Great Vlog! I really enjoy this kind of information. That's something we should be teaching our Deaf children! The earlier our children understand their own language, they will become better English user! Thanks for sh
Wow, this is super interesting! Thanks so much for sharing!
I've been signing for about 5 years now and still struggle sometimes with FS, but, more I'm exposed to it, easier it gets. Great points, and very cool!
Interesting information! I often find myself signing my last name real quickly when introducing myself to hearing people, they have a harder time catching it. Now what you said makes a lot of sense. thanks for sharing it.
As a relatively new signer (3 years now) I still have trouble reading rapid fingerspelling sometimes. But you're absolutely right--I find that if somebody fingerspells something a little slowly and clearly the first time, they can do it rapidly and lexicalized a bit (or just relaxed--relaxicalization? lol) and I'll catch it just fine since I've already seen that fingerspelling in the conversation.
Yes, right... and your shelllium contains 3 "L" in it. For a quick sloppy fs, S-H-E-(handshape: ily x 3 quick shake)-U-M, that is what I'd do... Let's do that yourself in your vlog and see what commenters have to say. From A to Z in "100 mph" I tend to flash "ily" right after "K" and disappear right after " M" in whole manual-alphabet race... The "J" froze my pinky finger all the way until I hit "M"... interesting, eh?
Ha I just mentioned on my new vlog about lex... People do have hard time reading my fingerspelling. I mean both deaf and hearing often ask me to repeat several times. Guess I m either sloppy fingerspeller or my hand are so small and fat. Ha
Hi Mexpurple! I need to go look at your vlog! My three kids are home so I am sneaking vlogging in here and there... ;o) True: shorter fingers, older hands, arthritis, MEN ;o) harder to read...but we all try our best! Cheers in 2010 ;o)! SH
Well done and valid point:) Keep it up, so we can watch U more and more!
