with tuning proper idle and fuel mapping is acheived throghout rpm band for max Hp and fuel economy, with stock tuning it would idle @ 650 to 700 and you could tell it wasn't enough rpm. I didn't ever actually drive with stock tuning.
I'll probably be getting this cam in a few months along with bolt on's and drag radials.
But you said this cam is fine for daily driving. What about with bolt on's. Will i need a new rear end? I plan on driving this car pretty hard this summer.
Btw you wouldn't know a good set of gears would you i'm looking at 4.10's (maybe?) don't know much about the gears.
for hard driving, i'd look into a 12 bolt. idk if i said in this thread or not, but good valve springs and a set of 1.6 roller rockers, and some chromemoly pushrods. i'd look into getting bigger injectors and a bigger throttle body. those arent required but will help, and do all the seals in the timing chain cover. i think someone makes a single roller timing chain, i'd get that. dont know how old your water pump is but look into that since it will be off, and it will be asked to spin higher now
sorry so long to reply. the driveability of it is great, I drive everyday to work. no surging or idle issues. Gas mill. is 15.5 to 16mpg city and 22mpg on highway. I aalso run the AC with no probs.
hey i noticed you have a 97 for some reason when ever i look up this cam it says its only available for 93-96 LT1s is there some kind of problem i will run into if i put this cam on my 97 Z28
I had the 847 in my old car. Nasty cam to say the least. Only problem was the around town cruising. It had a 6-speed trans and city driveability sucked. It was a great cam as long as you kept your foot in it. :-)
hey man im heading to summerville GA this weekend close to rome and dalton GA you a local or anything close to 1 of them places id like to check the car out in person i also have a lt1 with the lt4 build up
I see that you are from GA! Me too, sounds great! Ever ran it down at commerce? Oh, yeah pinks all out is coming to commerce in june, thought you might like to know since your not far from it( the drag strip in Commerce, GA)!

306 cam is fine for dailly driving with a 6 speed. will definitely require tuning for automatics though.

you'll be fine. the reason they do the years like that is because they are basing it off the corvette. remember those got LS1s in 97.
slowpoke96Z28 3 years ago
lt1s were in the 93-97, not 96...
