I met Andre when I was in BC for the Olympics. I was standing in the rain and he came up and asked if I minded if he set up shop there. Standing there in the rain listening to him play and tell his stories was the highlight of my entire trip. His music never gets old no matter how many times I play his CD.

i saw andre today and he is not doing well. he has cancer and is on the streets. this morning he woke up to find his shoes and glasses stolen so he is nearly blind. if you can, please make a point of stopping by his usual haunts at granville and dunsmuir or the steamwhistle in gastown to share some love and maybe some money. he really needs both badly right now. he is in desperate need of a home. if you have even a garage, it's better than sick in the streets.

I am so glad that I found this video.

I enjoy listening to Andre's music every time I go downtown, and always hope that when I reach the top of the Granville station stairway, he'll be there. I finally bought one of his CDs a couple nights ago, and I feel like it's the one and only thing that I own that really touches my heart the most.
