It seems that VirtualDub and Media Player Classic refuse to work at the same time, making the setup you recommended impossible... Any idea how to fix it?
@Superwombat6 Yeah, it looks like my method is hard to get working now since software has updated and thigns just don't like to work with each other any more. I've actually moved on to using another capture card for my recording needs, so I haven't used the EasyCap in a while now. Since MPC is optional, another option is to split the audio line. Route one into the easycap and the other into some external speaker. You'll need 2 RCA Y-splitters to do this. They're fairly cheap.
@OtakuReborn Okay, thanks. I'll probably just record without audio playback for now, but I'll definitely look into getting those splitters. Thanks a lot, and great video! :3
You'd think the manufacturer would care about their rep and make those Window 7 Drivers available on their site. If you've got to do all this additional detective work to make the product work then by definition the manufacturer doesn't support it (anymore?). The software 'splash screen' for the software provided with the device shows copywrite years of ’1992-2006’ - so this is not up to date tech. Thank VERY much to this videos producer OtakuReborn for going well beyond the call of duty!
@ShoeUnited That's true, but it's the same reason why nobody says "Arr-Ay-Em" for RAM. You could say "You-Are-Ell" for URL, but it's a hell of a lot faster just to say "earl". ;-)
@drdev99 I've noticed that the newer version of Media Player Classic do this. You need to go to the Options (View -> Options) and look at your Capture settings. Make sure your audio capture device is correct, and I think you have to make sure your video capture device has a valid signal going into it. Newer MPCs look like they choke if not both video and audio and correctly hooked up.
Alternatively, invest in a splitter and route that sound through some other speaker system at the same time.
I had the same problem as KrazyKhemist but I found a 64bit driver that got the video to work. Another way you can do a work around is to use a two female RCA to 1/8 stereo jack and plug it into your line-in on your back panel.
i did everything you said to do in capture video and nothing is their anyway you can connect to my computer with Teamviewer and try to set it up for me please?
@KrazyKhemist I don't claim to know how everything works with the easycap. Most of everything I showed in the video I found out from experimenting. Was there any step in the video that you could not follow? Or could you follow all of the steps and still not get video showing? Also, what OS are you using?
So I got my Easycap and It came with a CD with the drive and ULead Studio on it.
And I bought an external DVD/CD thing so I could download it.
Well I have a netbook and the resolution to use ULead must be 1024x740 but my netbook only goes up to 1024x600. Is there a program where I can record from a device?
@likemike72 You need to set the appropriate audio source for your recording. If you're using the EasyCap's built in audio jack for the audio recording, then you need to select the Easycap as the audio source (the list should have it as some kind of USB device), and not what your default is (which I suspect is a microphone of some kind). In the video, I'm using my sound card to route sound into, so that's why I selected my sound card as the audio source.
@likemike72 Hmm....EasyCap has done that to me a few times where it just doesn't accept sound. That's why I use the other dongle to route the sound to my sound card usually. Try loading the easycap audio through media player classic's "Open Device..." and see if you can hear sound from that. If you can, then you may not have turned audio recording on in VirtualDub. If you can't, then I don't know what to say. Sorry. :(
Nice set of videos. Thank you for the reference for the driver. I hope you don't mind my adding links to these on my site. I actually learned a few things here.
@rwandrew077 Glad I could be of service. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve the video, feel free to tell me (via comments or messages). I did the video fairly quickly without a script in front of me, so I end up rambling a little bit.
@MultiGamingNerd You can't directly, but if you have a Video Y-Splitter and a RCA Male to RCA Male cable, then you can. I'm not sure why you'd want to since the point of the EasyCap is to capture video on your computer.

you should take the case off the easy cap so it doesnt over heat because when it over heats it messes up the sound quality

@OtakuReborn I see and can't argue the logic. URL for me dates back to around 1991 though. Earl sounds squicky.

When I go to "Open Device", MPC won't let me create a video capture filter. What do I do?
