Paul's opposition to circumcision is a little bit suspicious to me. If people want to get circumcised, why not let them get circumcised? He says in Galatians 5:6 "neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value."
I understand being neutral about circumcision (and the Law in general) but he's saying greeks SHOULD NOT get circumcised.
@KayBeeEee1983 I think he's saying that being circumcised wont be the whole reason to keep you out of Hell...Paul said let it be a shame for a man to have long hair.....Did not Solomon lose his strength when he cut his hair...The Letters and the Scriptures are two diff. things.
@CassiusAli3000 No one, Jew or Christian, has ever thought that circumcision alone will keep you out of hell, it's just one of the many Mosaic laws.
Galatians 5:2-3 "Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law."
BTW, it was Samson who lost his strength when he lost his hair, not Solomon.
@KayBeeEee1983 Lol...Thanks for the correction...it was Samson..my mind if full info. I aint knockn circumcisn..jus sayn..Alot of People have a problem w/ understanding Paul..
@yarbabez Paul didn't know Jesus, and when Paul received his supposed revelation, he didn't even go to see Jesus' disciples to make sure that his revelation was actually from Jesus rather than Satan. And what do you mean the vast majority of essential Christian teachings are from Paul? He wrote no more than 13 letters, which is less than half of the new testament.
Paul knew Luke and Peter, those are just two affirmed bonds with the Disciples (save Luke) of Jesus and the surrounding community. The simple facts are that the Christian community eg the Jerusalem Church profusely approve of Paul. Don't let objectivity be thrown out of the window because of personal dislikes. A Christianity lacking Pauline theology is a vastly new Christianity indeed.
love it, hit the issue head on. You have to love Paul and what he stands for. Love how Paul makes his point and brings it almost aggressively across so that the Galatians understand what he means

@CassiusAli3000 It seems like Paul is making stuff up as he goes.

Deny Paul and you deny the vast majority of essential Christian teachings. Such as salvation by faith and not works of the law.

@yarbabez Paul's teachings aren't Christian.

@KayBeeEee1983
Of course they are. I think you just have a personal dislike of Paul, and discredit the scriptural works that have come through him.
