  • Lovely, so refreshing to hear. Great job

  • Where's the banjo?

  • Fantastic )

  • I enjoy bluegrass like this rather than like super country hickish bluegrass. I like the bluegrass that sounds like you're riding a horse around a scary mountain in a thunderstorm. Any suggestions on artists I should look for? I like Sarah Jarosz.

  • @Mariezee44 Hmmm...Maybe Iron Horse, Cherryholmes, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Vassar Clements, or Nickel Creek. It's hard to say. You can make mp3s by using zamzar dot com.

  • @Mariezee44 Look for Nate Leath, Tatiana Hargreaves (her brother Alex playes with Sarah Jarosz among others), Bruce Molsky, Chris Thile, Michael Daves, Crooked Still, The Duhks and if you want more old timey also Tim Eriksen, Riley Baugus, John Hartford, Tommy Jarrell ...

  • @Mariezee44 STEELDRIVERS!

  • enjoyed the post ty

  • Fine playing!

    ~Cats and the Fiddler

  • wow you're inspiring me to learn a whole new set of songs

  • i wish i could play the fiddle

  • THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEROGIA

LOKKIN FOR A SOUL TO STEAL

  • Fantastic, reminds me of the Devon style music here in the UK. Look up Show of Hand and see what I mean :0)

Keep up the brilliant work guys

  • oh! boy! if mikila see's this one ,shewill go bonkers wanting to learn it! super job, thanks for the great music

  • Charlie Daniels aint got nothin on you girl..

  • vive les bretons..:)

  • i have enjoyed your vidieos many times over. but i was wondering what careers the girls chose .did they follow in your foot steps?

  • Emily, the fiddle player, just got her masters degree in elementary teaching. She is now looking for a job. Molly will be a junior this fall, and she is hoping one day to be a physical therapist. I taught fifth grade for many years.

  • Great Day in The Morning !!! Woooooo!

    Ya'll got it going on.....5 Stars !!!!

  • Anyone who says this is fake just needs to see some more irish folk. Look up frankie gavin if you're interested. Even I play at this speed sometimes.

  • Yes. There are many, many violin/fiddle players who can play a lot faster than this.

  • Hi - I loved the way you played it. Not excatly as I do it, but I like it. I have been trying to catch the shuffle in the B part. Is that some variation on b-g-b ?

    thanks

  • I really have no idea. I do know that we play it wrong. I don't have a recorded version of the tune, so I just hummed it to Emily as best as I could remember it, and this is the result.

  • this song sounds like the intro from 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia'... Maybe it was based on this?

  • Good observation. I believe it was the other way around, though. "Devil..." was based on this song.

  • the tune is just moved up an octave

  • I think they just played really fast, no special effects added.

    Good Job Mr. Greer!

You and your... Daughter? Emily did a wonderful job. The higher notes, however, seemed to be a bit off.

    It's okay though! You're amazing!

Both of you, just splendid :)

  • Track guy? Emily was a track girl in HS. Her best race was the 800. Her best time was 2:20.07 She has several medals from the state HS track meet.

  • it wasnt fake, i can do that too, its just hard

  • I love this song, and it sounds great. It's a shame you had to speed it up. What program did you guys use?

  • I don't know if Emily has ever heard any other fiddle player play this one. I just "sang" it to her as I remembered it, and this is what came out. We were just using a Sony digital camera, if that's what you mean by program.

  • nice work !!!!

  • Love it!

  • OK, these guys are goin so fast that it looks fake.... either that or it is. They thanked me.... i..... am.... a...... MUSIC LOVER!!!!!

  • If you have seen some of their other videos it is obvious that Emily is very talented and can play well and fast.

  • great job.

    Thanks from Canada.

    music is fun.

  • i just love this song, i wish i could find music bands playing this style

  • you are absolutely right!

  • you two are a fantastic musical pair!!!

  • woww i couldnt stop listening to this

    good job!

  • reminds me of the song, the devil went to george, still pretty good though

  • That could be because Charlie Daniels stole the main theme from another song. I think it was a symphony.

  • Vassar Clements wrote Lonesome Fiddle Blues back in the 1950's, Charlie stole the melody from him. (Now it's called "sampling", not stealing)

  • I think that's right. What Emily does here is probably closer to what Daniels did, because "Devil..." is one of her favorites songs.

  • reminds me of the devil went to georege?

  • Wow! that's all i can say

  • That was pretty awesome gal, but remember, faster isn't always better, all the same though, Freakin amazing job!

  • Learned by ear also? Then I'm impressed ;-)

  • Evarything we do is learned by ear. It is limiting at times, however.

  • Where is the watch????

  • i lovethe entire thing and i love the background , i live in the country too and i just love the outdoors !! ^^

  • Nice music!

I also liked the Carolina Wren singing at the end of the song! Where did you record that number?

  • We recorded it in our front yard in SW MO.

  • Cool! That is getting to the western edge of the Carolina Wren's range (Thryothorus ludovicianus). Fine music and great bird.

Thanks for all the great songs! I love to pick along with you on all your numbers.

  • Wow!Great!

  • please come to the tulare county (ca.) fair.

  • Wow that song is amazing! You both play very good. I am 16 yrs old and would like to be able to play such a cool song :D

  • not too bad , not too bad - love the girl :)

  • wow. great music, she has talent and the look to be pro.

  • Hello yourself. I can't figure out who you are, but I am guessing that you are a former student.

  • Hi, is Emily your daughter? You mention in one of your videos that she has a CD, were is it available? Does Emily have a website? Nice tune, thanks for posting!

  • Yes, Emily is my daughter. I sent you a message from your site. My website is banjophil d0t com.

  • DUDE that chick is hot

  • @jxwhee You take that back; that's my sister and our Grandpaw..

  • was that the devil went down to georgia or am i going crazy?

  • I have heard that Charlie Daniels got his idea for the fiddle part for "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" from this song, but I don't know of it's true or not. They are quite similar, though.

  • hey this mary again and i love the way that u play

  • marry me....

  • Great job on the tune. If you look up "Kummerle" on youtube I'm playing guitar there. Also, I figured blues was more about blue notes (b3,b5,b7) than key signature.

  • really nice sound, i like it, keep playing, i will lern it on my accustic guitar.. =) greez jules

  • I like this one a lot, also remember that "The devil went down to Georgia" is a blues also.

  • as said above, not really blues if it isn't in key of E or A, but still a good job. any new videos coming?

  • It will be a few weeks before we can do any more. Emily is away at college.

  • I love it very much, Make more.

  • Very Very good, never give up.

  • Great fiddlin' and some great guitar backup too. As you already know, traditional Blues is defined by the "12 bar blues progression". I do like the relative minor chords that are in this song.

    Keep on fiddling.

  • That doesnt sound like a blues tune. Great Job on that Shuffle bowing emily.

  • I agree. I always figured that the word "blues" in this title referred to the minor key and faraway mood, rather than to the particular style of music known as blues.

  • I will have to post my version of Florida Blues but here's what I think of as "blues". I used someone else's version because I havent loaded one yet. youtube . com/watch?v=XdY6gY5DTZE

  • Great Job Emily. I like that tune!
