And there are certain pieces I enjoy from modern Green Day, AFI, Blink, Offspring, etc, but the fact remains that they all chose the route of becoming more marketable vs. staying true to their base. It's their choice, but I don't like the idea of those guys trying to squeeze every last dime out of their fanbase, which was largely blue collar for a long time. These days, it's just rich kids trying to fit a scene.

Back in the good old days when Blatz and Filth and shit were playing, they would have spit on this record. Just like any music though, punk rock changes. You won't find bands like them these days, you'll find bands like Nofx, and Rancid, and all them. Good music of any genre can't just stay the same. Internet mixes weren't really a threat yet. At the time, I took it to mean that overall, punk's integrity was dying, an approximation of the industry as a whole. It still makes sense.
