Someone listened to Jonathan Freeman too many times. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery....down to the "hee hee hee ha ha ha hah." (which is found in none of the scoring.) This is chronic in HS productions: when you can't create a character, or be bothered to, simply copy.
@actorsnonactors Yeah, regrettably when "you're" under the gun to mount a production quickly, the most efficient way is to hand a CD to a student actor & say, "Do it this way!" In this particular production, the director was attempting to "update" a rather crusty script.. to mimic the slick Broderick revival. So, please don't criticize the young student too harshly. He was following orders. In other dialog scenes, he DID manage to create his own unique character. Oh well - it's ancient history!
Quite different from the original 1960 version, but still highly entertaining. The part with the guys on the typewriters was a great visual gag, and Hedy passing by them only made it better. The production I saw (a professional one in CT) had the girls put on the guys' jackets and dance them around like marionettes - just one aspect of the highly enjoyable H2$.
Incredible to think that this is a high school production! This is just outstanding! I agree with Geostrum2--the guy playing Mr. Bratt should consider a career in acting. He's "spot on" as Mr. Bratt! This is just great all the way around, though--many congratulations to these very talented high schoolers!
The student playing Mr. Bratt is wonderful. I hope he's persuing a career in theatre. Great direction. I nominate this school for Parade's best HS Musical school!
Oh my goodness, this is great! We're doing this for school, although I'm in the pit and I don't know what our choreography looks like. I bet it's not this awesome, though. That said, the pit sounds great, too, and this is one of those songs with awkward individual parts and rhythms, though, when played together, it sounds fine. So! Awesome job!
we're doing this musical at my school in april. i'm jenkins (or mr. jenkins) but in this song he says "you're absolutely right mr. bratt" AND "it's a company rule mr. bratt".
oh sorry. i just meant in the one we're doing, one person does two lines. i wasn't saying that there was anything wrong with yours. yours was AMAZING!!!
lol. that's pretty amazing!! A local school recently did this play and it was hilarious!! I liked Bratt much better in the local school's version, but it probably helps that i'm in love with the actor :) lol
Mr. Bratt-- I don't care what anyone else is saying, your voice is amazing! Perhaps you did crack a bit too much, but it was an incredibly intriguing stage voice, and I loved it!
Choreography was a bit sloppy. Other than that, though, this is probably the best high school production of anything that I have ever seen! Very professional!
ok so i don't want to say the f word... big FRIKKIN' deal...cry about it my goodness...ok so maybe he's not TRYING to be a drunk british but he IS trying too hard and that's obvious therefore, he comes off as what i previously mentioned.
First off, who cares if i don't choose to use the f word? big FRIKKKIN' deal. second of all, you want people to comment on a video, and they are doing so. you don't need to criticize every little NEGATIVE comment! my goodness. third of all, don't believe all you read from youtube.
Good!! I'm glad that you are fighting back. I can be a nasty SOB!! You stood-up to me, and I admire that. Whenever a comment is made without an explanation... I attack. The student-actor playing Bratt was directed to sound like the actor in the revival cast. He did! Really - thanks for the rebuttal. Ya got guts!!! I like you. Please view other clips from this HS and feel free to comment. When I see "ericabye," I'll answer honestly... honest!!!!!
So you guys did pretty good. I think that when Bratt begins to talk, that all the others shouldn't just stand there and listen...I think they should do small dance numbers during. I'm working on a production of this right now and you guys did good though. =]]]
we're doing this show and omg yours is amazing! i love the set it's so complex and beautifulll!!!!.. donno about the orchestra for this one :/ love the elevator.
We did this in high school, too. It was years ago. Folks, this is really well done! This is the 3rd posting of yours I'm watching. Really, this is very entertaining. You have real reason to be proud.
Is it really? That's awesome! My school...we're kind of doing the revival and kind of not. I don't know...either way, we aren't using that joke :( lol
hey my school is doing this show right now and the bratt in our show horrible he only got cast because no one else auditioned so lol im a techi for this and its hell to changes the set peices for the damn thing
This school "followed" the revival way for setting the scenes, so they used a unit set and had the actors move most of the set pieces. The lighting also set the location. - A lot less brain-strain!
hahah this gives me memories .. we did this play 2 years ago at my high school .. ur set is pretty awsome for this. mr bratt has a dead on voice for the charactor how weird in parts the choragraphy is the same .. but are music was alot differnt .. you can check it out i have it under not a toy .. nice work
I personally liked the actor's interpretation of Mr. Bratt in this clip. Quite accomplished for H.S. and speak/harmonizing his lyrics is harder than one thinks.
my highschool is doin this show and im finch (if you wanted to know) but the guy that plays bratt is a terrible singer... so ya ill post a vid on here if u wanna see it
i meant the bratt in my production. i havent really ever done anything to my profile, so im 17, not 20. just finnished last show yesterday, had alot of fun with that role

That was great number!
The choreography was really creative, and the whole thing looked very well rehearsed. I loved the lighting at the end!
It looks like a fun musical!!

Bratt's voice is breaking, and hes supposed to leave to get Hedy's particulars, and hes signing stuff that the men of the chorus should sing
Otherwise fun
!

Yeah - it IS fun! The cast had a great time performing this show.
Listen to the revival CD and get back to me about who "should" sing what.
leojrevlis 2 years ago
Ok, ok
but im talking the orig broadway/movie/what the script book says. its much more like, involved with the guys chorus instead of bratt

Do you have a question, or are you just quoting the script for the fun of it??
Please explain what your issue is.
