  • @PuksisKissa try listening to Last Kiss by Pearl Jam, you will have a stronger connection with that song

  • @PuksisKissa ..... I'm so sorry....can understand you.

  • @PuksisKissa,

@atmoferebusandfucku is totally right. you should be ashamed.

  • This was one of my favorite songs when it first came out, and hasn't fallen off "my" chart since. I suspect everyone loves this great song. Lately, critics have tried to diminish my appreciation for it, by saying it's about intravenous drug use. The "Silver Girl" (my favorite part) is a needle, followed by dreamy echos and 'waves' of tympani simulating a drug rush. Reference to "sailing on", 'dreams', etc. I say they're nuts. It remains one of my favorites. Can't undrstnd the dozen dislikes.

  • I sang this at my sisters wedding years ago....LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! Still play it on the piano.

  • My heaven will consist of music from the 60s

  • One of the best songs of all times. This one is for you my baby. Will always be there for you.

  • A melody sweet without being syrupy, deep without being pretentious, human and beautiful, moving, probably the best song ever written.

  • One of my favorites. Great song.

  • The Greatest Song EVER written

  • Is it just me, or it stops at 3:46? :(

  • @sosrslyhownow it's just you. that's when the drums come in.

  • OMG!! That is my favorite song by Simon and Garfunkel. I don't know why, other than because of it being such a beautiful and moving emotional song, but I get misty-eyed every time I hear it and/or sing it.

  • This is probably one of the greatest songs ever written and recorded. Simon is a genius, and Garfunkel had an "Angelic Voice". Dona and Phil Everly were great. But Simon and Garfunkel took harmonic duels to all time heights. This song could be about a best friend, or God carrying us when we can't carry ourselves. A great revelation. We are not alone.

  • I LIKE THIS SONG VERY MUCH.

    PLEASE CHECK MY VERSION.

    THANKS.

  • a candidate for best song ever

  • #1 at Hot 100 on Feb 28, 1970 for 6 weeks!. During recording Bridge Over Troubled Water, 1 of d most successful albums of d rock era, d age of compromise ended n d break-up of d best selling duo since d Everly Brothers, began. Regardless the break-up, they won 6 Grammys from the album!

  • 300.000. =)

  • THIS IS MY ALL TIME TOP FAVE ...WHAT AMAZING MUSIC FROM THESE GUYS .... SO VERY RARE TO FIND ... INFACT IMPOSSIBLE TO EVER BE REPEATED ....

  • This is what we call pure magic.

  • When I first heard the song I instantly recognized where John Frusciante's vocal lines come from, he obviously spent a lot of time listening to them :)

  • This song gives me hope.

Few songs nowadays do that for me.

  • great song

  • Excellent*****

  • this was my husband's favorite song...I listen in his memory...he passed away January 11, 2009

  • brillnt song

  • i listen to stuff like Slipknot, Disturbed, Amon Amarth, Slayer, etc. but i have to say Simon and Garfunkel are amazing and they are going in my top 7 favorite musicians.

  • This classic masterpiece went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1970 and reigned there for six consecutive weeks. I was only in nursery school then, but this is one of a handful of songs I can recall hearing at the time. These days I go to karaoke regularly, and while I've done hundreds of songs, this is one of those I enjoy singing the most. Thanks for sharing, and God Bless!

  • My brother (who is younger than I am) was shocked that I'd never heard this song before, and he sat me down and made me listen to it. Boy had I been missing out on such a wonderful experience!

  • Man this song is pure..... GOLD!! Wish I could say that this music was created when i was a kid or teen. Im 16 and i gotta listen to fuckin kanye west and fuckin shakira!!

  • I'm scared to die but there are some songs I can listen to and feel so damn good that if a airplane was going to crash into me at that moment I would just smile listening to that song.

This is one of those songs.

  • I'm 17 and I love this music. My favorite music is Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Donovan, Van Morrison, and Neil Young.

This music will live on through this generation and countless more to come.

  • Listen also to this song by Bobby Darin. Fantastic !!!

  • If I got started on this one, we'd be here all day - or at least I would. And I'd be afraid I'd leave just one of the glowing adjectives out.

  • This song was the # 3 song for the whole year in 1970 out of the top 100 songs. It was # 1 for 6 weeks. Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head by BJ Thomas was the # 1 song for the entire year. It was # 1for 4 weeks.

  • we're singing this in school with a group of girls it sounds great!

  • i love it too, wonderfull melody...

  • This song means more to me now than ever...

  • Sonjia Lanelle, I will never forget our time

    togeather... sail on silver girl

  • Silver Girl is the Statue of Liberty... what the immigrants saw when they were coming over from italy and other countries. She was their bridge... theoriticaly speaking.

  • So sorry to correct you, but that is actually a reference to Simon's wife, who was fretting over getting her first grey hairs.

  • I am compiling a photo retrospect for my funeral with this song playing in the back ground.

  • Huh?

  • i would love to do something similar, but nobody would even come to my funeral so it'd be wasted effort.

  • oh dear! how sad, i'm sorry...but i'm sure ur mistaken. everyone has SOMEONE who loves them.

  • thank you

  • Thank you.....sob

  • Hands up if you know who "Silver girl" referes to?

  • himself? lol

  • First it was said the song was about heroin, so the silver girl actually was the needle. Later it was said silver girl refers to Simon's girlfriend, now wife Peggy Harper. She found a few grey hairs in her hair, so Simon joked by calling her Silver Girl.

  • It's much more awesome when I don't sing along. LOL!

  • This is such a great song! I can't stop listening...

  • such a smooth, soothing voice

  • I have worked with my friend for a few years now and he has never told me this before until he heard this song on my £2 radio I bought. He has had so much sadness and death in his family. This is for you Mark. I stand with you and love you. xxx

  • É fantástico poder rever tantas maravilhas do passado, como pérolas perdidas no tempo. É memorável saber que uma empresa jovem e atual se preocupa com os prazeres e delícias do passado. Eu adorei.

Eu procuro uma música a muito tempo e ainda não a encontrei: "The girl from Sallinas", tem do filme a garota de Sallinas.

  • esta musica fez parte de minha vida

  • Simon & Garfunkel were so great together. Paul Simon knew how to write for Art Garfunkels voice and this song is the perfect example. Wonderful! I prefer the one from the Greatest Hits album but Youtube have removed it. Shame!

  • AWESOME tune

  • a long time ago this song was important to someone that meant very much to me-I wish I would have understood that then

  • I know the feelin brother......or sister.

  • before let it be, Paul McCartney would like to wrote this song

  • These are such timeless sounds, what a pair they were and in my opinion still are.

    Simon and Garfunkle,such talants.

  • DID they write this song cuz im singing it in chorus and i need to tell my chorus teacher that shes screwin it up SOME ONE TELL ME IF THEY WROTE THIS!!!!!!

  • Paul Simon wrote it.

  • Um, yes..Paul Simon wrote it and Art Garfunkel performed it

  • Garfunkel starts it, then Simon comes in

  • nice

  • I love this song! When we sang it in choir I thought of my best friend!

  • brilliant

  • I am of the younger generation.

My parents raised me on this stuff.

    I appreciate it.

  • yes rock my mother raised me on these 2 great singer song writers

  • same here :).....they just dont make music like this anymore.....this song is so beautiful and so brilliant......

  • @rockinawesomeoate

    same here!

  • Elvis 1972

  • this was sang in 1969?

  • 1 year off... 1970

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written - it is about being there for a fellow human being - any other interpretation is one of a lack of intelligence and soul - I pity the younger generation for their idiotic views - shame on you...

  • I could ot have said it better myself

  • I'm part of the younger generation, and I resent that. While the good majority of us are idiotic, assuming that everyone of this generation is idiotic is being stereotypical. I'm 12 years old and love this song.

  • good for you. there's hope for the future after all!

  • first of all what the fok does being gay have anything to do with this song?whoever came up with this stupid argument is an idiot...

    -______________________-

  • really superb song !! both are great be it simon or art.. but this song is sung by garfunkel & he's given us a master piece.. i get goose bums when i hear this track.. awesome music.. thanks for sharing the vedio.

  • I love this album version much better than the concert version with the annoying applause.

  • Right! I hate live versions too...

  • Comment removed

  • @FergusonTO35 Annoying applause?? If you mean the 11-11-69 live version, then you should have called it.... the annoying 'pounding, thunderous ½ minute long' applause! Notice where Garfunkel tells the crowd it’s a new song and says the name of it, there is total silence. That's because they’ve never heard it before! Try to remember the 1st time you heard it & how perfect it sounded. Now tell me if you would respect anyone who found your applause annoying. It is better BECAUSE of it. Not worse.

  • Just few songs make me cry.

    This is one of them.
