yeah actually according to research if the snake could continue to slither fast enough through the wind resistance it would actually gain upward momentum, hence gaining altitude, the type of motion is called Non-equilibrium trajectory dynamics

This is not "flying", and saying "gliding" is highly debatable. The snake is merely falling while using its natural movements to keep itself straight so that it lands on its belly, much like a cat that will swing its legs around to land on them. I believe that the flattening of its belly is not an attempt by the snake at gliding, but actually a precaution designed to help it catch tree limbs as it falls. The (very little) added wind resistance from it is just a coincidence that was not intended.

Nothing new to me . I do this every time I jump from certain height's , then I swing my tail from side to side . Sometimes I manage this way to fly from Europe to the US , but I get hungry after such fly activity . So I lost interest and stay home now watching you tube 0_O

poor animal, it seemed to be really scared... people should leave animals in the wild, not domesticate them or doing some crazy experiments.. If I would be captured I also would jump of these highs and breaking my bones... this shake is more talented at it after all ^^

@Neltharion2k Snakes don't have bones. 

And if this is considered flying, then I can fly too. If I were to run and jump off a building, I would move forward as well. I would still be falling, though, and unlike the snake, die. Granted, I would change my opinion if they were to change the camera angle to show the side view. At least then I could calculate some sort of ratio between the distance dropped and the distance "flown".

@redhd09 Snakes do have many bones, and no, it's not flying, but it is a pretty long glide, for a snake. If you were to leap out like that, you would very briefly have some forward momentum, afterwards you would continue to fall straight down. This camera angle is showing that forward momentum continue all the way down

@Andymanse8 It was gliding, NOT dropping. The curve of a snake that drops/falls off a structure is different from the curve of this snake which is clearly gliding. If you notice, the snake 'moves' in the air the same way it would in the water or on the ground.

If you would prefer, you can say the snake was "falling with style". :D
