There were monopolies before there were many regulations and that's what caused much of the collapse during the Great Depression. Wage SLAVERY has been the basic foundation of all wealth in this country since it's inception. Whether we're underpaying actual slaves, immigrants, or third world laborers, this economy has NEVER functioned w/o an UNDERPAID labor force to make it work. BTW it was GOP TEDDY ROOSEVELT who started the progressive tax and GOP Nixon who weaned us from the gold standard.

I am a conservative libertarian, registered Republican, and I did hold Bush responsible for limiting our freedom after 9/11, however, liberals are a much greater threat to people's freedom than almost any republican.

Tax cuts strengthened the economy, but liberals wouldn't allow spending cuts. Real conservatives would eliminate half of the bureaucracy.

Sorry dbmcmillan, TAX CUTS DID NOT strengthen our economy (drinking the kool aid again, I see, neo-con). 3/4 of the wealth generated under the Bush administration went to the top 1% of wage earners and the AVERAGE AMERICAN actually saw their incomes go down by $2000 per year (that's a couple of mortgage payments between friends). Face it, all you got is "TAX CUT" chants that were proven BS and that allowed the majority of Americans to actually LOSE MONEY. AND half of the pork is GOP pork, tool.

I never said they didn't narrow the gap. The gap was widened because liberals wouldn't give up the defecit spending, which created stronger inflation which happens to devastate the poor. And I never supported so many tax cuts only for the rich. And average incomes went down due to an influx of immigration.

The only way to have a truly strong economy is by Austrian economics -abolishing most of the federal spending, abolishing the Fed, getting rid of most taxes, and getting the gold standard.
