  • Nice review.

Thie biggest peoblem for Continuum for me was time. Baal going back in time was fine, but the effects of this on the main time-line made no sense. It just vanished peice by peice in no particular order. Worse is that it is incosistant with how time-travel worked in SG1, alternate universes...

Ark of Truth was meh. The problems with pacing are mainly do to its origions. Apreantly it was origionally going to be its own season.

  • The Ark of Truth was ok but Continuum was brilliant!!! The storyline was interesting and visual effects were great. This based-on-TV show movie was as great as Babylon 5 and Farscape's films. All the actors/actresses did a wonderful job but Ben Browder, Claudia Black and Michael Shanks were just brilliant!!! I wish creators of TV shows Lexx, Earth: Final Conflict, SeaQuest and The 4400 made movies like this one

  • OMG 2:25 hell yeah! I hope thats in the movie!

  • This movie wasnt what i expected. I thought it would be much more longer, and ive only seen the 2nd series of sg1 so i was kind of lost when watching the movie. I found the plot pretty predictable too.

  • You know what else didn't make sense man, they didn't explain what happened to Anubis in the alternate reality. I wonder if Baal imprisoned him or something of that nature. Anubis was a badass who couldn't be beat by the combined efforts of the system lords. I hope they do something interesting with the moon base in the next SG -1 movie. SG Universe had better be as good as SG -1 & SG Atlantis. I want to see those evil asgard come back for revenge in SG Atlantis: Extinction.

  • Stargate Continuum was a fun epsiode but not really a great movie. It had lot of fun little things and seeing old characters come back. But we have seen the time travel plot so many times before. You hit the nail with the fact they tell whats going on instead of show you. A informative and entering review as always.

  • good review, i agreed with almost everything. i agree that stargate needs to come back to theaters, but i also feel that after continuum, whats the point? in my view, a theatrical stargate movie should be good old fashioned battling egyptian alien-gods. thats all over with now and id rather go for a star trek like relaunch in a few years than have some random wraith, replicator or destiny themed movie

  • hey random question for all stargate or star trek fans if for some reason somehow there was a new episode of stargate and a new episiode of star trek on at the same on diffrent channels which would u watch.

  • Love the 'you will post & subscribe...' at the end with Apophis.

  • "Kree Shak Apothis!" translates to "No one fuck's with Apothis!"...he said it often back in the older episodes, and that's how I always translated it...

  • hmm you seemed to have replied to the wrong post

  • lol yah...so did you? haha

  • @DaveTheJackal Nah Stargate > Firefly > Star Trek: TNG for me (Hated Voyager & DSN)

  • dude i have a comment about toneing down the violince in the show did u ever see the 2 frist episodes.

  • Yah I did...and they are remaking the original pilot to make it more family friendly...meaning no boobies as well : (

  • dude there was i was shocked to see this one part though where u actully see a girl compeletely naked i was like wow....but this was on the dvd lol but still lol.

  • I enjoyed both movies, but the defeat of adria was waaaay too easy!! she was as bad ass as any gaoul'd system lord. i agree with airandsun80, continuum would have been so much better if it was 2 hrs, i found myself wanting to know more about their "normal" lives, and how it effected them.

  • oh!! star trek is better than stargate.

    sorry but is true.

  • I hope you are talking about the original series or TNG? Otherwise, no chance!

  • i think compareing stargate to star trek is like compareing star wars to star trek it in the same league but honestly i dont think u can compare them star trek and star wars are both equaly amzaing in there own rights.

  • love stargate.but both films total shite.

  • loved your review...exactly what i thought.

  • thanks! I appreciate it!

  • what really pissed me of with this is that ba'al had is jaffa wear t-shirts wtf. secondly where on chulak would they have cream for teal'c to jerry curl his hair?

  • It's so true. He loves the gap!

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah i noticed that. Jack just turned into a regular General. He just sits around now so he became fat.

  • IMO, I think this movie was damn near pitch perfect. Your comment about SG-1 telling instead of showing well....I think the whole point about SG-1 was that it was a more plot-driven Stargate than the '94 movie. I think they spent just enough time on the action and devoted more to the dialogue which was awesome.

Further more, every movie, book, cartoon, song, ANYTHING, is recycling a plot. Yes time travel has been done before but that doesn't mean they did it better.

  • It would be nice to see a silver screen film based on SG1 and/or Atlantis. I'm sure they could produce something truly amazing. Not impuning the Ark of truth or Continuum though.

  • I always felt the Jaffa in the original Stargate Movie from 1994 were kick ass. There were like only several of them but they were vicious, animal like and scary as hell. Plus their staff weapons would blow you across a room into a steaming heap. How many times did Teal'c get shot in Continuum? Still...he is T'eal'c and if one shot took him out it wouldn't seam right either.

Thanks for watching and for the great comment!

  • Still, it was a very enjoyable movie. And you must be happy that two of the main cast from Farscape joined the show! If we get two movies a year I would be extrememly happy. But, I would be tempted to trade up if we were offered that or one huge high budget Theatrical Film over 2 hours long. But its the small things that would make the movie feel more epic, for example...

  • I agree! That did seem out of place and odd to me too! Jack would never grab a Goauld, he would shoot a Goauld...but remember the earlier episodes when a goauld could just jump out and enter another host...yah...I would always be at least 10 feet away!

  • you say the show prides itself on toning down its adult material but TBH I think they regret not being able to show more, inhibited by TV watersheds. The uncut version of 'the children of the gods' (the first ep) has full frontal nudity and swearing I think its rated 18 (R in us) her in the UK.

Yes very few other episodes have anything close to this, thats why im sure they enjoy the opportunity to add adult content back into Stargate.

PS: I loved it, and will be getting it on blu-ray! :D

  • What's interesting is that they are right now re-editing the original made for TV movie/pilot "Children of The Gods"...they are getting rid of the nudity. I don't remember any swearing, but I'm sure they'll be getting rid of that too. They say they want a more everyone friendly piece of programming. I guess thats why I found the violence with the slicing people apart so out of place, because I just read that they are against it!

    Thanks for the comment!

  • I thought Continuum was excellent - much better than Ark of Truth. You get to see Baal and Quetesh in all their evil glory, and the story was much more interesting. 4 stars.

  • I completely agree, it was far superior in every way and I give it 4/5 as well. My review was meant just to nit pick at all the little things that held it back from perfection. I acknowledge that they did wonders with a microscopic budget, but I wanted to show how it surpassed Ark of Truth, and how it didn't. Thanks for watching!

  • Dude, Star Trek is badass! I can't believe you are bashing it

  • Nice review. And good of you to mention Don. RIP.

  • R.I.P. Don.

  • oh mi jebus it's not the matrix, what do you want out of them? They're not going to be able to give you frickin amazing scenes and fx. But I totally agree that Stargate: Ark of Truth, fell well below my expectations, and another thing, this is a Stargate: Continuum review, not Ark of Truth, sorry

  • My gripe wasn't the special effects being bad, so much as them being absent. Why don't they show us the Arctic weapon being targeted and destroyed? Why don't they show us a unique flagship for Baal? These things wouldn't cost that much more. They don't have a time limitation like on television, yet they still shoot like they have to cut to commercial!

  • Plus, I didn't review Ark of Truth before-hand, so I figured why not do a comparison? And how could you talk about this movie without mentioning the other? They were filmed back to back, with the exact same budget and released months apart.

    Anyways,

Thanks for the comment and for watching!

  • u do a Response on my Video Stargate: Continuum it did it be for u did lol and i have toys of Stargate from the old Movie

  • First off, good review. I agreed with many of your points. That antarctic weapons platform, or lack thereof, pissed me off as well.

    Spoiler Alert!!!

Also, i liked Stargate's way of solving time paradoxes by saying they're going to alternate realities and changing stuff there. But here, they just solve that ENTIRE paradox with a single sentence... the whole, we were in the wormhole-bit (i don't remember the dialogue sorry)

    Anyway, good review, good movie.

  • You can watch full length good quality of Stargate: Continuum (2008) movie instantly free at

  • lol...I meant....decimate in terms of killing all living things from orbit. Not just blasting relatively small holes all over the place.

In the first season finale two ships were terrifying....here there's dozens...

    Thanks for the Comment!

  • "Didn't they convey at one point that merely one goa'uld mothership can decimate an entire planet?"

Actually, no. "Normal" goa'uld ships were nowhere near that powerful. That was specific only to Anubis' ship in the episode 'Full Circle', and only at the end once his new superweapon was completed. And then SG-1 destroyed it in the next episode.

The damage we saw the ships do in Continuum is consistent with what we've seen these ships inflict on other planets in the TV series.
