  • I <3 Hole.

  • I forgot how much I loved this song. This poor woman went through so much, and then the media just want to give her more shit to sift through. Amazing singer/artist/woman.

  • A VERSION of this was written and recorded in the '80s by Courtney and Kat Bjelland's band. I'm presuming Courtney wrote the lyrics in all versions of it because the lyrics in the original one appear in her diary, and they don't sound like something Kat would write. Courtney is a better lyricist than Kat. This 1998 version of the song is almost entirely different except for the "put on my best Sunday dress" line. The melody is similar as well. Search "Best Sunday Dress" by the Pagan Babies.

  • ok one day many f#ckers will say:''she was an amazing artist''.no one really understands right now how important she is as an artist.her songs have so much meaning and merit.it's a pity they all remember her ''bad moments'' and not the good ones.and i talk as a nirvana fan if you mind.nirvana and hole taught me the value of music with truth and soul.

  • @theDaguerreotypist i always thought the "Pale Blue Eyes" lyric was referencing "Pale Blue Eyes" by Velvet Underground, often covered by Hole. Couryney likes to dick w/ the minds of ppl she thinks r "lesser" than her, shes very /subversive/. perhaps she gets off on ppl assuming "Kurt had blue eyes! awe she lubbed him!". this version is from the Celebrity Skin sessions, and that new refrain is sung terribly off-key in places. its interesting tlkin abt this.

  • @standingontruth1 suck on an egg. or an altar boy, whichever one floats yr boat (; do u need a psychiatrist? would u be institutionalized? Sigmond Freud died for yr schizophrenias and rose on the third day, prescription in hand, to rid u of the demons that plague yr better judgement.. SIGMOND SAVES!!!! (DOT) FUCK OFF!!

  • its funny how Courtney's "Kali" to Kurt's "Shiva", always reviled, feared and cast out because she is a strong woman who "Tramples" all over his "God-Given-Right to-Supremecy". Shes a legend in her own rite, and those who love her will never forget how she has touched us.

  • the song was written by Courtney Love and Kat Bjelland in the 1980s, its not abt Kurt. and im pretty sure Courtney doesnt need help writing lyrics, her father taught her how to write poetry. 'Letter To God' yes, ill give u tht, but these words sound purely Courtney, Kat's lyrics are NOTHING compared to Courtney's, case in point: compare "Babydoll" by Hole and "Babydoll" by Katastrophe Wife, like night and day.

  • @hashfromplan9 the original version of this song had quite different lyrics, though... i can't say for sure but it sounds very kurt-oriented... with the "pale blue eyes so young" and iuno where the lyrics here were transcribed from but when she sang this song live; she usually sang "watching you burn out" or "watch and you burn out" (i can't tell) over the end which makes me think of kurt's neil young reference of "it's better to burn out than to fade away"... i could be wrong, though...

  • i simply love her and her voice

  • What is this song about? It isn't about Kurt, right?

  • Courtney is so unbelievably gifted. If sit down and take apart her lyrics.....You'll find out how brilliant of an artist. So all the haters try to write a song better than this..I dare ya!!! I love you Courtney!!!

  • Best Song ever. Why wasn't this put one of Hole's LP's??????

  • hmmmmm i wonder wat she wants to confess?? jk i love courtney and kurt <3

  • all time fav song thankzz band : (

  • Long Live Grunge!!!!

  • Beautiful song from Courtney...

  • is this a song for kurt cobain ?

  • @Carousel09bomb if you mean after he died no Malibu was, If you mean still alive idk i just know he helped her write some songs

  • @Carousel09bomb no this song was from courtney's old band Peagan babies way before she met kurt ..(sorry if my english is bad xD)

  • people from courtney's hometown growing up said she walked around to several people and attempted to bribe them with money to kill him. can't remember the video the documentary is on but yeah, killed him or sent someone to kill him or not, her music was real.

  • I'm not Hole fan for long time, but I love this music♥ Is this song about Kurt Cobain ("Watching you burn... " I think, It's according "It's better to burn out than fade away".. and "Pale blue eyes.."- Cobain's awesome eyes♥ and more.)?

  • *thought

  • Is this song not about Cobain? He was cremated, right?

  • @BigBugBuzz Yeah. He was. I though that, too. This was from after he died, so that makes a lot of sense.

  • @BigBugBuzz yeah, he was cremated, then his daughter (francis bean cobain) scattered his ashes into the aberdeen river.

  • very sensetive!

  • Court you are amazing :D

  • Most of this was written by Kat but yeah I love Hole and courtney and i do think kurt was killed sometimes, but I dunno if courtney did, but this is great anyway just as everything hole related and all

  • @MissScabtree13 fuck you

  • @SythDarKProductions I'm a huge fan hole and she is one of my greatest inspirations, at least I'm not bashing her, so what if I think something is not right? and it's not even always, just sometimes, so don't say that to me, cunt. I never said anything offensive about her like 50 assholes out there, so shut up AND YES if you look at pagan babies BEST SUNDAY DRESS or sugar babydoll, this was written by Kat, some of the lyrics, this is Hole's version.

  • @MissScabtree13 courtney wuved kurt u fag

  • @SythDarKProductions You ened to learn how to spell, and yeah I think she did, and other times I don't think she did and I think she wanted fame. Non the less, I'm not bashing her, I'm saying I love her, even though I don't know what happened, so go ahead and act like a child and hating me for no reason... as if I was a dumb ass Nirvana fan that bashes on Courtney for "killing" him. maybe she did, maybe she didn't maybe someone else did, maybe Kurt did want to go. So fuQ u u fag ♥

  • @SythDarKProductions and also

    A. Just mentioned Kat Bjelland wrote most of the lyrics

    B. Mentioned Kurt because the lyrics reminded me of him

    C. Just stating my opinion on the kurt uncertainty, don't want to argue on if she loved him or not, that's enough spamming

  • @MissScabtree13 ur a weak little fag ball fuck this im going back to heroin

  • @SythDarKProductions LMAO, I've been through what courtney has gone through, okay do your drugs, little cunt :)

  • @MissScabtree13 okay :)

  • @SythDarKProductions fuck heroin

  • I think a lot of these people really need to seperate the artist from their body of work. In other words, Courtney Love the social persona, is whole different ball game to Hole. I love early Hole. But I do not know Courtney Love personally and therefore cannot possibly assess her character. For more info, please read Death of The Author by Roland Barthes. It basically sums up how an artist should be percieved by their work, not by their biography. Judge the ARTnot the artist!

  • a lot of people in the media or other who hate courtney love, probably never her and her bands music before...because obviously her music says it all, its great and once they hear her music then they will realize how ignorant they are...:)

  • what album is this song from? <3

  • @DarkIsis80 ditto...I ask ppl what bands they like (even tho I couldn't care less) just so they can ask me

  • haters gonna hate

  • aquelos tiempos .... esta cancion la encontre en un cd d la revista española rock sound.... ayayayay buuuuuuuuuu csm recuerdops recuerdos recuerdos

  • I love Nirvana and hole.I don't know what happend if she was involved or not if she was I'll hate the person.....not the music because both people could be assholes and they still made good music

  • I don't like Courtney at all as a person but at least I can admit she's a talented musician. The woman is a fucking guitar goddess. Haters can go fuck themselves.

  • It bugs the shit out of me that she is portrayed as some kind of monster. She's an extremely talented musician and she's beautiful.

  • I too an totally disgusted and appalled by all these idiots that still project all their fear and self hatred on Courtney because she is such an easy target.

Not one person who is spewing this BS knows her or her life at all. Courtney is so raw and so over the top with her emotions and so real that it really bothers people who are emotionally compromised so they take their own darkness and vomit it on her.

Name one women in rock today who makes her emotions this real and this accessible.

  • Dear Courtney Love, you are my inspiration in life. When i tell most people that, they never understand just for the simple reason they cant or will not understand the truth in your music. Your music sings to me and it is the closes thing I have to my mom.

Thank You for always being honest.

  • Whoa, I first and only heard this song from Hole's MTV unplugged! Never heard the entire version (and not acoustic) one 'till now. Thanks so much for this. :) Since '94 I've dug Hole and always felt like I had to defend that.

  • @DarkIsis80 Best female musician and songwriter I have ever heard. Loved this gals music for 20 years now and I hope she plays 20 more.

  • @davedorger She's VERY underated for her music. So true!

  • @davedorger Agreed. She is VERY underated when it's about her & "Hole's" music. It just gets frustrating when people always smirk or some crap like that when I mention that yeah, I like her. ;)

  • @DarkIsis80 A lot of people would rather blame her for Kurt Cobain's death then admit to themselves that he was mentally ill due to a drug addiction. No one wants to see their hero destroyed. I suppose that is a normal response but not fair at all to her. I have no idea what kind of person she is but I never get tired of her music.

  • @DarkIsis80

ikr agree with you both i feel for her soo bad even know about kurt

and she is a awsome person and i love her :D

  • I love it when people ask what my favourite band is, and I'm like Hole ;D and they're like O_O WTF is Hole?

oh, only a major grunge band fronted by bad-ass Courtney Love.

love the fact i stumbled upon their music by accident years ago and since then ive released all my teenage angst playing their music on guitar. love them with a PASSION

  • @jkvedalovemusic Hahaha, people react the same way with me! So annoying...lol!

  • Cool song. What album is it on?

  • Yeh lol whats wrong with ppl huh? If a artist died he is not dead or he s murdered lol simple souls. Kurt just had alot problems, ADD , heroin addiction , he was fat up with live.

  • courtney is a goddess...people must see the beauty of her work and not the shit that happened in her life..ok she was the wife of kurt cobain but that doesn't mean that in every hole video there must be comments of how kurt died or that she killed him..

  • @courtneycob there was no way she could've killed him anyways, in my opinion.

  • I have not heard a song this strong in a LONG time. I love ot.

  • ooohhh i love this song...geez, i didn't even know courtney is so talented :o

  • Hole is one of those bands with talent but without fame

Hole is the best band in the world and like Kurt said Courtney Love is the best fuck in the world

  • This is a beautiful melody, and even the words are great. Problem is, I can't help but think this is a Cobain melody. It is sure inspired by his "universe".

  • @BigBugBuzz an embryonic version of this song was recorded in the mid eighties with her and Kat Bjelland's band The Pagan Babies (look it up on here), way before she even knew of Cobain... no doubt Hole and Nirvana influenced each other but sometimes people give Kurt way too much credit and act as if he was the only one who could create pop hooks when even he would argue otherwise

  • @xopioxn you are correct i just listened to the pagan babies version not too long ago. this is merely a cover. i am a kat/kurt/courtney fan myself, but i have to agree with you. people do give kurt too much credit...dont get me wrong he will always be talented in my book. but he wasnt to the only person of the 90s who could translate emotion into song.... another thing...on a side note, i wish people would stop all the arguing and just enjoy the music. :)

  • @xopioxn i agree. Listen to the album "pretty on the inside" and in one of the last song you can hear "best sunday dress" for 20 seconds. This album was signed by Hole but maybe the embryonic version is older

  • @BigBugBuzz at first, kat bjelland wrote it actually, as courtney said hole made it more punk

it doesn't matter which song she sings, even if it's a beatle's one, people say the same"kurt kurt kurt" pff

  • when this song was written Nirvana didn't even exist.

  • @albinofeliz

no, this song was written by courtney and kurt

and she released it later after he passed.

  • When I read those comments that say that Courtney killed Kurt, I just have to think how much it has to hurt her to know that people are talking shit like that about her.

  • "You know man, she's my wife, and if you diss her you're dissing me."-John Lennon when Yoko was blamed for The Beatles splitting up. Kurt would say the same thing if you really knew him. This comment is dedicated to every Courtney Hater.

  • i liker nirvana but courtneys better i think like why do people have to think i dont lol

  • KURT WAS A DOPE HEAD IM A DOPEHEAD TRYING TO RECOVER I HAVE BEEN IN AND OUT OF REHABS THE LAST 2TO 3 YRS AND DOPE MAKES YOU WANNA KILL YOURSELF SO SHUT UP WITH THE WHOLE HE DIDNT KILL HISSELF

  • @bigmilan69 ......yup...the most plausible scenario is that kurt did indeed kill himself (occam's razor anyone?). As far as your addiction is concerned, IT CAN BE DONE!!! I shot dope for 7 years; it stripped me of everything imaginable. After years of failed attempts at getting clean, I have finally gotten some time under my belt (2 years). Trust me, it gets easier. I honestly thought that i would die a junkie but, contrary to what you feel right now, it doesnt have to be that way. GOOD LUCK!

  • PLEASE, if she did should would have been caught by now!!! but years and years of being "innocent" haha. yeah right. and as so many have said before and after deedeearemaster...quit bringing up, asses! its all in the past.

    GOOD Song! :D

  • it's so obvious this is about kurt

  • people should look in to the facts, of how kurt died, for the millionth time she did NOT kill him, and for all you fuckers who believe what th media say, yuor going to live a very sad life ? koz everything they say is sorry to say it, FAKE

  • @TheBriidgette

Yeah, but the media says that Kurt committed suicide, so your not helping your argument any....Just sayin.

I have no side in this argument, by the way.

  • "Put on my best sunday dress

and i walk straight into this mess of mine"

thats exacly how i felt whenever i walked into the assistnat priciples office to discus my "behavoiur" Courtny youed be proud :) the purpes of youth is to challenge corruption.....

  • this song makes me think of kurt and courtney for some reason. always made me cry.

  • I see Kurt in every song she writes...once a believer in the "conspiracy theory", I can't believe it anymore. I feel her suffrage

  • I see Kurt in every song she writes...once a believer in the "conspiracy theory", I can't believe it anymore. I eel her sufrage

  • i miss her so much she was gold in the 90s but still has it. shes just amazing, her and amy lee. this katy perry justin bieber poppy shit is ruining music. i want grunge back. or at least some talent.

  • its funny how sick and paranoid our society is blaming her for his death....its just sick..i've always felt so sorry for her....i feel very sorry for kurt and dont blame him in any way...but seriously the guy screwd up her life...the guy left her with a child....and on top of that she gets the blame...come on people almost every song she ever wrote is about him....theres no conspiracy the world is simpler than it seems

  • @sergsfault wow. i cant even begin to tell u how wrong u are, seriously.

  • I learned this song today.

    < 3

    awesome.

  • WOW! this song has Kurt written all over it.... so beautiful!

  • trying to learn this on guitar, fucking amazing song :D wish it was on one of the albums :/

  • I think courtney was a better singer than Court Cobain quite far.

  • Is this new or old

  • @ThrasherJesus This is a cover they did quite a while ago.

  • this song is so beautiful, courtney didnt kill kurt. r.i.p

  • @lollipop08xo She hired someone lol, one crazy bitch, but i still love the music.

  • this is courtney/hole at the top - the song is amazing. fucking love it

  • what a lovely song about cocaine

  • @CrazyShadyLady cocaine or Herione???

  • @calliope451 im not sure,hmmmmm

  • i love this song

  • beautiful

  • beautiful

  • am i the only one or doesen't this song reminds you of 'house of the rising sun'? XD

    i'm stupid...

  • best band ever!

  • you have a good taste in music

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song

    8-8

  • "Softer, Softest"? That's what this reminds me of from "Live Through This"

  • I LOVE HER.

  • I love the way her voice gets louder and the emphasis on the words to the song.

  • Brilliant song. Hole are one of those bands that make the hairs stand on my neck. So memory invoking.

  • I love you Courtney, you're the only one I can sing along with and sound good!

  • Man, every Hole video's comment section is overcome with retarded fuckers insisting Courtney killed Kurt. Get over it cuntspawn, he's dead as roadkill and if anything the "murder"/suicide ensured his legacy, guaranteeing legions of emo faggots would be able to "relate" with him and his profound, deep, beautiful sadness for generations to come. If you want to talk "murder or suicide?!?!?!?" or "Courney is a HOASSBITCH" at least post your bile as a comment to a relevant video. Hole was 4, not 1.

  • @deedeearemaster Bud i think that you dont understand how it works. She killed the great man then took all his money. Shes a crazy fucker looking for a buck. Without Kurt shes shit and is without his great brain.

  • @deedeearemaster I think that I have fallen in love with you, based entirely upon the awesomeness of this comment that you posted here over 9 months ago. I would go so far as to say that, in my book, you are balls deep in awesome. Please accept this as my awkward compliment to you.

  • @deedeearemaster So the response is to insult Kurt? The correct response is to let assholes be assholes, and correct their ignorance, not to become one as well. I loved Kurt, and came to love Courtney when I bought Live Through This. They both have a place in my heart and record shelf. This argument has been nothing but disrespectful to them both. Kurt had clinical depression and lost his step. No reason to hate anyone for it. God Bless the most talented couple in rock history!

  • @deedeearemaster

I love you and I don't even know you!

You wrote everything I was gonna say :)

  • beautiful tears of hate and sorrow...love it

  • thank you so much for uploading this.

  • the song was written by kat bjelland

  • @phillipjfry1979 Man, your dad is a bit of a pig. And mister you are no Phillip J fry! You made Bender sad.

  • @phillipjfry1979 u listened to it douchebag!!

  • @l1amora and your probobly three hundered pounds and have ugly cottage cheese thighs. Have another snickers and stfu woman.

  • @phillipjfry1979 say whatever makes you feel better loser

  • @phillipjfry1979 Cottage cheese thighs souns ever so slightly endearing.

  • @phillipjfry1979

Ahahahahahahah, yeah, because Kurt wrote a song about himself AND he did it 4 or even 5 years after he died ;)

  • @Obscuressss he was alive for live through this, which coulda been a nirvana album, and she got all his notes so im sure she had a few songs you pull out now and then. By celebrity skin she was using professional writers. AHAhhhahahha...dork.

  • @phillipjfry1979 sorry, but you are so FUCKING stupid. Best sunday dress is (Japanese) bonus track on Celebrity skin (released in 1998). Also, listen to the lyrics. "Watching you burn!" -> reallyyyy, so Kurt write a song about his death ;) (Kurt was cremated, so it's fucking obvious that song IS written about him AFTER his death).Btw. all that "Kurt wrote all songs on Live trough this" is bullshit. They wrote songs on In Utero and that album together. Get over it, kids.

  • @phillipjfry1979 oh, man, this is beyond crap. I can't believe you're going sooo low and insulting women. chauvinistic pigs (go ask your daddy to explain you what chauvinist means) like you should be kicked in the testicles and berried alive. or worse than that. "put on my best sunday dress" - Kurt wrote that, right? and Courtney and Kurt wrote together lyrics for Life trough this and In Utero. Courtney wrote most of the Pennyroyal Tea, actually. But no one bitches about that.

  • @Obscuressss thats not true at ALL

  • wow :) <3

  • Love this, love her, a song I'll never get tired of ever! <3

  • sound like funeral's song, sad but beautiful

  • @gorgeousmia waant it at my funeral.theyll have to put blue contacts in my eye

  • @gorgeousmia I want this song on my funeral ;)

  • i love this song

  • i created a poem from this song. Courtney Love help me through life in so many ways, she showed me whats coming and how to take it. thanx love

  • good to hear that wtfply09!

  • @wtfply09 right the fuck on.

  • @wtfply09 i cry as i type this...yeah..RIGHT ON.

  • i love this song :]

  • Love this song!!!!

  • courtney love <3

  • yeah this song is old. It was originally written back when she was still playing with Kat Bjelland in Sugar Baby Dolls. Its a shame it was never put on a record. Its amazing :)

  • its on the celebrity skin single.

  • rape me

  • @tomekszok Do it and do it again!

  • this is a wicked video. it almost looks like she isnt moving at all. i cant even see her lips moving. crazinesss!!!!!!

  • i was thinking the same thing.....!!!!!

  • best ending ever... love hole love courtney!!!

  • one of the saddest songs ever, i think its about kurts cremation but also more of a metaphorical burning. how he quoted neil young in his "suicide" note and said it was better to burn out than fade away

  • Well hopefully its not another one of the songs she apparently wrote b4 kurt died and then released not long after his passing. Lots of songs she does sound like they have to do with Kurt.

    It's chilling:P lolol

  • yeah i just remembered after posting that, she did write it long before he died. you can hear it at the end of one of the songs on pretty on the inside i think

  • It's creepy, ties in with lots of things eh.

  • No I believe this song was made before Kurts death

  • Kat Bjelland mentions Best Sunday Dress in ''Lashes"

  • I dont know why but i found hole's drummer so cool!!! She's just awesome!

  • I fucking LOVE this song .... my boyfriend and i love hole and nirvana and he just passed away and i completely understand the lyrics of this song.... it makes me feel like someone understands

  • Respect!

  • I love the way her songs develop!

  • me too

    good perception

  • One of the greatest songs ever written, sung, performed, or conceived.

  • haunting.....

sounds like its about kurts cremation..

    rip kurt xoxo

    love this song!

  • cremation gives me the creeps. Something I dont like about burning people, dead or not.

  • @EverythingZen14

    ashes to ashes....

rot or burn, the choice is yours
