poor matt. dude gets his head held, arm inexplicably tugged on, and has to stand around looking uncomfortable. doesn't even get a line of dialogue. didn't even find out if all that helped in any significant way. "errr, thanks lady?"
I recommended The Intention Experiment because it contains many references to verifiable evidence...
I personally know a very gifted healer who demonstrated healing ability 6 times under lab conditions (double blind tests) at London Uni. Yet the experiment was dismissed by 'Nature' BEFORE they received any details!
I'm all for proper research and verification but the power of drug companies makes this difficult when it comes to alternative health.
Sure, a doctor will fix you just as Michael Jackson was fixed (God rest him in peace!) or the kids who commit suicide after being put on antidepressants, or people dying in agony while being treated by doctors.
"Alternative" medicine is teaching you to prevent all those horrible diseases, most induced by our great food industry poisoning us every day with their chemically produced "food", and doctor's treatments with chemicals that put billions of dollars in the pharmaceutical industry hands.
What about the MILLIONS of people who are treated with little to no side effects? If you are attempting to argue that perscription drugs are bad, then I am sorry to inform you that you are sadly misinformed. What does the crappy food that we eat have to do with alternative medicines like this? We're talking about cures, not prevention. Clearly, the medical system needs some reform, but there is simply very little evidence showing and positive affect beyond what would be obtianed by placebo.
Please read about the 'placebo' effect, also, I would not dispute the effeccacy of meditation, or other relaxation techniques. That is where any benefits derived from this would be.
I suggest YOU read The Intention Experiment by Lynne McTaggart. You could also read the Barbara Brennan (ex NASA scientist) books for information about healing energies.
I am VERY well read on the placebo effect btw. Perhaps I might add that I have 27 years experience of alternative approaches to health and have seen far too much to share your viewpoint. Subtle energy is very real and is the science of the future.
How can you possible say with conviction that Eden's methods are merely meditation or relaxation techniques. Such an assumption is the very opposite of true scientific method.
Try the five minute routine for 10 days. I dare you!
You're directing me to the intention site? Why? What does this prove? I say, that the benefits of her technique do not extend past those achieve by any other method of meditation or relaxation. There is no evidence, there is no high rate of recovery, in short, any evidence is anecdotal, and unsupported by scientific research. All "good intention" and prayer studies have had results that are no better than chance.
Yes, it is. If you look at individual studies you find that the statistics appear above chance. This is expect, especially when you review other studies, which show an average below mere chance.
Well have a look at Dean Radin's work with random number generators. That went on for years using thousands of instances!
My healer friend who I mentioned made pre poisened cress seeds germinate six times out of six. Those seeds in the control group that did not receive healing energy all died! The odds of that happening by chance are actually millions to one.
Why have none of these studies been published? What is posted on the website does not fulfill what would be accepted generally as a study. This is hardly evidence.
Yes I'm aware of that. He answers many of the common criticisms in the youtube vid: "Science and the taboo of psi"
I wasn't being facetious btw when i suggested you try the 5 min routine. I believe that once a person has vivid experience of subtle energy for themselves it becomes less important to obtain 'proof'.
The proof IS there already to some degree and will be added to once the scientific community relax their prejudices...
When we are discussing quantifiable claims, quantifiable evidence is required. I could pray to a piece of soapstone, and whatever anecdotal experience i garner from that does not hold weight.
Believe it or not, I did in fact go through two levels of usui reiki, and after much thought I decided that nothing was in fact happening.
Hello again, with the understanding that there are unseen natural laws in effect i.e. gravity, electricity, et al, we are ever bound by their effects whether we believe in them or not.
So... with that, if one believes in random good or bad fortune, that persona is then not recongizing or understaning that they are ever bound to the effects of the natural laws of the universe, whether they believe it in its existence or not.
Yes I agree... An actually non random event can easily appear random if one does not perceive the underlying pattern (or 'law').
It must be said, though, that many events, while not random at all, are surely often the outcome of a very complex 'convergence' of 'patterns' that are somewhat beyond a normal human's ability to recognise!
That's why I like BIG numbers. The pattern becomes easier to recognise... In coin flips, two heads out of three is not significent, but 999 out of 1000 certainly is!
I believe that physics and (so-called) metaphysics would come together if there was less prejudice in the scientific community. It will happen, I believe, eventually!
ps. If you do try the energy routine, make sure you find the location of the points accurately. Best to check out the separate vids as well as the 'routine' vid.

Hmmm, yeah that's why they pay real doctors, who really know about the systems of the body through med school and residencies and who actually try to treat problems practically, the big bucks, and these amicable loonies must make ends meet with seminars and CDs. L.O.L.
Thank you Donna Eden! Thank you 'ananama1' for sharing this with us! This energy work is integril to maintaining good health and a sense of well-being. It is changing my life in a very positive way!

Quackery. Please see a real doctor when needing medical advice.

There is surely room for the best of all approaches to health...
It is my experience that Eden's techniques work. (btw I'm a cynical, skeptical old git and I never respond to placebos or suggestion!!)
Glassbrain: Why don't you try Eden's Five minute energy routine, every day for 10 days. THEN come back and tell us it's quakery!

Which website? Read the McTaggart book. There's more info there.
And prejudice runs very, very deep... (though I must say it is somewhat justified in many instances!!)
Nature refused to publish the experiment I mentioned yet it was very well conducted...
cosmicjazzer 2 years ago
There is some criticism of the experiments floating around. If they did not publish the experiments, then something was amiss.
glassbrain 2 years ago
In addition, it would appear as though Mr. Radin's work is highly disputed.

I absolutely agree that there is a place for proper research and evidence. But this is unfortunately all too often prevented by prejudice.
Personal experience should not be discounted either. though, of course, we should be wary of self delusion too!
I have experienced amazing energies and physical phenomena which could never reasonably be explained away.
I suspect we may not be able to agree much on this subject! If you do try Eden's techniques, please post your experiences.

Believing in chance and luck is a misunderstanding of a natural law unrecognized.

Best to you friend
