The last time I went railfaning on the New Castle Sub I was at edinburg Pa just east of Lowellville Ohio I saw a BNSF coal train like the one in this video it had the same coal cars and everything. Is that a daily thing on this line?
The U994 should run daily. It only runs as far east as Monaca, PA. It's counterpart used to be the U995, but now the U994 handles both the east and westbound trains. I have seen up to three U994's in one day. So, yeah, U994 is a pretty common thing. :)
The New Castle Sub handles 20-25 trains per day. Sorry for the late reply by the way. There are about 1-2 trains per hour. It is a nice, laid back, train line.
I don't remember exactly, but I go there quite frequently. My grandma used to live there. She was there for 4 years. I lived in Ravenna for 11 years, but now I live south of Akron.

I'm pretty sure normal BNSF Cream and Green SD70MACs don't do what the lead unit on U994 was doing... Ever.

No, all of these trains were shot between MP 107 in Charlestown, OH and MP 122 in Munroe Falls, OH on the CSX New Castle Subdivision.

Great Job. and I have counted up to 35 trains in a 24 hour period before, so it is possible to see more then just 25.

Yeah, I have seen about that many in 24 hours too. One is passing by my house right now. :D

"as to your knowledge". Wtf do you know? Jeez it's a burned out ditch light. Get a life foamer.

What was the number on the lead BNSF Sd70MAC at 4:55? That flashing ditchlight is very odd, as to my knowledge, no BNSF SD70MACs had this feature.

I remember you telling me that before. Maybe we can go railfanning sometime if you're in the area.
JustinMetallicA 4 years ago
Yeah, of course. I railfan whenever possible. :)

There could've been more, 5245 was on Q261 (not filmed) and 5212 and 5219 were on Q135 (blocked by another unfilmed train).
