well i think its safe to say the writers didnt consider jacob would have been part of the story, remember this was 2 years ago!

also, if you listen to the season 1 dvds one episode they talk about writing season 6 (now season5) 's episodes and how they need to plan the episodes leading up to it to avoid continuity.

also, remember when they said that wev seen jacob before but in a non speaking role?

no they dont. they always hev to plan ahead for everything. the writers make the scripts faster than they make the eps. also it goes by way too fast to see if it is a bench.
