to the Sugar bowl. they were good. but the Wolveirens will be back this year and kick butt 9-3 or 8-4

    GO BLUE!!!!!!!!

  • I live in utah and I went to that game.... But im a michigan fan

  • Gosh this editing was almmost as good as the team!

  • I said before this season started that I'd be happy with 6 U-M wins...in order to maintain their record of consecutive bowl games.

A lot of true-blue fans derided me...said we would get 9-10 wins for sure.

Well, I'll stick by my original point. I'm 47 and this is the WORST UM offense I've EVER seen. And I see no probability of improvement this year either.

If they lose to Notre Dame next weekend, forget about a bowl game this year; they won't get to 6 wins.

  • Fans like you make me sick. As alumni of Michigan i think maybe you should leave our fan base and cheer for Msu or Ohio state.

  • johnny: There are two kinds of fans. Realistic ones and dreamers. I'm the former, you're the latter. Both types are just as devoted.

I enjoy discussing strengths/weaknesses, tactics, etc. Dreamers deny anything negative, rationalize away unpleasant realities, and lie to themselves.

Did you see the Wisconsin game? The U-M offense in the 1st half was appalling. The Defense played well, and U-M pulled the game out (a minor miracle IMO) thank god.

But, is 6 wins possible? I still doubt it.

  • I am a believer in my school and team. The offense was bad in the 1st half but they made adjustments and won. All i saw was a young team not give up and pull out a victory. Hardly what i would call a miracle. I believe 6 wins is possible Threet and the offense just need to make plays and click.

  • Michigan will go 8-4 in 2009

  • mike: Well, this years schedule is the weakest I've EVER seen for Michigan, so you may be right. I'd be happy with 8 wins this year.

IMO it's going to take a couple of years for Rod to recruit his type of players and to get the spread offense clicking. Of more immediate concern is their new defensive coordinator; UM had solid talent on defense last year, but their coordinator sucked...and so did the defense.

Coach Rod still has time; but I want major improvement by around 2011.

  • i think Michigan may have a shot against Ohio State, cause OSU lost like everyone. Im hoping Michigan goes to the Outback bowl or something.

As long as it is a night time bowl game i will be happy.

  • JohnR22926: RichRod has recruited alot of his players to the team over the last two recruiting classes. He's broughten in Martavious Odoms, Michael Shaw, Terrance Robinson, Justin Feagin, Roy Roundtree, JeRon Stokes, Jeremy Gallon, Fitzgerald Toussaint, Vincent Smith, Teric Jones, almost 10 mobile o-linemen, and two dual threat quarterbacks in Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson. Michigan will go 9-4 in 2009 and will play like 05-07 WVU starting in 2010.

    Go Blue!

  • wolverine: yes, RichRod is recruiting hard. I've got two concerns though:

    1. To run the Spread you need speed. RichRod is recruiting speed...but at the expense of size/strength. I'm concerned about wear & tear in the very physical Big 10. Look at Sam McGuffie; a great athlete but just too small.

    2. Not enough 5 star recruits. Too many 2, 3, and 4 star recruits. Indicates to me he's not getting enough REALLY top talent.

But...we'll see. I remain cautiously optimistic.

  • That's true when it comes to his slot receivers and some of his tailbacks, but look at the o-linemen he's recruiting or all the defensive players he's recruiting: those guys are beastly! William Campbell is 6'5, 217. Taylor Lewan is 6'7, 272. Quinton Washington is 6'3, 315. He's also gotten some good sized skill position players (Darryl Stonum, Mike Cox, Michael Shaw, and Cameron Gordon come to mind). I think Richrod is recruiting plenty of size.

    Go Blue!

  • and htis years class we got miller jackson and robinson at wr all of them are 6"2 or bigger

  • thats soo untrue im tired of people saying he just keeps gettin small players are receivers in this class our really big for wr"S

  • I agree!!!! but I hopeing they will go 9-3

and beat the buckeyes so that they will shut up about winning and crap

  • johnnyv, where are you? No post here since the Illinois and Toledo games?

Let me recommend cheering for MSU or OSU for the next couple of years.

  • are you joking? I will never ever root for the Buckeyes or Spartans. All Spartan Players and fans are lower then whale shit.

  • And it's exactly because of UM fans like you that I hope RichRod falls on his face. Basketball has been disgraceful at UM so why not football, too?

I'm trying to remember the last time an MSU football player body slammed a hockey player into a cement walkway. It seems that just happened at UM over the weekend.

And, for the record, I'm very accomplished and respected in my community. All of the local school kids love me. So, I take issue with your broad swipe at MSU fans.

  • yeah it happened over an arguement over a girl. It happens all the time it just so happened to be a hockey and fb player. Don't be pissy you have a bad fb program that only shows up once a decade. Don't be jealous of our past that you don't have. As far as the swipe i am not judging you as a person just as a Msu fan. i am sure you are okay when you aren't wearing that ugly green and white.

  • johnny: Well, we now all know what happened in 2008. So...what's your prediction for 2009? I'll bet it's 10 wins and a Rose Bowl appearance! lolol.

But, I'm a true UM fan and am hoping for 8 wins to get them to a minor bowl game. And I'm giving Coach Rod a couple more years to get the mess straightened out. And I mean consistent top ten teams and in the hunt for BCS bowls.

  • Go Utes!!

  • Yeah, really man, it doesnt get any better than this. What??? Expectations at Missagain certainly arent what they used to be.

  • Expectations are always high @ Michigan. That's why you have fans out here talking Michigan going 10-2 and winning the B10 conference (high expectations) w/young, UN-expierenced freshman.

It's going to be ugly before it gets pretty!

  • scUM football is a joke this year. They looked terrible! DickRod will be gone in three years after taking scUM to worst dregs that they have been in for a long time. NO FUCKING BOWL GAME this year!!!

  • If Michigan goes to the Toilet Bowl this year, I'll be shocked. That said, I do agree that they're going to struggle a lot, but towards the end they should pick up solid wins against Northwestern and Minnesota, possibly blowout wins.

  • Dam Utah had a big ass running back.. that number 4.. Matt Asiata

  • Obie Ezeh is so fucking good..he is the next sensation

  • i thought we put memorable moments on theese? this isnt a great michigan moment!

but everyone knows the michigan transition will take time!!!

we'll be playing for titles again soon!

    go blue!

  • I am someone who grew up in a U of M household, and my feeling is the choice of Rich as coach was not a good one. He is just not a good fit for the program, and I am sure he will not be there all that long.

  • Just Wondering If Rich Rod Will Be Coaching In The Conference USA Or The MAC After He Fails In Michigan???? WVU Was Once A Defensive Power House Frauds Staff Lack's In The D And Appears To Have Some Trouble On Offense This Year Just Give Him Time To Find His "3 Plays" Then You'll Seem Them Over And Over All Year ... Don Nehlen Built WVU's Program 13 bowls and 17 winning seasons 1988 national title game... Buckeyes Own The Big 10

  • a good game what i expect for the first game...but our defensive line did really good 6 sacks....good 2nd half defense if we would have played like tht the whole game we would have won but we didnt but IT WAS THE FIRST GAME CANT EXPECT MUCH EX WHEN FACING A GOOD OPPONET IN UTAH...and i was at this game....BUT ANYWAYS GO BLUE!

  • You know that crappy Big Ten conference we play in? It is currently the 3rd toughest conference in football behind the SEC and Big 12.

    Utah? whatever.

  • Suckeye(cherriozero),don't you have anything better to do other than troll UM posts and talk shit? You're all over Michigan posts with your hillbilly jibberish, Good Lord!

Your pussy-ass RB is out of the lineup AND the big test in L.A. is coming up!I'd shut those dicksuckers until your team proves they even deserve to be in the top 5!

Again, we ALL know if the Chokeyes had balls & opened to Utah, they would have bombed it bad! Utah runs the spread, which means you would lose!Get a life loser!

  • Michigan fans this is the best you'll see under Rod and his white trash crew. You won't return to winning until hes gone. You get what you deserve. He a nasty person and isn't ever happy with ANYTHING that you do for him. Hes a liar and trashed his legacy at WV. I can't wait for his assistants to bolt after this year and leave him all by himself.

  • ur just a fuckin wvu fan..go to hell width out him u wouldnt have went to 2 bcs games so yea...

  • you must be a west Virginia fan . boo hoo you lost your coach who built your program up . now he is going to build up our program and win us a couple national titles ! GO BLUE ! you suck ! your an ignorant football fan who knows nothing . he needs time to get his recruits in there genius ! of course there not good this yr with loyd carr's recruits . they aren't built for rich rod's system . it's a rebuiling yr . so go do me a favor and go hit yourself you ignorant fan !

  • No, I am not an ignorant former fan. I actually live beside of some of his former staff and now they can speak openly about how unhappy and mean spirited he really is. You really don't know what your program is in for.

  • After seeing this, which is absolutely no surprise to me, Michigan is likely to lose to the following:

    Notre Dame

    Wisconsin

    Illinois

    Penn State

    Michigan State

    Ohio State

    They are likely 5-7.

  • Actually, I see the schedule going like this, and this is what I've been calling for for a good while. Utah - L Miami (OH) - W @ Notre Dame - W Wisconsin - W Illinois - L Toledo - W @ Penn State - L Michigan State - W @ Purdue - W @ Minnesota - W Northwestern - W @ Ohio State - L That's 8-4 and a trip to the Outback Bowl.
  • What are you smoking, did you even see the game. Miami-W but who knows ND-Fuck that, u wish= L Wisconsin-not a chance L Illinois-HAHA L Toledo-see Miami Penn St.- L Michigan St.- R u kidding L Purdue- L Minnesota- maybe W Northwestern- they r not that bad L and ohio st-LLLLLLLLL Which comes out to 3-9 and a trip to unemployment for RichRod
  • I don't see Michigan going to the Toilet Bowl this year, but who knows? I thought they did a good job against an experienced and underrated Utah team. I know it wasn't as close as the score, but it was also RichRod's first game as a Michigan head coach. The only other guaranteed losses I see are to Penn State and Ohio State, and a probable loss to Illinois. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if they lost to Wisconsin or Notre Dame. This will be a step back for Michigan, but no worse than 7-5.

  • More like what the hell are you smoking? There's no friken way we'll lose to Michigan State, PurDON'T, Northwestern (Ya the odds are still small for Northwestern), We will handle Minnesota, We absolutely own Penn State (We friken beat them with RYAN MALLET!), Notre Dame is pathetic, I agree about Wisconsin but I still wouldn't say NO chance, Illinois is a maybe. You have to remember, that was the FIRST game of the year, all of the tough games are later in the year, we'll be more comfortable then

  • Here's how I see it, Michigan beats Northwestern, Sparty, Notre Dame, Miami(OH), Toledo, Northwestern, Minnesota, and a close win over Wisconsin. I wouldn't count out Penn State, though, Iowa was owning Penn State until last year, but then were humiliated in Beaver Stadium, and then they DRILLED Wisconsin in Happy Valley. I also see a loss to Ohio State for Michigan this year. Michigan is rebuilding, Ohio State has mostly upperclassmen, and it's a road game. I also see a close loss to Illinois.

  • Great..another prophecy from a Penn State fan(MVillani1985).I think you need to be more worried about your troubled players and how Joepa has no control over his team!Another 2 arrested! What's the tally now? 48 arrests since 2002?The most telling number (UM vs.PSU) is 12. As in it will be 12 years this fall since Penn State last defeated Michigan. I agree, we're stumbling right now, but we have a few weeks to get it ironed out! Utah is a much tougher opponet than YSU and Coastal Carolina,C'mon!

  • Of course, Penn State is the only football program where the players get in trouble. It's well known that all other NCAA teams are throwback academician athletes. You and I both know that JoePa can't follow every player around, but at least he did kick the disturbing elements off the team. Utah is definately a lot better than YSU and Coastal Carolina, but Michigan is going to stumble this year. Remember until last year Iowa was owning Penn State. And remember what happened to Iowa last year.

  • AND you and me both know that the Coach, whether he be 83 years old or not, is responsible for his players.

In regards to your statement,"Michigan stumbling like Iowa",no way in hell does Michigan Football fall like Iowa, thats comparing apples to bowling balls! I think "in secret" you WISH Michigan to have a season like Iowa.

It's not going to happen, at least not the way you "see it". I'll worry about PSU when UM doesn't win for over 12 seasons! Until then...WE OWN..PENN STATE!

    GO BLUE!

  • And he kicked them off the team. He's not making excuses for them. But I'd expect that kind of jab from a fan of a rival school.

I don't see at this point why some Michigan fans think that it's going to be 1997 all over again, even after the loss to Utah. You're not going to walk into Happy Valley and just stomp all over Penn State. Michigan's going to struggle this year, and even though you might be great in a couple years, you're expecting too much out of freshman players.

  • I'm not taking "jabs",it's called FACTS!

And I'm not delusional,I realize Michigan has a lot of freshmen on it's roster this season and it probably will be a average season. I certainly don't think Michigan will come into State Penn and "whoop" them. All Michigan's wins will be EARNED!With all the QB mistakes(freshman mistakes),UM didn't deserve or"earn"a win over Utah. That said, this is Michigan,we have talent where expierence lacks, and will only get better as the season continues!

    GO BLUE!

  • No, it's mostly opinionated potshots mixed with a kernel of news. But whatever.

Anyways, I think 8-4 or at worst 7-5 is going to be the story this year. Now I agree that in 2010 and 2011, possibly also 2009, there's a good chance that Rodriguez will have made Michigan into another West Virginia. But I think in 2008 your best games will be a defeat of Wisconsin and a big win over Michigan State. I see an Outback Bowl berth for Big Blue, or maybe the Alamo Bowl, but not the Toilet Bowl.

  • "mostly opinionated potshots mixed with a kernel of news"?

Ok,so you must be like the rest of the State Penn fans..delusional!

All I posted was that Joepa has no control over the players at SPU(fact).

Since '02, State Penn has over 48 football player arrests(fact).

Michigan hasn't lost to State Penn in 12 seasons(fact).

    Michigan's stumbling right now(fact).

The deed to beaver stadium is in the coach's office desk drawer at Schembechler Hall(pop-shot)!

    See the difference?

    GO BLUE!!!!!!

  • You said that JoePa has no control over his players, apparently he does, or else they'd still be on the team getting into MORE trouble. I'm not sure what you want him to do, follow them around? Recently, Florida State, Iowa, Georgia, and Colorado have had criminal problems from players, including sex crimes, drugs, assault, and armed robbery. And don't forget that most of the 48 football player arrests were over summary offenses. Only the more serious handful make the news.

  • If following them around is what it takes, then YES!

Example of a coach having control over his players. When RR got the job in Ann Arbor, he actually went to the bars in Ann Arbor, found some of his players in them and made them leave. Call it being a dick, but I think it's called having control over your team. Look, I realize the stuff happens all-over(even at Michigan), I just think it's about time for the icon Joepa to pass the "buck"! At what point will it be clear to the rest of you fans?

  • JoePa does a lot of things besides coach football, so he doesn't have time to go into bars and kick the players out. He just gets word of the incidents and takes action. None of the misbehaving players were playing today anyway.

But still, I'm not concerned about Penn State this year. Winning 45-14 over Oregon State says to me that Joe must stay.

  • Yeah, the team that got beat by Stanford...

  • USC lost to Stanford last year, but still decimated Illinois, who beat Ohio State in the Horseshoe. Does that mean Stanford would have hammered Ohio State? Nope. I don't think Oregon State is on par with USC, but they will probably be a 7-5 team this year and probably go to some pre-Christmas bowl. But still, it isn't that we beat Oregon State, we absolutely DECIMATED them. And I'm pretty sure that Oregon State is better than Miami (OH) or Ohio (teams Michigan and Ohio State struggled to beat).

  • I agree with you 100%

  • You are so unaware of Michigan football. Please leave, you are an ass wipe. Michigan will go 9-3, maybe 10-2. You have no idea. You have no knowledge about Michigan whatsoever. It was the first game. RR's first game, everyone was nervous, but now they're over it. Did you see Michigan in the second half? We will play like that, even better as the season goes on. You'll see.

  • Michigan will finsih 2-10. They'll lose to Minnesota in a 2TD loss, and that win voer Toledo will come in overtime

  • Funny you should pick wins in the ND and Michigan State games...they will lose those by a combined 30-40 points.

Michigan has no and I mean NO offensive weapons...and the defense isn't very good either.

  • i agree for the most part . but i think the michigan state game could be a toss up game . and notre dame was terrible last yr . i know they will be better this yr but i still don't know how good they are . we will find out when they open up their season this saturday

  • Utah won. Appalachian State won. will the redhawks pull it off too? i hope so. GO BUCKS!

  • fuck you , the fuckeyes , and terrel pryor . i hope we brake his leg when we play him . GO BLUE !

  • Hey,tboneum10 The Utes last second woes against BYU are because they can't cover BYU's recievers.

  • haha michigan lost they stink

  • yeah it's a rebuilding yr . they aren't suppost to do outstanding so you can go walk into on coming traffic . GO BLUE !

  • I was not there yesterday. GO BLUE!!!!!

  • i was there to i am a michigan fan and expect more out of the offense and give credit to the utes offense in the first half. But I think threet will be the QB this year four uofm. All the credit goes to the utes they were the better team and I hope they beat byu this and not get screwed in the past on those last second plays. GO BLUE!!!!!

  • I was there yesterday! GO UTES!
