This is the most pathetic post ever to plead for a thumbs up. What next? Your mom was killed by a serial killer so please give me a thumbs up? Pathetic
This was one of my favorite songs when it first came out, and hasn't fallen off "my" chart since. I suspect everyone loves this great song. Lately, critics have tried to diminish my appreciation for it, by saying it's about intravenous drug use. The "Silver Girl" (my favorite part) is a needle, followed by dreamy echos and 'waves' of tympani simulating a drug rush. Reference to "sailing on", 'dreams', etc. I say they're nuts. It remains one of my favorites. Can't undrstnd the dozen dislikes.
OMG!! That is my favorite song by Simon and Garfunkel. I don't know why, other than because of it being such a beautiful and moving emotional song, but I get misty-eyed every time I hear it and/or sing it.
This is probably one of the greatest songs ever written and recorded. Simon is a genius, and Garfunkel had an "Angelic Voice". Don and Phil Everly were great. But Simon and Garfunkel took harmonic duels to all time heights. This song could be about a best friend, or God carrying us when we can't carry ourselves. A great revelation. We are not alone.

#1 at Hot 100 on Feb 28, 1970 for 6 weeks!. During recording Bridge Over Troubled Water, 1 of d most successful albums of d rock era, d age of compromise ended n d break-up of d best selling duo since d Everly Brothers, began. Regardless the break-up, they won 6 Grammys from the album!
When I first heard the song I instantly recognized where John Frusciante's vocal lines come from, he obviously spent a lot of time listening to them :)
i listen to stuff like Slipknot, Disturbed, Amon Amarth, Slayer, etc. but i have to say Simon and Garfunkel are amazing and they are going in my top 7 favorite musicians.
This classic masterpiece went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1970 and reigned there for six consecutive weeks. I was only in nursery school then, but this is one of a handful of songs I can recall hearing at the time. These days I go to karaoke regularly, and while I've done hundreds of songs, this is one of those I enjoy singing the most. Thanks for sharing, and God Bless!
My brother (who is younger than I am) was shocked that I'd never heard this song before, and he sat me down and made me listen to it. Boy had I been missing out on such a wonderful experience!
Man this song is pure..... GOLD!! Wish I could say that this music was created when i was a kid or teen. Im 16 and i gotta listen to fuckin kanye west and fuckin shakira!!
Thank you! you made my day! I am glad that what I said gave you hope...Whatever you are going through just hold on...,And trust that everything will be okay...Remember..."This too shall pass..."
I'm scared to die but there are some songs I can listen to and feel so damn good that if a airplane was going to crash into me at that moment I would just smile listening to that song.
This song was the # 3 song for the whole year in 1970 out of the top 100 songs. It was # 1 for 6 weeks. Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head by BJ Thomas was the # 1 song for the entire year. It was # 1for 4 weeks.
