One of the greatest live performances from anyone.....whether you like the "Boss" or not you gotta give him creds....he could blow back in the day....thanks Bossfan....this song is in my archive...
I was there. Saw three that summer - Nassau Colliseum, The Garden and the Capitol. Nassau was the best maybe because it was my first but the story during Growing Up was the best and that night during Spirit in the Night, he swam out on top of the people about 50 feet from the stage. Gets all the way out there, stops the song, and then yells "Hey! I'm Trying to work here!" What a riot!
Not one dislike....incredible...I was living in Bridgeport and drove with my friend to the concert...some of his best work ever....was during the 77 to 79 period...I still remember this song as if I was hearing it live on that day so long ago....good times....
@norabauer758 Official release would be great, but in the meantime, there are plenty of places online to download high-quality MP3 bootlegs of this and damn near all of the other great Bruce shows over the years. Free of charge. All you need is to download WinRAR to unzip the files, and that's free too.
Being a Bruce fan my whole life, and seeing every tour since The River, this is truly him and the E Street Band at their best....If I could go back in time, it would be to this show....RIP CC... There's nothing like experiencing a Springsteen show in Jersey when you're from Jersey..Just doesn't get any better.

i have posted here before, b/c i truly love this song as my all time fav. song. its been that way for many years now. my local radio dj played this song today on the radio, this verison, in all its glory, b/c i requested it. it was the greatest moment of my life, bar none. bar fucking none.
There are better guitar players, better singers, better songwriters ..... but NOBODY with more passion. Bruce looks like he's playing as if he just about had everything that he had worked for taken from him .... and as if his career was in limbo for two years .... and playing like a man who is damn sure the boss now.
i love the "darkness on the edge of town" album, but this is one song that always seemed a little unspectacular to me...until i heard what it sounded like live. this version has to be one of the absolute best. i wasn't born yet in 1978, but man...i would kill to have seen bruce on that tour. the whole band was on fire.
Yore not going to see better performances from Bruce unless they were done in New Jersey Passiac New Jersey 1978 Home for the Boss!!!! Danny was awesome on organ the ending jam between them was beautiful real love there. RIP Phanthom Roy was also awesome on Piano
Well I lived in New Jersey for along time and believe it or not I was at a diner in Eatontown with my wife. Bon Jovi was at a table a few booths away. The waitress came up and said you know thats Bon Jovi I got his autograph what she said about the tip I wont repeat. My response was well he isn't Bruce Springsteen. The Boss always brings it all. Rest in Peace DF you rocked !!!!!!!! The E Street Band is missing an ANGEL now

I'd sell my soul to the devil if he could transport me back to a front row seat in Passaic's Capital Theater on the night of 9/19/78.

Will that Esquire - Tele go with Bruce to his grave or the Smithsonian? I hate to think of the day, but just saying.
