you guys should see it this year was there 4/28- 5-1-11 its more rutted up and looks hard as shit no body would climb it we camped there the second night and didnt see anyone trying the main trail everybody was going up and down the side and or the easy part
@cjhertel - Thanks for clarifying that, as well as blessing us with your blatant disregard for the retention of intelligence and common sense.
Youtube comments...these are always worth the lol...especially when I picture people like slapnuts here actually getting worked up and typing such intellectual insults as "your a fucking fag". Very original...good show! lolz
Junksmoocher - That would be awesome. Maybe you'll fall over and break your neck...and we all could have some awesome footage of our gene pool getting just a little bit stronger!
dude that hill is a challenge ive done it on my grizzly 350 with irs, terracross tires, and a 2" lift.also done it with a rhino, thats scary, grizzly 66, and 700. easy hill with those
ya i was in a hurry, but i said that polaris razor's own this hill me and my buddies went up it two or three times with no problems at all...and it was wet
the backbone isn't that bad of a hill to climb if you go up the right side of it. There is a bad side of it too. But if you want to climb a really wicked hill at Haspin try Denny's Hill. It's at the back left hand corner of the property. Be careful bc it makes the bone look easy!
There yesterday...nearly impossible after major washouts. Had to take the creek back up. Tried it a few years ago and had to winch down from 2/3 the way...embarrassing.
I was there last weekend. Ya "F" that! it's really nasty now, and the camera view doesn't do it justice. Saw a couple brave souls go up it, how he managed to not spill his beer was impressive lol
The back bone is in good shape in this video. I was there a couple months ago and it's so much worse then that now. Definantly a white knuckle ride. It was all my Ranger with 39's and a 355 wanted. great place to wheel
loc921 Have you been there lately?! The cackbone is rutted out bad,it's nothing but rock ledge after rock ledge,I've been up it but my butthole was puckered the whole way up!
yes, its that bad, if you roll down it, your most likely gunna be hurt in some way, and if you cant get back up, then your gunna have a hella time trying to get your rig back up. theres a few abandon rigs at the bottom.
i watched the guy put that tire in the tree it says king of the hill on it! but to comment on the hill behind the drag strip if u follow the fire trail past the strip and head off to the right of the big muddy mess along the fire trail there is a hill back there on the other side of the lil creek and its a just a rocky mess and its about twice the size of the back bone just not as steep and is the only hill ive ever wrecked on!!!!
I went up there (Haspin Acres) a week ago...(10/5/08) and took my Grand Cherokee...I came down Devil's Backbone (unknowingly) to find I had a small crowd looking on by the time I got to the bottom.... I only have a 2" lift wit 30.5" tires and after circling around the trails at the bottom, ended up going back up it... wasn't THAT bad, I think there are some much more challenging hills throughout the park than Devil's Backbone.
nice... and there is no big ass hill behind the drag strip... theres little trails back there but no big hill... and id like to say proudly i went up that on my 400 ex (mods- white brothers pipe, jet kit, K&N air filter, nerf bars, renthal bars, and tach limiter, and decal kit)
What actually kills people is when people get drunk and try to get a run at it. Backbones worn smoother now, last night we got into some trails with another jeep group by the shoe tree and shit got 10x hairier than the backbone. Had a Bronco II on it's side a few times. Haspins the greatist place on earth, especially after a good downpour!
That part in one of your videos where you take the deuce through the big single rut, looks pretty familiar. This is the first video we made, back before the truck had suspension lift and a front locker.... search for Haspin Acres Oct '06

doesn't look that bad in the video but when your looking up at it in person, and you can see the pile of scrap at the bottom its pretty intimidating.

i thought the devils back bone was soposed to be realy hard and it killed people....
bigbuckkiller7 4 years ago
It is a pretty steep hill. What makes it tough is all the roots, ruts, and rocks. They throw you around, and a couple people die on it each year.
Kawasaki129 3 years ago
