  • Whoa! This went WAYYYY too fast. There's plenty of knowledge here but the issues are: 1. You're actually talking too fast. Slow it down, relax, repeat the concepts a few times. 3. Show visually onscreen (printed overlay) what you are doing with each step. 4. Anticipate questions that students will have and answer them along the way. For example, when you say that something works with "any seventh chord" are you talking about major, minor and dominant sevenths or just dominant?

  • I hope teaching is not your day job, because you suck at it. You just flew through it at the speed of light and didn't bother to explain anything.

  • @k4f Well, he makes a living from it. These videos are supposed to be like demos or excerpts from the whole DVD that he's selling. There would be no point in him selling that if he just posted it all to YouTube! But for people that cannot afford or do not want to buy it I think these videos are very helpful and you should be grateful that he's sharing them with us all!

  • Too fast?...naaww...

  • this was informative and understandable. thank you

  • You are going way too fast!! Like many teachers I have had, you teach at your understanding level, not the student's. This is the problem with education in general today.

  • This is great and very helpful. Thank you very much.

  • too fast

  • this guy (duane shinn) makes quality instructional videos, there's some used ones on ebay

  • great lesson, thank You!

  • you are good, but u go too fast. i don't understand what u are talking about?

I can play piano melody, anything i hear, i can play instantly even if i had not heard that before, but i don't know how to harmonize and use chords..

  • @AKafghan08 , so what you are saying is, you CAN 'play anything you hear' but you can't play something that not only you have heard, you even saw.

  • what's a fourth? a tri-tone?

  • Its something you play on the piano. haha

  • @googoogagmouth , no

  • He may be headless, but he sure isnt handless!

  • Could you do some stuff on how to get the rolling left hand thing going to fill up space and make it lush and flowery?

What about just some general tips for cocktail piano?

    Your vids are good.

  • Wow. This is amazing.

  • there are people who think of jazz as kenny G plays it.
