Z player here, trying to learn terran too. I got a question about terran openings. Some builds have 15 orb and some have 16 orb. Are 15 orbital and 16 orbital probably the same thing? The standard 12 rax and scv #15 end with about 200 minerals. It makes sense to make an orbital and marine #1 and the same time, hence the difference between 15 orb and 16 orb being negligible as the marine and orb are started pretty much simultaneously. Do I understand this correctly?

@vgfanatic2 that depends. vs a z, i always wall off at the choke, vs T or P, really not a huge need unless your trying to hide something... in which case a proxy might be better. vs random is better safe than sorry so i wall off anyways...

Well instead of the tech lab I usually make two marines to block scouts but the rest is pretty much the same, this helps me shave down time on my build and using microstarcraft2's three rax tutorials mixed with this I haven't been beaten by a terran on any small league map. (Undefeated on scrap station)

@infernaldarklord I think it's true that zerg has a difficult time against terran right now, but really things like that only make a big difference at the very highest level of play. If you play at anything but the highest rank of diamond, then small imbalances likely won't impact your games much anyway.

@SC2NoobSchool - Not true. It affects all levels of gameplay, ESPECIALLY not pro level. Zerg macro is unforgiving and highly APM consuming. That reason alone puts zerg behind the curve, but when you include opening unit harassment choices (not much but speedling, but everyone can wall off now except zerg) vs toss's chronoboosted proxy gates or terran's 3/5 rax reaper or quick fac/reactor hellions, the opening options are looking bleak. If you make it to mid game, you should be ok.

@SC2NoobSchool I really do think even the small imbalances will mark the end since up there a single wrong play with banglelings will cost you the game (I.e. Muta, zling, bangeling and bangelings fail to wipe out all the marines) and Zerg player will not be able to come back from that since throwing Mutas into group of Marine is just another way of saying GG and before another wave of bangelings arrive your expo or main will be gone, and its sad how bangelings just melt to sieges before marines

I saw a tool tip that says 3 SCV per mineral is the optimum number of SCVs. Does that mean that once you reach that point it would be better to use the resources to make other things instead of constantly making more gatherers?

@ELDoro It does have a slight advantage due to the decreased travel time for the worker, but it's not a big deal. The bigger question of walling off vs. not walling off is whether you think you'll have to deal with an early harassment or not. I tend to wall off in TvP and TvZ, but not in TvT.

"Transitioning into BCs" would mean a slow tech, first starport(s) then fusion core, yamato, and then starting to get air upgrades. So quit shaking your e peen. No one cares.

@popomartin2 siege tanks were in the first game... along with drop ships to place them in those hard to reach areas. And, it was marines and medics in the first game. the only difference, is concussive shells, and dmg bonus vs armor... which, if you are talking dps, marines are better for the supply, and the resources.... I WILL say, however, they made the terrans unit comp even more diverse. They are very very flexible in their builds, and can respond quicker. But, not all players are using em
