  • HI CAN I USE MARGARINE INSTEAD OF BUTTER????

  • @blondmache26 If it contains no transfats yes, but why would you? Butter is better tasting and perfectly fine on the diet.

  • @bowulf thank you!!!! :)

  • How do you store the bread, I'm assuming the fridge, and what is the shelf life. Love, love the recipe! - Phil

  • @webmill20034 I normally eat mine with the same or next day, so I am not sure how long it would last. If I had to guess, it should last at least 3-5 days, but then it would dry out to be unusable.

  • Awesome. How would you get rid of the mild bitter taste?

  • @sassybreanna2009 I use the golden as opposed to brown flax, and the cinnamon topping I used in my mock danish video also helps.

  • Finally found some milled flax seed in the organic section of my grocery. They actually have two other varients, one ia mixed with organic blueberry and the other organic rasphberry. In the end I chose the normal one. Can add the fruits in anyway if I wanted to

  • Where are you getting 102 Calories from????

    1 tbs of butter = 102 Cal

    1 Egg = 70 Cal

2 tbs of Flax seed = 70 Cal

That makes 242 Cal, not 102. Right ??

    Were you talking per slice????

How many slices are in one batch per ingredients ?????

By the way, the recipe is unreal. I also add some ground pumpkin and sunflower seeds, pop it in the toaster a little, from the micro-wave, to crispen it up , add some feta cheese, nuff said!!!!

    Thank you.

  • @McSnern I believe the difference is due to different number on self-ground flax meal and the nutrition info number reflects 2 serving and is a per serving count. Those are good idea on additions, and my latest video a Pumpkin MiM is very similar to your recipe.

  • Anyone have suggestions as to what you can add to make this more palatable?

  • @ToniKelemen It is an acquired taste, but there are a number of MiM (Muffin in a Minute) recipes that are similar to this Flax Bread recipe. They add a number of ingredients to it to make variations like Pumpkin, etc.

  • Can I use egg replacement?

  • @anamneses28 If it contains the yolks, it should work. The proteins in the yolk is what keeps the bread together. I would only ask why the egg replacement as most of the time the reason (cholesterol) is not applicable on a low carb diet.

  • could you make large loafs of this in the oven?

  • @PibbXtra08 No, but you could bake a fleet of them in the oven in muffin pans....

  • Wow! That's so easy! I looooove baking and although I am not on the Atkins Diet I am on Weight Watchers - this will help me greatly. I already have a million ideas for trying this because it looked so similar, in texture, to bread. I already do the cauliflower rice and mashed potatoes and the spaghetti squash so I'm really excited to give this a try! Thanks so much!

  • @anamneses28 There are lots of ideas I haven't tried yet with this flax bread. I have seen many recipes lately that feature coconut flour instead of flax, and then complement it with cocoa powder for a chocolate-like bread.

  • This bread is great, I love it...thanks Kent=}.

  • @disizanewme You are very welcome. I am glad I could share...

  • Would this bread toast well?

  • @Syllius24 Yep, I do toast it from time to time. Especially when using it in recipes like my Reuben Casserole that I posted here.

  • Tried this today after getting mulled flax from my local health food store. Never even heard of flax before lol. Anyway I followed the recipe and was pleasantly surprised. Really does have the consistency of bread. Tasted great with my chicken breasts with piri piri sauce and cauliflower rice. Thanks for sharing this great and easy low carb recipe! :)

  • If this is 2 servings, whats the total carbs ?

  • @steffiejoe Umm, twice that, i.e. 4.8 Total Carbs (4g Fiber) for a net carbs of .8g.

  • I like it! I added some sweetener and cinnamon and it was pretty good! Thanks so much for all your videos. I find myself trying more of the recipes from your videos everyday

  • Amazing!

  • @socialitebite Thanks!

  • Tastes like and looks like bread?????

  • Question, when you do the nutritional info, you write 2.4g Carbs (2g Fiber). Are the total carbs 2.4 or 2.4 + the 2g fiber? Also, in general, when you count carbs, are you including fiber or are you doing net carbs?

  • @clhSerenity That is 2.4g Total, so to get net carbs in my recipes, you need to subtract the fiber out still. (.4g net carbs) When I track my carbs for the day, I track my net carbs, but being people or companies have so changed that term, I only list total carbs and fiber grams.

  • Just made this...and with unsweetened apple sauce instead of butter. Amazing! I'd try adding a bit of sugar free syrup/cinnamon/Splenda and sliding an egg and two turkey sausages in there. McGriddle I can approve of!

  • @OmenBoy4 Sounds pretty good... That's the beauty of this recipe. It is so versatile and malleable to any wish. I like adding onion and garlic powder, and some herbs to make it more Italian and flavorful too.

  • I just made this bread and added 1 splenda packet for my sweet tooth and it was awesome!!! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe

  • Awesome!!! I was hoping you would say that. Thanks!!!

  • I was just wondering about almond flour. I've heard of a few recipes with this and was wondering if this is IF. I trust your opinion over others that I've talked to.

  • @TheAshbrittany Yep, you can have it on Induction as you are allowed flax meal (1-2 tbsp per day) for regularity.

  • WOW!! I just made some, and to be honest when I took it out of the microwave it smelled alot like an omlet and my hopes crashed. Weeeelll after it cooled I sadly sliced it up and tried it... WOOOW! tastes absolutely great!

    Thnx

  • @Parson2 I am glad you liked it. What's even better about this recipe is that it enables making Low Carb Stuffing for Thanksgiving. I am glad you liked it.

  • YOU, sir are my HERO!

  • @GROFOOPERS I am honored.

  • Super Yum!!! My husband and I have been doing Atkins for 2 months now but any time he has any bread he stops loosing. This bread is awsome and doesnt inhibit his weight lose. THANKS A MILLION!

  • @gaaraskeeper I am glad you and your husband like the flax bread. You are very welcome!

  • I've used both regular flax and golden flax, and they all taste great. I'm not sure why some people are getting bad results. I think I may be in love with flax bread. lol Thank you for sharing this great recipe. The first time I had it, it was like heaven because I hadn't had bread in so long.

  • I just made the flax bread recipe for the first time today and I love, love, love it!!! As always Kent Altena, you are the man!!!! Thank you for being so awesome! I watch your videos every day!!!!

  • @marnao122 I am glad you liked it. As for being awesome, I'll have to take your word for it because my kids don't see it. :-)

  • Are you freakin kidding me???? I have been trying to make a healthier wheat bread...comes out like a brick. I have wasted countless hours. I just stuck ur bread recipe nuker with some natural salt, onion powder and pepper. I think it may be the best bread I have ever eaten. Made the house smell heavenly. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

  • @FloridaSalon I know it is hard to believe how simple this recipe is. I am glad you liked the recipe, and thanks for watching and subscribing! :-)

  • kent i heavily apreciate your video, and I decided to add chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, vanila syrup and liquid sweetener to that recipe, IT TASTES JUST LIKE A BROWNIE!!!! any ideas of toppings i could use??

  • @jangordo18 I'll have to try that tweak -- that sounds really interesting. I am not much of a chocolate person, but I think a chocolate icing or frosting would be possible. Try my Cinnabon icing recipe and exchange some of the sweetener for more chocolate whey protein.

  • Wow! I made this today with freshly ground dark flax seeds, which gave a nice and dark flax meal. It worked out extremely well and the little loaf, cooked in a high and small container, was beautiful and dark in color. I sliced it in four, round slices and toasted them for a short while. So delicious! Next time I'll try it with a little less butter. Thanks for this recipe!

  • 3:30 [Smuckers] "and there is no sugar in it"

One of the first ingredients is maltodextrin, which is a very short chain of glucose that has a GI of 100: proteinfactory. com/shop/product. php?productid=37 "This complex carbohydrate is otherwise known as a glucose polymer. Maltodextrin has the highest rating on the glycemic index of 100, thus making it a good carbohydrate for weight gain and quick glycogen replenishment."

  • @hitssquad Yep, the Smuckers is only appropriate for OWL phase. The amount of maltodextrin and polydextrose are minute in it, but as with any foods you start to include in OWL, you need to evaluate your body's response to them. The better answer would be to make all your own food, but sometimes you have to evaluate imperfect foods.

  • I'm so happy finding this magic bread after six months of low carb. Keep up the good job!! God bless you and your family.

  • @iuyouhkj I am glad I could share it with you. I really liked the change in pace, and especially liked it when Thanksgiving came around, and I could make great low carb stuffing.

  • I tried this recipe out this morning and I LOVE it!! I made an egg sandwich. It was great and VERY filling. It really curbs bread cravings and because it is so healthy for you, it makes me feel great about eating it. Genius!

  • @ruleyourmind I am glad you liked it. It was much like a english muffin, and I often had them with sausage like a sausage mcmuffin. The additional fiber was just a bonus. :-)

  • can you toast this bread? and is there any tricks we can use to make it taste better to someone who is just beginning atkins?

  • @HypeTingStudio Yes, you can toast it. As for flavors to help it out, I like adding cinnamon and butter to it. There are multiple recipes for MiM on the Atkins facebook site's discussion forums.

  • my bread tasted so biter when i tried it. is that reg taste ?

  • @bbwshemaleliz28 It will be a bit bitter or like rustic wheat bread, but using golden flax as opposed to brown flax will help the taste of the bread.

  • Hi sorry to bother you but a friend told me that flax seed has cyanide and can be dangerous is that true? Thank you! =D

  • @makeuptoday It has very small amounts of it in its uncooked or raw state. It also contains some phyto-estrogens, but in reasonable amounts (1/4 cups or less) per day, it should be fine.

  • So with 2.4g Carbs and 2g Fiber does that mean it has .4 g Carbs per "slice"?

  • @thespiswolf No the way I list the carbs is total carbs and then the grams fiber, so the net carbs (total - fiber) are .4g.

  • You are my hero! hehehe for the first time I can take sandwishes to eat in school, I can't tell you how happy I am!

  • Just made this and LOVED it! Thanks!

  • Fantastic! :)

  • Is this safe for induction phase also?

  • @redhenful Yes, it is. Just for future reference, look in the title to determine its acceptability for Induction. (IF) designates Induction Friendly.

  • @bowulf First off, congrats on your success. Second, I get a lot of different info regarding the acceptance of flax meal during induction. Some say up to 2 tablespoons a day, others say none and some say have all you want. I have read on the Atkins website that it is perfectly safe for induction. Since you seem to be and expert at this, whats your take on the whole flax meal deal during induction. I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

  • @ffernandez1975 Dr. Atkins said you could have start with 1-2 TBS of flax meal to keep regular. "If you are constipated, mix a tablespoon or more of psyllium husks in a cup or more of

water and drink daily. Or mix ground flaxseed into a shake or on a salad or vegetables."

I think most people think if a little is ok, a lot more must be good or better. That is not the case. I suggest starting with 1-2TBS per day, and then after Induction, you can evaluate if you can handle more.

  • @bowulf I guess the point of my original question was this: Is anything more than 2 TBS going to cause a stall in weight loss or is this dependent on each individual? Is this why Dr. Atkins and yourself recommend starting with only 1-2 TBS a day? I tolerate Flax meal very well. I see recipes on the official Atkins website that include a 1/4 cup of flax meal and the recipe says it is induction friendly. Whats your take on that? Thanks in advance.

  • @ffernandez1975 It's not so much about stalling weight loss as it is making sure the body can adjust to that level of fiber intake. Too much fiber too quick can back up the system, and make you constipated and bloated. There are other dangers of too much fiber- Dr. Eades has a pretty good article.

There may have been changes in what ANA promotes, but I fall back to the original. It may be fine for those in Extended Induction, but I would urge caution with having multiple of MIMs per day.

  • I added little twist to the recipe to make it more palatable To the original recipe all few cumin seeds , shreded cheese and pinch of salt along with flax and baking powder , mix then add egg and do as usual . It definitely makes more palatable

  • @rabak253 That's a lot like the fast low carb cheese bread recipe I have posted here. I am glad you like it that way.

  • Ok I have made this about 6 times over the last week and yum yum it turns out great I found that if you double the recipe you need to add a minute to the microwave I also tried spreading it thin like a flatbread or pita it was a bit thin and I just tried doubling it and baking it and 375deg for 25 min worked great in a mini loaf pan

  • @permofit That is good information as I constantly get asked if they could cook it in the oven instead of the microwave. Thanks for the info!

  • So, that little muffin is 3-4 servings? I was thinking it would be good to slice in half lengthwise and use for grilled cheese or pizza crust.

  • @twinma0454 No, it's two servings. The only reason it is because it has quite a load of flax in it (2TBS). You might need to work into that amount, but you can certainly have both halves once you are used to it.

  • This is a fantastic receipe. Thank you so much. My non atkins friends have even started making it so it's a definite hit!

  • @Dwanie1980 That is a sign of a good recipe - where people flock to it no matter what their personal preference.

  • wouldn't it be better in the oven rather than the microwave?

  • @mrmalade It would be better in a muffin tin, but I personally was more in a hurry most nights. You could however make multiple at a time easier in the oven though.

  • Turned out really well. Thanks for sharing!

  • @2000S3000E Glad you liked it...

  • Hi Kent, I tried your recipe and it was very good!!! Thank you very much

  • @NamelessHero16 I am glad you liked it. I think I am making a batch of these or Revolution Rolls tonight for an upcoming biscuits and gravy recipe.

  • Hi Kent, I dont have a Microwave, can I also make the Flax Bread in the oven? If yes, on which degree? Thanks in advance.

    best regards,

    Daniel 91

  • @NamelessHero16 I have never made it that way, but I would try 375 degrees for 20 minutes as a good starting spot in a muffin tin.

  • @bowulf ok I will try it that way, thank you very much Kent (:

    greetings,

    Daniel

  • You just made my day.I have spent alot of money ordering bread over the net and it is always pretty nasty, but this recipe hits the spot! Thanks alot.

  • @luvalotathrottle You are very welcome. I always appreciate a simple quick recipe over one I have to plan in advance any day.

  • Best Russian women dating site gettop5.info

  • I didn't use golden flax it came out a little dark but I added some whiped cream it was good. It's a good brakefast

  • I tried this, but had no golden flax, but I had cold milled flax and it worked great I thought. A little side of cream cheese with SF strawberry jam, and it was gooood! I also used cinnamon in the recipe

  • @topnotchjanitor Sounds like almost a strawberry/cream cheese sweet roll...

  • can u use this for the induction phase?

  • @aliciamichael Starting out you can have one serving (half recipe) on Induction. Dr. Atkins wrote you can have 1 TBS of flax meal for regularity, but he did not say you had to take it as a supplement. So you can have it in the bread form.

  • Can you do this in the oven? I don't use a microwave. What would be the temp settings and time?

  • @anurre5 I am sure you could in muffin tins, and the temp would be 350 or 375. However, the length I have no clue. "Until done" would be my only guess. I have only ever used a microwave with the recipe.

  • @bowulf Thanks!

  • Hi Kent, love all your video's,i'm unsure about wether i should be counting Calories or not, have just started the Atkin's diet, can you please let me know, thank you.

  • 2 mins in the micro... wouldn't that oxidize the cholesterol in the yolk?

  • @Viewtiful22 No. The cooking effect from the microwave is no different in essence than cooking the egg on a frying pan,

  • @Viewtiful22 I think you may be right. I heard eggs can be oxidized when cooked. Particularly microwaves seem to take away way more nutrients. Not to mention other health risks with carcinogens. I think this could easily be done with an oven.

  • Gosh,i would eat all of that in one sitting!!!good recipe, though!!thank you.

  • @kackleful You are welcome. I am glad you like it!

  • @bowulf Hi Kent, could you please tell me if i'm supposed to be counting calories as well, thank you.

  • @kackleful Not on Induction and possibly never -- check out my video "should I count calories on Induction?" video,

  • Do you know how to make low carb bread with a regular bread machine?

  • @jvarela965 There are a number of recipes at lowcarbfriends recipe forums for bread machines. Not having one, I can't validate for them.

  • Hi! :) started atkins today and i was just wondering is how much of this can be eaten daily on induction?! thanks!

  • @emiholo Starting on Induction you can eat half of it - Dr. A allowed 1 TBS of flax. If it agrees with you can eat the whole thing after a week of losing.

  • i loved this ,fantastic!!!will make this all the time, thank's so much

  • nice! I just made some baked in the oven but this is a nice quick method in a hurry

  • Thanks so very much for this recipe. I make this flax bread often to prepare sandwiches. I have not missed the regular whole wheat bread since I came across your video. I would like to try making a flax pizza crust with this recipe. I hope it works. Have you ever given it a try?

  • Thank you so much for this video. I made it right away and found it delicious. Looking forward to watching all your videos.

  • @vsnyders No problem - thanks for watching!

  • what other bread recipes you made is okei to eat during induction? thanks. btw, i love your mock danish and no bake cheesecake recipes. i lost 8 lbs on my first week. i've also been doing 3 to 5 miles walk daily.

  • @jinxlexus01 This is only recipe I know of that is Induction friendly. After Induction there are more option, like the one I posted here, but given only Induction acceptable ingredients, this is the only bread. There are Revolution Rolls made with egg whites that can also be used for buns on Induction, but it's been years since I made them.

  • That looks so yummy!!!! :) Atkins sure makes food taste better:) before I would just inhale carbs..now I’m savoring every bite.. I really Appreciate your videos!

  • is this recipe suitable for Induction? Thanks.

  • @Lansola Yes, although start with one slice per day first. You are allowed 1TBS of Flax for regularity, and then can add another if you need it.

  • Thanks for showing how to make the bread...How many slices can you have at a time.

What kind of oil did you use for the egg plants..?

  • @Florrie71 Just starting out you are 1 TBS of Flax per day, so half the recipe (1 slice). If you are still having problems with regularity, you can add the second slice.

For cooking oil, I prefer peanut or coconut oil, but I will use corn oil if I am short of the other ones.

  • Tried this with regular (darker) flax meal - horrible. You were so right not to use the regular on this. I've got some golden flaxmeal coming from Vitacost this week, so I'll do it your way. I'm sure it'll be great. (To those who have trouble finding ingredients: Don't overlook online sources. You can find ANYTHING on the internet.)

  • @Vittoria10538 The dark flax definitely has more of a taste than does the lighter stuff. I completely agree about the online sources. Just search and you can find it. Whether or not you want to pay the shipping is another story. :-)

  • @bowulf Vitacost and Netrition have flat rate shipping of around $5 (free if you spend over a certain dollar amount). I couldn't mail that stuff for anywhere near as low a price. If you drive (I gave that up 13 years ago when I moved to NY), and you're lucky enough to find a local store that even carries these things, factor in the cost of driving there & back, and you're really paying only the difference between the shipping and the price of your gas. So you can do pretty well having it sent.

  • @Vittoria10538 Oh I agree... Just there are vendors (especially those selling perishable items like bread or ebay vendors) where the cost of the shipping is double the cost of the item itself. Amazon and netrition don't have that problem.

  • microwaves destroy the vitamins. have you tried baking it instead? good results?

  • @zaaz369 There are those that bake these in muffin cups, but that is too much work for me. I am not convinced on the dangers of microwaves, but if you are, you can certainly change the cooking technique.

  • I need some flax seed and a grinder badly. The grocery store I go to (Market Basket) sells Atkins friendly wraps but they are pretty expensive (five dollars for two packages) and not really induction friendly. The wraps have flax in them as well. But HALF a wrap is four net carbs! Ouch! If I could make my own bread, I may save some carbs and some cash. Thanks for the vid. :)

  • Hi bowulf,

how do you mill your flaxseed at home? coffee grinder ?

  • @khanjibran Yep, exactly right. A cheap $9 coffee grinder from Wal-mart serves the purpose well.

  • can it be used for owl rung 1 onwards?

  • @librangirl1 Actually this is Induction friendly. Flax is allowed on Induction 1-2 TBS per day.

  • Tried this today and although the texture is awesome the bread tasted very bitter. Would adding salt or splenda do anything to solve this? I can't eat it so bitter :(

  • @iiScorpius It might be your flax. My self-ground golden flax is a lot less bitter than Bob Red Mill ground flax meal. How to improve what you have? I have added a bit of splenda and cinnamon butter glaze on top for homemade cinnamon bread.

  • @bowulf Thanks for the quick reply! After posting I did some more googling, I bought a bag of brown flax seeds and a coffee grinder today. Milled the seeds myself. I'm paranoid now as not sure if they could have gone rancid but unlikely as there was still a year left on expiration and as I said ground them myself or could this be the standard taste of the brown variety? I'm going to throw the left overs in the bin, are the golden seeds much better? I don't want to give up just yet

  • Wow Kent! These are DELICIOUS!

Second time round making these I added a little grated cheese (to make cheesy bread) very nice!

I have to ask though, as i'm a little confused- the nutrition levels you have stated, are they PER serving, or PER the whole bread recipe?

Thanks and keep up to the good work!

  • @JAMESfuckingSTAR The nutrition info is per serving, so if you eat the whole thing, be sure to double the amounts.

  • omg! its bread! thats flippin' amazing! I no longer miss bread.

  • @dnobles83 I am really glad you liked it. It really does feel a hole and is easy to make.

  • Thanks so much for this GREAT recipe and video. I really enjoy and appreciate all your vids. Can you recommend a good pasta substitute? I've tried the shiratake noodles and they're pretty good. Thanks again!!

  • @curtacious Check out my chicken alfredo video for my ideas on pasta replacement. The short answer my personal tastes are much more towards using either a faux rice (processed cauliflower), spaghetti squash, or very rarely Dreamfield's pasta as my replacement for pasta.

To me pasta was always about carrier of the good stuff or to support / complement the flavor. Faux rice works really well in that scenario.

  • One more rave about how good this bread is... It is soooooooooo good I feel like I cheated. ;0)

  • @yeshualovesu2 I am glad you liked it. :-)

  • I have to tell you I finally got around to making this just a few minutes ago and it was awesome. By itself or as a sandwich, (I tried it both ways), it was fantastic! This is a crucial part of being successful with Atkins, in my never to be humble opinion. I always get bread cravings and miss cheeseburgers, and the like with bread. I can envision about 2 dozen different thinks I can do with this off the bat, and pizza is one of them. "Thanks so much for this recipe! I truly appreciate it.

  • Wow, I'm gonna try this this weekend. Thanks for the simple and quick recipe!

  • How many carbs is this per serving (serving size?) and is it induction friendly? Sorry if it's mentioned. I listened for it and never heard if it was. Thanks! Love your channel!

  • It's in the video description: (like most of my videos)

    "Makes 2 Servings.

    Calories: 105 Calories, 9.75g Fat, 2.4g Carbs (2g Fiber), 4g Protein"

  • Made this along with the eggplant lasagna yesterday! Love them both!

Had the bread for breakfast with some bacon and eggs, and the eggplant dish for lunch..YUM!

    ATKINS IS AWESOME!

I'm on Day 3 :) and Lovin' it!

  • Sounds delicious!

  • PS..... I just had a try and made my first flaxseed bread! One more question though.... Is it supposed to taste so..."eggy"? Is it possible to vary the quantity of flaxseed and maybeadd less egg?

Thanks- and keep up the good work.

I enjoy your posts very much.

  • That's just the taste of this recipe... I am not sure I taste so much the egg but the flax. If you are into OWL to the necessary rung, you can try the other bread recipe I posted here.

  • HI

MANY THANKS for the great recipe!

How high do you set your microwave for?

    Greetings from The Netherlands!

  • I microwaved on high or full power.

Always nice to hear from someone from the Netherlands, my grandma emigrated from Friesland and always talked Dutch with me...

  • Very nice, i tried it today but when it was done in the micro i cut it in hard and grilled it so it had the crisp feeling of toast, i then spread egg mayo on it, was very tasty

  • I am glad you liked it.

  • Your recipe is amazing.Even my kids love this bread. Please post more great recipies.Thanks.Bread is very delicious.

  • Thanks for providing your feedback. You should try my latest one. It's a great main course.

  • @bowulf How to find your latest recipe?I am new to you tube.I have searched for low carb recipes and found your video.I tryed recipe and i loved it.I really want to learn how to cook low carb from you.

  • Simply click on my name, and the video that plays should be my latest one.

  • Just wondered if you could tell me how many carbs is in this flax bread? Thanks!

  • From the video description:

    "Makes 2 Servings.

    Calories: 105 Calories, 9.75g Fat, 2.4g Carbs (2g Fiber), 4g Protein"

  • Just realized the carbs were listed under more info. Thanks for your response. I have another question about milling your own flax seed. Do you have to have special equipment to do that? Just wondered if an electric coffee grinder might work?

  • Yep, that is exactly what I use. I bought an el cheapo wal-mart brand coffee grinder (like $8), and it works great for milling flax seed and making almond flour. That was the best $8 I spent in a long time.

I have heard people use really expensive blenders too, but my little grinder works great. I do have to shake it mid-grind to make sure I get all seeds ground though.

  • Oh, Great! That's what I was hoping you used. Mine is an el cheapo too. But, if that will work, I'm going to get the seeds like you do and grind it myself. The fresher the better. Keep posting your recipes. They are awesome!

  • Sounds good... My next one if it turns out might be what my wife is making me for my birthday. It's another one of the great Jennifer Eloff's recipes. I am glad you like the recipe videos.

  • Nice! Very simple and fast receipe.

  • Is flax a flavour you have to get used to? It has such a strong smell

  • The brown flax meal from like Bob's Red Mill does have a bit of a smell. I find the golden flax seed I grind myself is much better than the stuff pre-ground in the store. You can find golden flax seed in most bulk aisles, or it's also pretty cheap in bulk on Ebay. In seed form, the stuff lasts nearly forever (year or more) on a shelf.

As for the taste, the self-ground golden variety is better in that regards or less strong. It is I agree perhaps a flavor that takes a bit to get used.

  • BTW make sure you stay tuned this week... I have another recipe video coming that while slightly more work and longer to make. It is much closer in bread flavor (less English muffin-y) than this one.

  • this sounds good but you said 1-4 servings, I think I would of used the whole thing and put a patty in it with and cheese and had a burger would this have been bad for induction??

  • You might have a stomach ache if you add 2 TBS of flax right out of the gate, but all ingredients are Induction legal. Note: DANDR says you are allowed 1-2 TBS of flax for regularity sake, so with the caution about the heavy fiber dose, you should be fine with this.

  • Great!!

I made a larger batch and baked them in Texas Muffin pans. I made like a roll. They are a little small in diameter but was still good.
