The root problem of Islam is that it is being hijacked by extremists. Unless or until moderate Muslims decide to take back their religion, protestations to the contrary (Islam is a religion of peace, the Taliban and madrassas do not represent the true face of Islam), will never be realized. Should mainstream Islam finally surrender to extremism, and nothing has been done to honorably prevent this calamity, then the moderates must forever hold their peace and suffer that enduring shame.

The thing is, your idea of 'moderate' Islam is to support all attacks and lies against Islam and seek justification for the occupation of other lands; as such it stinks of bigotry. The root problem is large sections of our media particularly in the US and UK have been hijacked by right-wing extremists. Until we are able to say NO to these extremist elements, until we categorically declare there can be no justification for occupation of other people's lands, I can't see how peace can be achieved.

Ummm... somehow, I think saying NO to media extremists is not quite the same as saying NO to Islamic extremists. In fact, Islamic extremists create their own media extremists, so your point enters into a conundrum.
