  • When he threw his Tele into the air, it poofed into greatness.

  • Gives me chills to watch Prince rip it up like that.

  • I didn't know Prince was so Awesome as guitar player!!! :-o

  • Thumbs up if after 2 years you are still looking for where Prince's guitar went

  • I got one word for Eric Clapton. PRINCE. Did it better and with more attitude.

  • For all of you wondering where he tossed his guitar at the end. It's simple, he tossed it to the heavens as a gift a tribute to George Harrison.

  • @nonameneeded405 His rodie.

  • He is so enigmatic, that he once went by a visual emblem, and then he called himself " The artist Formally known as Prince."...He's hard to figure out, but, his talent and genius are undeniable...He seems to know that his reclusivness only adds to his legend....

  • princes solo went with this song , you could feel it hitting you in the face. he put soul into it without caring, he was havin fun =D

  • not a big fan of the Beatles but i love this song. the solo was fine

  • For those who think the solo was too showy let me tell you this, As black folk we often mourn differently. being emotional by nature we allow ourselves to cry, smile, and even laugh, and play and sing uplifting music. this is not always the case but in general this usually happens.Having said all of that Prince played on this song at Dhani's request. He is a big Prince fan. So Prince did not just "put it out their" for the audience,or himself. A part of it was for Dhani Harrison too!

  • I don't think Prince's solo was too showy or out of context, either. I think he just really got into the music. I've watched this video over and over and over, and I remember watching the show that night. Totally awesome!!

  • Prince said "THIS is what a guitar solo is white boy" and proceeded to wash the floor with their shame.

  • @spunknugget My thoughts exactly.

  • Prince did exactly what you're supposed to do in a live performance- take the song to another, stratospheric level. A screaming call of love out to George's soul...

  • I finally figured out why they're so good... Chuck Norris 1:00

  • My man Prince tore it up. Beautiful rendition by all dem musicians. Jah love.

  • that solo was just sick! he threw off that guitar in the air like he didnt care, turned around and left!! man that pimp walk he did at the end was just gangsta!! prince knows he is bad!!hahaha

  • Most under-rated guitar player. Of. All. Time.

  • I have a new found admiration for "His Badness", Love that cute smirk!

  • the thing that gets me, is that it's not only extraordinarily good, but he makes it all look so effortless, and he's so god damn fast. i won't say ti's the best ever cause there are so many different styles i don't think i could chose just one... i happen to like Steve Katz on 25 or 6 to 4, with all the wah-wah... and Clapton's Crossroads BB Kings 3 O'clock blues,.(live YMCA) Hendrix's Red House,,anything by Buddy Guy or Duane Allman,etc... but clearly Prince is a astonishingly good guitarist

  • That was awesome even when Prince dap walked off the stage...BOOOYAH!!!

  • Prince shreds and rips faces off! Rock on brother!

  • Replay button is my bitch

  • @StedThompson23 LMAO co-sign

  • Prince is the complete musician. The guy can do everything yet for some reason he's only ever regarded as a quirky and eccentric singer...easily the most underrated musician ever.

  • Prince steps up to the plate and delivers a mind-blowing performance that defies what a Top 40 "pop star" should be able to do. The dude literally sets the stage on fire with his blistering solos!

Let's see Britney Spears or Lady Gaga pull off a performance like this....

This is up there with Gary Moore's performance of Red House and Look at Little Sister by Stevie Ray and Jeff Healey as three of the most electrifying guitar solos on youtube. Check out all three!

  • Prince RULES ... look at the smile on his face ... he's enjoying this ...

  • Prince is very under-rated with all the instruments he can play.

  • Dhani really seems to be enjoying Prince's playing. Looked like he was looking forward to Prince's solo. An all around great performance by everyone on the stage and a great tribute to George Harrison. Beautiful rendition.

  • wow, i how no idea he could play like that. wow.

  • @alext2963 Check out the songs "Bambi" "Purple Rain" "U Got the Look" "Let's Go Crazy" for starters..

  • Dhani knows Prince is truly paying true love and respect to his dad's song.Love the way he smiles at him

  • Young man Harrison has soooo much class in this video. And J Beiber is where?

  • happy birthday, man!

  • it looks like he gave back the guitar to God!!!

  • I honestly think Jimi's soul went into Prince when he died

  • @homeforahero Wasn't there talk years ago about Prince being considered to play Hendrix in a movie??

  • @homeforahero I agree 100%

  • @homeforahero

yep, but it stopped in Stevie Ray for a while first.

  • all around great job.

  • This is wonderful! Dhani Harrison looks just like his dad!!

  • Is there a cd of this music / OF THAT NIGHT ? Prince rocked the stage imagine the folks watching this live they sure got a treat. I get goose bumps watching prince this video. THANKS PRINCE AND ALL ON THAT STAGE. LETS NOT FORGET JIMMY HENDRIX i think he opened the door for PRINCE . AWSOME !

  • @fstop77 over the Stage is a Guy who catched His Guitar :)

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • Prince is no doubt the most underrated guitar player ever. That guy can play. Thanks for posting.

  • After seeing this and other performances of Prince, I can honestly say that I hope to one day see him live

  • el hijo de george sale por ahi es como ver a george harrison cuando era un muchacho.

  • who is the one idiot who thinks this sucks?

  • I wish Prince would rock his guitar like that more often in his new music.

    xoxoxoxoxo Prince!

  • That 1 disliker is a moron. This video is rock history and amazing!

  • wow! I've watched this at least a 100 times and I can't figure out where prince's guitar went. Awesome solo!

  • @fstop77 It went, as usual to one of his lackies (asistants) whos job it is to catch it. This can be seen on many of his performances from 2000 onwards. A bit of simple utube research will conform this.

  • @fstop77 Prince throws his guitar to his fans or a roadie.

  • @fstop77 The guitar went back to God, where it came from!!! ;)

  • Prince kick ass!!! wow

  • PRINCE ROCKS! If you have not ever seen him in concert, you have no idea what you have been missing. So talented, can play almost every instrument, and has an 8 octave pitch. Could have been a Beatle. That would have surely pissed John and Paul and George off being upstaged!

  • I LOVE THE PRINCE DO ME BABY I ADORE U U KNOW THEIRS THIEVES IN THE TEMPLE SO MAKE THAT PURPLE RAIN AND GET THOSE DIAMONDS AND PEARLS FROM AN INTERNATIONAL LOVERS LET ME LEAVE NOW BECUZ U KNOW RAINBOW PEOPLE HAVE INSATIABLE TASTE MUCH RESPECT TO THE SEXIEST MAN ALIVE

  • what happened to the tele

  • No one should be surprised by Prince's playing -- he was doing these kinds of buckwild solos back on "Let's Go Crazy."

  • Prince is so badass !

  • thanx so much for the correction..i can here paul's influence and i am a huge fan of the the beatles......

    treece

  • it may have not been the right platform ,but he did it because he knew all people who never gave him credit for his skills would be watching

  • it nmay have not been the right platform ,but he did it because he knew all people who never gave him credit for his skills would be watching

  • This is Prince's homage to Hendrix, who every 'other' guitarist after, tried to imitate, That was cleary an 'in-your-face' moment for bro. Hendrix, and a 'thank you to Harrison. Get em Prince!!!!

  • AMAZING..JIMI HENDRIX LEFT SO MUCH FOR US TO PLAY IN THE LIFE OF THE GUITAR AND MUSIC..PRINCE AND ALL INVOLVED ARE SIGNS OF GREAT MUSIC AND PLAYING..

PAUL Mc CARTNEY IS COMPLETELY THE MOST AT WRITING GREAT ANTHEMS INSIDE OF THE SONG IN MUSIC....

  • @JESSIETEXAS

My favorite beatles song .George Harrison wrote this song not Paul.

  • AMAZING

  • brb throwing away my guitar.

  • I think I just may play this nonstop for the rest of the day.

  • Prince is and always has been a strange individual and his strangeness often obscures the fact that he is an incredible guitar player that is up there with the best of them!!

  • Remember the time when Prince melted everyone's face at George Harrison's induction to the hall of fame? Good times... Good times!

  • The guy with the Sunburst Strat, I believe, is Marc Mann. He also does a similar role in the video of Eric Clapton & Paul McCartney's version. I think if Eric wants you to do his licks while he's singing - you gotta be okay...

  • Prince ..smh...The Greatness of His Talent!

  • A-MAZING!!!!

Prince is a f'kg guitar GOD!

  • Dhani is the saving grace of Rock n Roll

  • Hy guys! Does anybody know who's the guy with the sunburt Stratocaster? The one who plays liks and solo...

  • My goodness Prince really stood out on this one. Fantastic solo.

  • yo where his guitar go

  • Jeff Lynn's voice is almost angelic. Prince's solo is heavenly

  • Simply incredible. Out-freaking-standing.

  • que grande!

  • so you thought, you could' play.??????????????look at toms face.ha ha ha ha ha. georges son enjoyed it. play or get off the stage. prince killed. them. ha ha ha ha ha.

  • Price put his soul into that one, and I'm sure George would approve.

  • Prince is a good musician in his own way, but his style doesn't fit the song or the moment- its remembering someone who has died with a sad song. the guitar WEEPS not shouts for joy. George is dead and hardly anyone cares as is sadly, even his longtime band-mates/friends Paul and Ringo didn't come.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings George didn't care. He's been dead too long.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings with all due respect, this fit the moment, Prince was the main inductee that night, the first artist ever to get the induction the first year of been nominated, he was the night big profile artist, it was a big deal to have Prince playing with Tom Petty, everybody was waiting for this gig.

Prince commented afterwards that it was a honor doing this for George, that he got no idea how cool the R&RHF show was.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings His long time band mates and very good friends did a concert specifically for George's death with Eric Clapton and performed this song. Look it up some time. Pretty amazing solo by Clapton in that performance too. I guess one of George's long time friends disgraced his memory with that solo too?

  • @EnkiduV3 at the Concert for George tribute event they played the songs with George in mind, none of them tried to stand out or change things because its a tribute. If a band was playing a cover at one of their own shows then sure they can play it anyway they want, but I think its kinda not the right place during a sad song remembering a man to show off. Petty and Lynne are also big stars but you don't see them showing off during this event or Concert For George in 2002. Nice, but not the place

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Fuck you. George would've loved this solo.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings

Prince played this song to make a point .He was never given his due as a guitarist .Some people think Jimi Hendrix was the only and last only black rock guitarist.

  • PRINCE IS A GOD. G.F.Y.

  • DAYUM! he did all that.... and he balled up charlie murphy!! wtf can't he do....

  • just incredible good.

  • I think this might turn out to be one of those moments that goes down in rock history. Prince tore up the stage. Some youtube comments have suggested that Prince's solo was too showy and out of context. I disagree. He turned a sad song into a joyful celebration of George's life.

  • @richnwood2000 word...just the way i see it!

  • @richnwood2000 He made the lyrics come alive, that guitar wept. I agree with you it wasn't showy in fact if he'd underplayed it it wouldn't have done the song any justice at all, and considering Eric Clapton did the original, it had to be to that standard.

  • WOW !!! Thanks for posting this ... What a fabulous tribute to George Harrison ... LOVE them all Tom Petty,BUT OMGOSH ... PRINCE JUST BLEW ME AWAY !!! WOW ... He's sooo underrated as a guitarist >>> FREAKING AMAZING !!!

  • Dominates.

  • Who did the least singing? Prince

Who did the most talking? Prince with his guitar

Prince = a category 5 Electrical sex storm of musical proportion

  • Hellacious!

  • What I wanna know is who's head did the guitar land on at the end???

Prince doing what only he can in the way he does it, he even made his Telecaster vanish into the air at the end!!

  • @angusgrandison probably there is a roadie or someone up in the rafters who knew he'd throw the guitar and caught it and hauled it to safety for Prince. I'm sure it was planned.

  • that was sick, i got goosebumps coming out my ass after watching that

  • this is one of my favorite songs in the whole world, and having Dhani Harrison playing with Prince just rocks my day! Prince is in my top 5 favorite guitarists, along with George Harrison, and what a thrill to see him perform with these other awesome performers. It hurts looking at Dhani, who seems to be having the best time of his life playing along with all these greats..so humbling to watch.

  • all i wanna know is who booked this show.Prince's band open the show and made it too hot to follow.then they have him leave the stage smoking at the end.

  • .........Holy Crap, Prince destroyed that....nuff said

  • tom petty is the best ever!!!!!! Steve did a wonderful job drumming as well!!!

  • tom petty is the best ever!!!!!!

  • One of my favorite-ever rock moments. Prince steps out of the shadows of a high-profile rock lineup and nails his solo - to the wall. Takes it to the next level. Love how he turns around and kneels for a moment in front of George Harrison's kid, then staggers away. And what the *h* happened to his guitar after he tosses it up into the air at the end? I personally think Harrison reached down from heaven and grabbed it...

  • @mojowoikin13 Harrison's kid has a name u know. his name is Dhani Harrison

but I do agree that George reached down from Heaven and grabbed the guitar so he could jam some more

  • @mojowoikin13 What DID happen to the damn guitar, though? damn!

  • @mojowoikin13 Prince's guy (the one who holds him up when he leans back over the edge of the stage) catches it. I saw this when it originally aired and was sorely disappointed when they left that part out of this video. I wondered how long they had to practice that move because Prince doesn't seem to be even looking when he tosses the guitar over his head and his guy seems to so effortlessly catch it.

  • Prince kicking a**...awesome

  • lets face it. Prince simply stole this one

  • whoa....

  • I don't know what to say other than INCREDIBLE.....! George would be proud.

  • seems kinda strange(i think) to have prince next to people like tom petty and jeff lynne, who are in completely different genres. i dunno, hes just on a ddifferent stage then them thats all and he just seems out of place

  • @ThreeSpheres909 Prince has actually written songs for people of every genre. Judging by his playing ability, the only way he'd be out of place is because he has better technique.

  • I tell you what,,, I don't know who the dude is that is playing the "normal" lead solo throughout the song but whoever he is, he masked Eric exactly from first bar to last. What is his name? To anybody that plays you know that that ain't an easy solo to play exact but he does it. Oh, Prince ain't no slouch either.

  • @gjtsr1 He is the talented Mark Mann from the 70's group Traffic. Steve Winwood from Traffic is on keyboards

  • all you can say is Damn!!!!! Prince stop hurting them!!!!!!

  • i cant stop watching this!

  • prince is the coolest. great tribute!

  • Hugoposh you are sooooo right i cant stop watching this vid

  • im tellin ya man. that cat aint human.

  • I wish I was Prince's guitar!

  • @TheAutonomous1 no ty i dont feel like getting shreded like crazy and then thrown who knows where

  • if only jimi was there

  • I don't doubt that Prince has musical ability. He's withstood the test of time. However, I don't believe this performance was such that he had to act in his usual arrogant manner! Guitar wise all he did was several bends and follow simple blues scales. To compare him to the likes of Jimi is absurd! There's hundreds if not thousands of better guitarists. Vai, Satch, Malmsteen, Loomis, Borderick, etc.. These are REAL underrated musicians as your mom and pop wouldn't know who they are!

  • @zombie0990 Open your ears and if you`re not able to listen and to recognize what great guitar, piano, bass player Prince is..read Vai´s statements, what he´s talking about Zappa AND Prince...some of the greatest ones! And sorry....Ingwie is fast as hell, no doubt...but only that! And what is arrogant manner??? Did you ever seen gigs with Zappa,Dylan...Tom Petty of course... or maybe even the Oasis brothers! I give a shit on arrogant manner...if it sound´s good!

  • @wowikowski I'm sorry, no idea what your nationality, but I had to re-read your post multiple times to get some sort of meaning from it. From what is understandable Steve Vai has ALWAYS been an extremely humble artist citing hundreds of undeserving musicians as better than he (Ala, Orianthi.) In regards to the definition of arrogant, there's resources that can help you interpret.

  • @zombie0990 Sorry for my english, not my language, try to give my best! We´re talking about who´s the "best, better" guitar player.Sure, its always a question of definition.Classical guitar players or maybe Paco de Lucia are much better in technical way as these kind of rock guitar players. But for me important is the cooperation between technical and emotional playing.Saw Prince a few weeks ago in berlin...2,5 hours just very good live music...no statements,no wasted time!

  • And I know the definition of arrogant. But thats not my point of view.If I would look at that, I would have to burn my vinyl, cds&tapes. All this famous artists became sometimes arrogant or weird.Elvis,Jim Morrison,Miles Davis,Michael Jackson...many others. So what? There music count, not there privat things.I give a shit what Prince is talking or whats going on in his privat war against record companies...I´m only interests in his music&concerts.Go there..and tell me his not one of the greatest!

  • @zombie0990 check Whole Lotta Love by Prince here on yt, maybe it change your mind!

  • @wowikowski Lastly, Why would anyone stand up for a musician that believes he is so "TALENTED" that he despises websites such as Youtube that actually work to promote has beens such as the "purple one." He has even gone to an extreme of removing videos of himself playing songs that were not even his to begin with! Prince is the epitome of arrogant clearly out of his mind! The release of his next album has been halted as he says the world is not worthy of his music!(Keep it Kayne no one cares)

  • @zombie0990

man steve vai is tremendously overrated. and you want to talk about arrogant, that dbag plays with a fan underneath him to make sure his hair flaps all over the place while he's soullessly shredding.

  • Amazing interpretation by a surreal talent....wish I could see him and Jimi Hendrix performing together, that would be so amazing....

  • Prince fucking kills it Dead.

  • Prince is the most all around talented musician that has ever lived. No one can compete with him. His songwriting has gotten better every five years since 1979. He will soon be in the songwriters Hall of Fame.

Prince is also underrated as a guitarist. And may I remind you what Miles Davis said about him in their sessions. Prince was playing the drums in their session and Miles was very impressed and said that Prince basically showed his skills at the drop of a hat and did not miss a beat!!!

  • Prince is the best!!

  • Prince - Guitar Live (Tv 2008) is completely amazing as well.

    /watch?v=QuzB_0bIAgw

  • ORGAZM!

  • What a badass Prince is, just walks off at the end haha

  • MY GOD!! PRINCE IS THE BADEST MAN IN THE PLANET!

  • Nothing compares to him!!!

  • Fuck'em up PRINCE. CUT"EM. I LOVE U XOXO

  • prince is what jimmy h. could have been if he would have lived

  • Just goes to show that when prince walks out on a stage, any stage. He just takes over...just awesome!

  • really great for a totally dated song with boring chords and a dirge-like feel...bravo...sounds like a funeral procession with a cliche'd guitar solo and tone......i will take s.p. any day over this snooze, or speed metal or chopin ..if you don't know what s.p. means then you prolly never will..

  • Dios Mio!! Best live performance ever capture on camera, Prince is electrifying!!!!!

    Dios!!!!

  • holy hell..

  • Prince is a freaking musical genius!!!!!

  • prince is the most badass guitarist ever!

  • Great tribute! And Prince is just an amazing performer. But I already knew that. Very few people can rival Prince Live in concert. He's so talented and has such stage presence that you can't take your eyes off of him!

  • As someone who fell in love with the Beatles during high school, saw my man Jimi in his hometown in Seattle in 1969 and was blown away, and has seen Prince in a small venue just a couple of years ago, I was watching this performance awestruck and teary-eyed ... Oh, man. How I miss George, John and especially Jimi! But SOOO glad the mega-talented Prince is still with us! (And spooky how much Dhani looks like his dad.)

  • they only gave him #14 on the gibson guitar top 50 guitar players of all time. WTF! that was a travesty. he, at least deserved top 5 honors.

  • PRINCE, you are absofuckinlutely awsome! The best performance ever.

  • style. pure style. happy 52nd birthday prince.

  • For real, Prince is the greatest musician ever!! fuck!

  • Dhani looks just like George!

incredible solo by Prince, i like how he just throws the guitar at the end lol

  • i had to burst milk out my nipples so no body would notice i was crying....and i'm a dude so that was hard :z

  • I just got chills. He's so amazing I feel like any words I use to describe him would just fall short .

  • Prince is the greatest musician EVER!! Guitar is just one of the many instruments he's mastered. Who else can perfect different genres like him (funk, rock, blues, pop, jazz) and replace any member of his band himself and not lose a step write his own songs, self produce and step into a recording studio and create an entire album/work of art all by himself doing all the vocals and play every instrument (as he's been doing since he was only 20)......? NOBODY!!

  • Amazing...so incredibly amazing!!!

  • He aint even sweatin'.... The man aint even sweatin'

For all the haters out there, ya'll better recognize. Prince is hands down the greatest all around musician of our life time.

  • God damn PRINCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've known for about 20 years that Prince rocks ass. This is just more proof...

  • clearly not the headliner of this show, Prince just couldn't help being the showman that he is. Move over old guys, the prince has the floor.

    Gr8 solo

  • Comment removed

  • hands the guitar back to god

  • say what you want about Prince, love him/hate him.......the guy is fucking phenomenal!! easily one of the most under rated guitarists ever, and the dude has such stage presence, great performer, amazing artist, fucking guitar hero!!!

  • Other than Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Prince and Dhani Harrison who are the other players? It looked like the piano player was more concerned at watching Prince play his parts rather than playing the melody. And maybe because the bass is so low in the mix, you can't tell if the bassist is really playing or not.

  • That is a tribute ... indeed..

Unbelievable really!! i can keep on watching this forever !

    thanks for the post

  • 1° Jimi

    2° Prince

    3° Rory Gallagher
