i have to say, that while i do realize that Millar is very cliche and simple, i dont read his books in order to really be intrigued by story and takes on ideas in the medium. Its like a brain-break for me. Its like when I get tired of seeing movies like Pans Labyrinth, Eternal Sunshine, or No Country for Old Men, and I got out to see a Mission Impossible or Micheal Bay film. Its a "pop-corn" book

Podcasts? You guys have a blog? Doesn't 90% of the comic reading world have a blog? But they don't have good comic video reviews on YouTube. You guys are incredibly harsh yet very funny and entertaining. Not every reader has read every single comic ever written. Ownership is derivative, well hell if that were the case we wouldn't have had Star Wars.

Just curious, how can they own a rip off character? Didn't DC sue over the likeness of Captain Marvel to Superman? Why won't they sue over Nemesis being like Batman?

Also, you gotta be kidding me that there are 2 books both called Nemesis coming out in March!? At least DC's Nemesis already existed, and for crying out loud Batman is in issue #2 of the DC version haha. Way to go being original Millar! So neither the character nor the comic title should be theirs.

It's funny, the last thing I ever read from McNiven or Millar was Civil War #7... which one of the dumbest endings to a series I'd ever seen. We never go that unmasking story and Captain America went wimpy on us.

Here's my review of Nemesis #1 it's like a vagina eating it self it's rare, but that's what's it looked like. So, if Kick-Ass is shit then I guess Nemesis is diarrhea?

@comicculturewarrior I have a cold and I think the cough medicine is kicking in and I 'm in kind of a bad mood. So, yes I think millar is writing shit lately (fanboy fiction)and it seems like no one is willing to call him on it. I rather take a good Tony Daniel than a bad Mark Millar and I can't believe I just said that. Either way I am losing out.

@comicculturewarrior The thing about Mark Millar for me is he turned me off to his writing with Wanted I'm sorry after reading that I had to set it on fire and send it back to Hell. I liked his Red Son and his run on the Authority but other then that it was down hill and if Eminem pops up at the end of Nemesis to tell me what his face looks like while he is fucking me in the ass than I call bullshit, because I just don't get it.

After much deliberation, i've come up with a comparison.

The CBC are the Larry King of comic reviews, spewing fluff, afraid to offend "sponsors"

The CCW are the Howard Stern of comic reviews, not afraid to tell it like it is.

The 'evil genius tormenting a city with no real opposition' was originally done in the French FANTOMAS silent movie/serials (where Mike Patton's band got their name)

He did things like put poison in mass-produced perfume bottles, so I guess thats where Bob Kane took inspiration re: The Joker

Nemesis is just a Batman piss-take though, for maximum-uber-ultra-violent-ove­rkill-effect. It's just trashy fun for people who want that from comics (...or screenplays).

Almost picked up the guild last week, it a story I know I would like, however something about the art was rubbing me the wrong way and I ended up not getting it. But after the positive review from guys I think I will take another look at it this week.

Nemesis just made me laugh when it got to the Air Force One part of the story. If Nemesis has superpowers fine, but if he is just suppose to be a psyco version of Batman then ghost riding on the hood of of Air Force One is, well, stupid..

i enjoyed nemesis for what it was worth. I was surprised by McNiven's art which really made the book for me.

McNiven, like Andy Clake, has spent so much of his art career aping Travis Charest that it was a little refreshing to see him move away from that a little.

Old Man logan was a step in the right direction, and his art on Nemesis was more in the ballpark of what he needs to be doing.

@SuG2763 I agree Yu is way better than McnIven, but when Yu was on NA, he was just chicken scratching cuz Marvel was too lazy to get an inker for his work. But in Secret Invasion when Yu's pencils were being inked by Mark Morales, it was BEAUTIFUL. In Nemesis, McNiven's art looked alot like Yu's NA art, and that dissapointed me.

First off I want to say overall I agree with what you guys said, but I have two points of contention.

A)Originally Batman was a knock off of a pulp character called the Spider, and slowly evolved into something different. Not to say this justifies it, but I think it's only fair to bring up that point.

B) Batman isn't white? That's news... OH, nevermind.

@agent42q actually Batman was also taken from the pulp character "the Shadow", suffice it to say he had many influences. Just like Doc Savage influenced Superman. But they didn't look identical. I would say the key words are influence verses copied.

I hated Nemisis and I just am tired of shitty comics, just tired of creators not giving a fuck about what they put out. Guild Comics was funny and creative and fun, good job on that :) I too believe that this is what "girl comics" should be like, not the other piece of crap from a few weeks ago
