  • Achingly beautiful...but I think 301250 may be right about this version being a bit cold.

Anyone who likes the films of Powell & Pressburger, and knows A Canterbury Tale, will recognise in the marvellous film music of Allan Gray, a lovely musical motif that is clearly derived from this movement.

  • love Brahms, but he was the evident Schumann¨s epigon...

  • At 2:57 - what do you think of this section?

  • @bonnmystic

    It's very moving to me.

  • Not a patch on the one by the Cleveland orch. with Szell. A bit cold this one.

  • Thank you, mahlerite. This piece is my favorite symphonic work by this composer also. He simply allowed himself to feel, the way he did at the piano, and didn't try so hard to be a great symphony composer.

  • Happy Schumann's Anniversary Year to all the people who love Schumann' music!!

  • Love it so much *-* Oboe the best =D

  • Magnifique!
