Yes, because heavily altered radio & music video versions are so much better than the pure live voice & music. :/ Don't you have some Jonas Brothers vids to be catching up on over at radio Disney?
I'm so very offended by someone who's just admitted that in their mind, heavily altered music is somehow superior to this. Is this the only live video you've watched of his to form your opinion? If yes, you prove my point. If no, one would assume you already knew you didn't like his live vids before wasting your time to click into a blatantly advertised LIVE HOWIE DAY video just to bitch about it. Either way, you're kind of a loser, no?
sorry, guy. his live performance isn't that great, in my opinion. relax. this is the only song of his i know. it's ok man, most singers aren't that good live. first time i saw this or any of his videos, and frankly, i didn't like it, but i REALLY REALLY like this song, so i was disappointed when i realized this is the only version of this song on youtube
That's the thing, I do agree a lot of (okay, yes, most) singers turn out to be bad when performing live without studio tweaking and/or Disney channel stars magic microphones; he's just not one I've had that thought about. I haven't heard the radio version of this one, so I don't know how different it sounds, but I think this song is great. Out of curiosity, you just don't even like his voice live or the overall song is performed too differently from the radio version?
Try and listen to the original (Better Than Ezra - At The Stars) complete with nice guitar and orchestra. It is full of emotions...One of my favorite songs.
Listen to the song again...Do you really hear the word vanish after "Leave tonight and.."? "Say the sun looks low" is what I found on a lyrics site and it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense but what he's singing sounds way more like that then "Vanish up the shore."
Yes, the lyrics as sung by Better Then Ezra are, but if you listen to Howie Day singing in this recording, he is not saying "vanish".
When singers do covers of other artists' music, sometimes (like in this song), they do change the occasional word/phrase. If anyone can tell me what for sure he's saying, I'll gladly change my lyrics, but he's NOT saying "vanish up the shore", unless he was heavily intoxicated before the show. ;)

Better Than Ezra's "At The Stars" (original) is one of the best songs ever!!!

I think it needs to be said here that "At the stars" is not even Howie Day's song. He's just covering it here. The original is by Better Than Ezra.

Nicely done
but the correct second line is
or leave tonight and vanish up the shore
instead of
Leave tonight and say the sun looks low
Just in case :]

BandNerdd is correct. The correct lyrics by better than ezra are "and vanish up the shore".
