@xXDEPTHROATxXX Bea Arthur wanted to leave the series and move on, hence why they ended The Golden Girls and created the spin-off without Dorothy. (having Bea Arthur return as a guest star every so often). In my opinion Bea Arthur leaving ended any possibility of a successful spin-off. Dorothy was too big to lose as a character on the series.
