Buyers warning? You should mention how there is no level select after you beat the game. So you can't go back to previous levels and mess around with super sonic for fun or anything at all.....

Noticed a few bugs in Sonic 2... Like Sonic spazzing out through a loop or AT THE SECOND TO LAST BOSS... If you hit Metal sonic just before he goes into a ball and you kill him he'll glitch out and make it so you can't proceed.... The screen won't move so you have to wait for the time to kill you... Thus annoying as hell... and wasting a life

I got some questions. I unlocked super sonic and beat the game, sonic 3, after that. How do i go back the the first acts without losing super sonic?? If i buy sonic and knuckles on xbox live arcade, can i do the lock on thing if I also have sonic 3 on xbox live? HOW do I do the lock on on xbox live?

The upside I guess would be how freakin easy the achievements are. I finished the half of them before getting to the fourth level. The Save Feature is cool since you can save at any time even during the special zones.

I still play Sonic 1-3 on my Genesis and I find it better than being emulated on any system.

The sound quality (the high pitched thing) on the Xbox arcade is a simular problem to the Wii's Virtual Console port of Sonic & Knuckles I got. I compared that to the version on my Mega Collection + on my PS2 & the quality was much better on that port.

Also, take note that if you lock-on S3 with S&K (which I think applies to the Mega Drive & all the ports) many of the glitches are fixed. some remain though, but that clip in Hydrocity Zone you shown is deffinately fixed.

So in THIS version, after completing the game (As well as the lock-on version with Sonic & Knuckles), you cannot replay the levels, your continues are gone and, the Chaos/Super Emeralds, right?

if you've bought both sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles you can use the lock on to play sonic 3 & knuckles as the full game.

@reservoirdog666: You only need Sonic & Knuckles. Go to the bonus option and select Sonic 3 & Knuckles. This is, of course, assuming you purchased and played both games standalone.

As a quick update, Sonic and Knuckles is now on XBLA and well worth the points, I'll most likely do a video at some point about it. Next up on the Megadrive rereleases though is another of my favourites, ToeJam & Earl!

And yeah that part where he spun into a wall and died its due to the fact that in the betas for both sonic 2 and 3, you would bump into walls if you werent careful. And the coding for that feature was never deleted from that section of hydricity and a few other zones so it collides with the other codes in the game. And not knowing how to process this code, the game kills you off. Pretty sad...

that high frequency pitch you hear in angel island zone is due to the fact that you are no longer using an rf cable and now using a composite cable. More frequencies are able to get through and that annoying pitch can now be heard. And yes this can be heard on the original megadrive version if you have composite cables for them. I did. And as for the bugs before mentioned like the hit detection l, that would happen alot to me in the megadrive version too.

originally sonic & knuckles had a little cartridge port on top so you could plug other mega drive games in. you could put sonic 3 into sonic & knuckles, and then if you played that you would playthrough sonic 3 and then sonic & knuckles as if it were one game (as it was first intended). you could also play through sonic 2 as knuckles!

Sonic & Knuckles was kinda like an expansion and a patch in one for Sonic 3.

I can't wait till Sonic & Knuckles, my fav out of all retros :P

Actually..Sonic 3..is by far the EASIEST sonic the hegehog game..I think Sonic 2 was extremely hard..but sonic 3 is short, easy,and fun.

They might fix all of the sound/glitch issues when Sonic and Knucles comes out on XBLA and they connect with eachother.

And The mega drive collection did have some bugs in it as well. All games have some bugs. :D

Clipping issues have always been there, the sound is just slightly off at times and not that big of a deal.

The only actual problem is the menus being gone.

Have they really always been that bad though (the clipping issues)? I've played through Sonic 3 a fair few times over the years and I can't remember being killed so consistantly by bugs in the game... It sure has been a buggy game the whole time, but I don't remember them being as fatal or as frequent before...

And looking back at it, no, the sound isn't that bad, but anything metallic sounding is pretty damn harsh in the xbla port...

Yes, it was that buggy. When you locked onto Sonic and Knuckles, they fixed the clipping bugs. Perhaps that is where you remember it playing fine.

And the sound is a bit tingy, yes, but generally sounds fine. MD soundchip is hard to emulate.

Yeah, you're right, I didn't play Sonic 3 as much as Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I'll edit the description of this video to represent my failures!

I wonder how difficult it would be technically to take the fixes from Sonic & Knuckles and add them to Sonic 3 for XBLA. They already said they'll connect when it comes out later on, but I wonder if they could have fixed some of the originals issues or maybe just release S3&K as one game for 800 points or something... guess we'll never know!
