just so sad such a great railroad full of history and, now its in our hearts forever to be remembered as one of the greatest railroads in our nation's history 5 stars!
The Stuff in your route is nice. Where is the other stuff like the coastal division and some of the equipment like the mighty quill drives and the 4-8-4 northerns? I have trs 2010 and a lot of the things that should be included in the MILW, are not.
One of the Wikipedia articles outlines that the MR once had a calculation done by General Electric about the costs of modernisation of all electrical equipment including new locos, substations and the complication of the trolley wires all the way through the non electrified gab between Avery and Othello. It all would have caused an expense of 38Mill$. But general Electric made a special offer below that.
Also this would have prevented the expense for new diesels required due to the increasing traffic. After all the MR would had to spend about 15Mill$ into this modernisation, but they just continued there plans to do away the electrification, which caused the cost of more than 38Mill$. for the required diesel like a new fleet of SD40-2 and even larger units to replace the electrics.
If this mistakes would have never been made – may the MR would have survived through the oil crisis until the prosperity of the RR marked in the middle of the 90’s. On this way, the MR may would have survived even in our day, per haps as a part of a bigger company after further mergers.
The MR probably would operate a mixture from electrics. Per haps modernized Little Joes together with new units equipped with modern 3 phases AC traction motors supported and controlled by a modern package of high power electronic, like provided by several suppliers of electrical locomotives mostly situated in Europe.
@trainzume , What kind of European electric locomotives would Milwaukee Road would use besides Little Joes and E60s? What would their logo would be like in 2010?
Dude, I couldn´t have done it better, congrats. BTW, are there any plans to rescue this line and make it touristic or something similar? You know, with steam trains or historical trains...
That´s crap, we have here in Spain the same situation with old unused railways, they´ll just transform it into a "green railroad", you know, with bike lane instead of a railway track. Stupid polititians are everywhere...
@boleamj yeah i just wish it woulda been saved ..... i bet the milw road 261 would still be running on it with the hiawatha and same for milw 265 :( its is a shame what the economy can do to american and all railroads but on the bright side there are some steamers running today ...... including 261 she is being rebuilt i think then gonna be ran sorry to hear even spain has rails to trails :(

Can´t you make webside with your routes, trains, cars, buildings and trackside things. So other people can download it WITHOUT buying trainz 2010.
