Actually, watching this again, now in full screen, i can see he uses a variety of different tricks, both to fix the random shuffling, as well as to give the impression shuffling is taking place when it isn't, and in many occasions outright replacing cards from the initial deck with his own cards in the order he needs.

this is not his trick and he has done very little to change it from the original. this same effect has been performed so much better be so many other ppl tho most of u wouldnt know so it will seem like the best trick ever. check out bill malone if you wanna see this trick done amazing not just average

0:06 you can see the cards are all in order. 0:13 he doesn't mesh the two stacks together. He just pulls them apart and puts them back. 0:25 he is just reordering her cut and puts the card he took out back in. You see all the cuts he does and can tell he is leaving the two stacks askew so he can easily reorder this. It's one of the weakest performances of this trick I've ever seen.

The trick is simple. He set the deck up and gave it all false cuts to simulate the deck actually being cut. When he cut them, all he has to do is reverse the cut. Same as when he did it with Ellen, except before Ellen cut it, he made a natural break so she would cut at that area. Simple setup; big effect. Well done, James.

During the trick he shows it like he's cutting the deck. he splits the deck, flips em around and then puts it right back as it was, giving the illusion he's cutting it. At the start you'll notice he cuts the deck an even number of times. Cutting the deck an even number of times keeps the cards in the same order, just cycled a bit. (Cards start A->2; cut it twice, you'll have something like 10->2->A>K>Q>J) He can then alter the story slightly to make the trick work. Brilliant.

Sorry to ruin this trick for you all, but look carefully after he puts down the 2 red queens right at the start. EVERY "shuffle" he does after he puts the first 2 red queens down are FAKE SHUFFLES!!! Watch very carefully. He'll split the cards pretending to shuffle them, but quickly puts them back in the same way he cut them. He'll spin them around and do fancy moves, but after splitting they go back the same way he split them. This is why you never do magic on TV. The magic of rewind ruins it.

@wogolfer If you look at the beginning, the last card (later known to be the 6S) is marked with a bent corner. He separates it on Ellen's first cut and undoes her cut. On her last cut, he precuts the deck and places the halves with a slight shift where the 6S is which might encourage her to quickly cut the deck there. Had she cut it somewhere else, he would just undo the cut using the mark. However, since she cut it right on the shift, the trick looks cooler since he doesn't have to recut it.

Easy. He doesn't shuffle like he pretends in the beginning, have a closer look ;) Also, the cards wont be shuffled by cutting the cards. The order stays the same,but start and stop changes. After Ellen's last cut, and before he starts the story he resets the start/stop position to where he needs it to be, and he's back to is first card order. And so the story begins.. Just look at the clip again ;)

@cartman866 It's all in the order of the cards :) They're specially sorted before he went up stage. Than he makes it look like she can shuffle as much as she likes, but everytime she shuffes, he shuffles too, putting the cards pretty much back in the original order.. The cuts he does are fake cuts (look it up) and fake shuffle cuts (look it up too) there's not much magic going on with the trick itself, it's just the shuffling that takes skill :)
