Yeah, I don't see Mandan's routine as better than this. JIe's form and body line are flawless and she has the most beautiful rhythm. That double layout dismount was absolutely stunning. Probably the best bar routine I've seen her do. Fantastic.
@intldawn well, i agree with that, but you cna sort of tell that Jie's kips r laboured. SHe muscles them, and they r slow, and u can see her arms bending as she does it, but everything else is beautiful
@ExdeathXInfinity That's true, but a lot of the Chinese girls were guilty of that same shaky technique. They are all brilliant on the really tough stuff, but lose swing on basic transitions and struggle with stamina towards the end. hence the looseness on the kips. I have to go back on watch again, but I always felt Mandan didn't have the fluidity or smoothness of Jie. I think Jie's routine was harder, too.
Okay I'm not saying that it is difficult skill but ever notice how all the chinese routines look the same...Up to high bar. Inverted giants with twists to a jeager. Down to low bar. Toe on to high bar. Inverted giants to tachechev. Double layout dismount.
Sometimes they try the Jaeger in two different positions.
But yes, Chinese routines are boring. When was the last time you saw a chinese do a Khorkina or a gieger? Okay... Lin Li did it, but she was unconventional for a chinese gymnast...
Pang Panpan did the Gieger, but she's another unconventional Chinese.
first i am so surprise that you know who is Lin Li. she was great. from my point of view i think she did the khorkina better than kupets. but i don't understand what are you talkin about "unconventional "?
What about Mo and Bi? They both did Gaylords. Mo had the nicest hecht to high bar transition I've ever seen. Li Li used to do a German giant to Tkatchev.
Recently I have seen them getting innovative with their dismounts, as well.
it's personal preference, you can't make them think it's not boring just because you say so
I love inverted giants, but it's not everyone's favorites, some prefer gymnasts with Tweddle's release-release style, others, like me, love she Nastias and Yang Yilins who do Ono to Healy, eagle fulls dead in handstand
Should have won with that routine, it was absolutely flawless and superior to Khorkina's formerly unique routine (refreshingly updated for 2000 in which she did deserve the gold).
yes but you can really see that she has to muscle herself up to the handstand position and it somewhat affects the flow of the routine... seems like all chinese gymnasts have that same problem...
She should have atleast beaten Mandan for silver. Her routine was way better then her teammates and I was shocked when her teammate beat her down to bronze in these finals.
I felt like that when Ling Jie won silver in Sydney, I thought Yang's routine was far superior to Ling's, especially when Ling took the step on the dismount and still managed 9.837 while Yang did a near flawless set for a 9.787
@macassar88 Khorkina deserved her gold in Sydney. She upgraded her routine again and it was brilliant. Ling Jie with a hop definitely did not deserve gold and probably not even silver over Yang Yung's perfect routine with a stick.
I would have given Ling Jie the gold at these Worlds over Khorkina though. Mandan didnt even deserve bronze though. I wish Mandan was pulled from finals for Ling Jie instead of Xuan.
She reminds me so much Yang Yilin!! (sorry my english is bas)

I agree....all of her skills on this event looked very labored....she didn't have that effortless appeal that someone like Khorkina had.

Yeah kind of ironic. Jie was ripped off by a teammate here, and gifted over a teammate in Sydney.

Well, I think that Ling had better swing than Yang. However, it could have con either way. I still think Khorkina deserved bronze or silver.
