  • not only is Kirk a movie legend, but a HEALTH legend as well. I mean, he's 92 here and walks straight and confident without a cane. His speech isn't the best, but understandable. That's a terrific feat after a stroke. Not many people live up to 90 nowadays, let alone have the strength that Kirk has

  • When he tells his son he is proud of him I weep like a friggin baby

  • I cried watching this video! i mean, Kirk Douglas was a man with such an amazing personality, panache... unbelievable charisma. I remember his amazing personality from some of the best movies ever made like Paths of Glory and I cannot help but feel sad to see him this way. Its Kirk Douglas, how could he ever be old. One of the few occasions I felt bad about time. What a great actor! RESPECT!!!

  • Respect Mr Douglas! from Italy

  • great respect mister douglas

  • Kirk Douglas the last of the giants of the big cinema thank you mister Douglas.

  • Kirk Douglas: the last giant. Greetings from Spain

  • good actors pop up through time, legends last 4 ever!!! God bless Kirk Douglas

  • the last last last great legend

  • grandi personaggi, thanks forever...

  • legend...

  • what a touching moments...

  • Leggenda vivente

  • so ist das überall wer Geld hat wird alt. seht euch den mal an

  • Fucking Americans have to applaud everything, interrupting a man when he's speaking about how proud he is of his son. They're a nation of fucking children.

  • Glad to see he got his speech back pretty well! Kirk is a legend!!!

  • Kirk Douglas. Great Actor, and even a greater human being.

  • The words may have trouble coming out, but, man, Kirk's sharp as a tack.

  • what a touching moment... even Michael was about to cry after what his father told him.... I would have felt the same thing if someone told me that.

  • Kirk Douglas....I really look up to you..Respect !!!

  • No matter the age all children want to be told by their parent that they are proud of them maybe even more then being told they are loved.

  • someone get that man some sundaes

  • Kirk is a great representative. And rare .... I Falluji

  • That basketball freak! LOL

  • Kirk Douglas,he is the actor.

  • The words we all long 2 hear .Your father telling you hes proud of you

  • these 2 great men are truly great artists. this moment underlines the profoundness of a great father son relationship. the fact fathers dont always tell their sons they love them isnt because theyre cold. its often done out of love. a father has to steer the ship all of his sons life and to be a ships captain takes a lot of qualities. but most of all you must inspire your deckmates. kirk douglas inspired michael just as he inspires the whole world x

  • @deniro999 good good

  • Beautiful. So moving....

  • IN MY OPINJIO KIRK DOUGLAS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST ACTORS EVER LIVED!

  • Please check out The Fat Cat Bankers by Tokyo Rose

  • spartacus!!

  • Jack Nicholson... Who? That basketball freak?

    hahahahaha... LOL

  • @ussnj62 He is one of the last legends of the old REAL hollywood era.

  • @Drummer891342 "who is this fucking old man ?"

A man who got the honor of the AFI Life Achievement Award before you were even an itch in your parents underwear. If you don't know his work, you have about a fortnight of movies to look through, barring sleep. Get to work!

  • @mkarnerfors ok ok :)

  • @mkarnerfors sorry dude my brother went to my account and started to do silly stuff -.-, I really admire Kirk Douglas, you wouldn't need to talk like that about my parents -.-

  • @Drummer891342 Well give your brother a scolding then... and tell him to start watching those movies.

  • @Drummer891342 He is the man whose movies you are not worthυ enough to watch

  • @ReturnedGrazzt you can say that if you want. But Michael inherited his dads talent and good looks for sure. Sure, he had many doors open to him because of his dad, but those doors dont stay open unless you put the work in, and have the Consumer appeal and staying power. Michael has done that and more. Kirk is a legend, But i think Michael has his own. that is an achievement in itself considering the shadow his father cast. Hard carving your own name after that. Give credit were credit is due.

  • @ReturnedGrazzt what? no! he's scary! There are lots of people who look better at his age

  • @ReturnedGrazzt yea well atleast michael is a great actor, despite getting everything handed to him.

  • @whipchops

Scuse me ? I think you need to dig somewhat more into the history of the douglas family.

  • He's always SO funny!:)

  • @ReturnedGrazzt You shouldn't knock Michael, he seems like a nice genuine guy, plus he isn't that bad of an actor, I forget the one film he's in that I like when he picks up some woman in the jungle and they arfter a jewel or something.

  • @nrjelley Jewel of the nile

  • @bowler8 Thanks =)

  • cute old Daddy

  • Go Kirk!!! Fuckin love him

  • @ReturnedGrazzt

    That's not fair with Michael...

  • God I love Kirk Douglas, when he passes away I'm gonna be really really sad. The man was the Stallone of his days, so rough and tough looking and made fantastic movies. Love you man since I was 7 years old and now im 31.

  • @faridrr Yea, this man is top 3 ever; Kirk , John Wayne and Clint.. The history would not be the same without these 3 on screen.

  • Is that Jeremy Irons?

  • @ReturnedGrazzt I dont agree with you on the last part :) Michael is a brilliant actor as well he has alot of talent, and that you can't get on a silver platter

  • legends both of them

  • @giorgossaris Tell it to the guy dragging him off stage when he was going senile during that lady's speech.

  • Maravilloso, gradísimo actor...al igual que su hijo.

Ha estado realmente simpático y estupendo en la gala de la entrega de los Oscar..

siendo tan longevo, Dios nos lo regale por muchos años.

  • @ReturnedGrazzt of course hes a legend and he age gracefully but come on Micheal doesn't have it on silver platter he have given a head start because of his father but that doesn't deny his own talent he achieve so much on his own if hes not talented then hollywood would have done with him a long time ago. His brothers would have been as famous as him if being kirk dougles son would give them easy success.

  • Its so moving and touching when it shows Michael Douglas after he says "i'm so proud of my son" :'(

  • @RichardElden lol you got marked as spam for stating a fact. Go youtube commenters!

  • What a humble and charming man. He still has the ladies chasing him even at his age. Totally courageous to recover after his stroke and he comes back stronger. What a legend and a real icon of the movie industry. He is a credit to himself, his family, fans and the movie industry. The crowd truly appreciate him and know that he is nothing short of a giant. We salute the mighty Mr Kirk Douglas.

  • @Water4Jeremiah You're an idiot.

  • I love Kirk Douglas, he's an amazing actor, one of my fave films when I was younger was Cactus Jack! =)

  • Why did Kirk have to show up drunk lol

  • @xtrmsprts Is that funny? Really?

  • @xtrmsprts Yeah, real nice to make fun of an old man...'cause its just sooooo hilarious, right?

  • @ChildofNemesis14 I just think it was unwholesome that he should have showed up after unloading two barrels of the ole' irish grandpa medicine. The man's not just old, he's sodden with liquor. god bless him!

  • Comment removed

  • I have the deepest respect for Kirk. What a guy. Impossible not to love him.

  • he cant talk

  • I love kirk!!

  • Props to the Illusive Man, Ohhhh hell yeah.

  • When he said "I'm so proud of my son" I fucking cried.

  • @Maxisan even his son didn't cry

  • He's crying right there - the camera went away. Kirk Douglas is a giant of the screen. Even this year at the ocsars he proved he STILL has a sense of humour.

  • @xtrmsprts

    obvious troll is obvious

  • @gupsnot the only troll here is kirk doughlass, ruining everyone's evening by showing up on stage totally drunk and slurring his lines, speaking incoherently from the depths of intoxication , generally being a total embarassment lol

  • @xtrmsprts he had a stroke and learned to speak again. that's why he slurs

  • @raissamk or he's dead drunk on vladimir vodka

  • @xtrmsprts Ever hear about how extremely old people have health problems? Your statements are either clueless or you aren't nearly as funny as you think you are.

  • @Maxisan

    me too mannn

  • @Maxisan Oh my, me too. This whole thing is so damn touching.

  • @Maxisan

same here, I was weeping like a friggin baby. there's just something very special about a father's love for his son.

  • @ReturnedGrazzt True. But personal problems aside, Michael never squandered his gift or the gift his father gave him. I don't think I've ever seen either of them in a bad film. Which is why I still respect him and enjoy his movies all that much more.

  • @MrPaladino

Michael's always played a good part, but Wall Street 2 was a horrible movie

  • I present to u a REAL gentleman.

    He wins

  • adoro a los douglas!!!!!

    son imperdibles!!!!!

    un saludo desde argentina............

  • @VonLeenknecht We don't want them to. :-)

  • He´s a fucking legend! salute!

  • @ReturnedGrazzt gooder...wow

  • lol he's hilarious!

  • Forgive me but Christopher Lloyd was there! :-)

  • @Cml725 You my man. :-)

  • he didn't finish!

  • There's not a parent alive who doesn't want their child to do better than them, and a hand up to the bottom rung of the ladder does NOT constitute a silver spoon. It's a HAND UP. Michael Douglas accepted that hand up and has made a brilliant and honest career from that. Can anyone watch this and seriously think otherwise?

Mr. Douglas, you're quite literally in the top 10 actors the US has ever offered, and yes your dad's there too.

God Bless, and do us a favour? Keep the dynasty going?

  • @TNAWres1ing Rest in Peace? Hes not dead yet. Hes old but he isnt dead

  • @destroyer8604 Thankfully he has advanced stage IV cancer though.

  • Jack Nicolson? that basketball freak? What a legend.

  • @ReturnedGrazzt a silver platter? hhm. i don`t think, that it was that easy for michael to grow with a idol as a father "above him". maybe he had the "safety of money" . but to become someone in the same buisness, was for sure difficult..

  • He looks like he could still draw quicker than anyone.

  • @ReturnedGrazzt for sure its not easy for Michael to fill Kirks shoes, But even though it seams he has his career given to him on a silver platter, Im sure its not that easy. Movies is a huge business you have to watch your steps. You easily can fail in Hollywood or he could have just laid back and be a bum. Getting up there from nothing is a huge achievement but staying on top is not a piece of cake either.

  • jesus look at his ears

  • Kirk Douglas is a fucking legend !

  • @olivetribe well said...maan..well said...i miss my paa...i havnt talked to him in a long long time...ego or whatever people call it...i guess u r right...life is too short to be mad at the most important people in ur life...

  • 94 years old... and still going.

    Best regards, Kirk. Best regards.

  • I mean, I dare anyone not to admire such an amazing actor... and not to cry while he's saying he's proud of his son...

  • @ReturnedGrazzt well michael got it handed to him, and he made good use of it, instead of just relaxing of his fathers money he went on to build his own career and now hes another respected figure in hollywood next to his father

  • He's amazing ¡¡¡ love him

  • @ReturnedGrazzt yes but he proved to be talented as well, a name isn't enough;

  • @juanmacready

I hope kirk will outlive you,you insensitive prick.think before you type

  • @JuanMacready I hope you dine in hell

  • @JuanMacready What kind of person are you? I see your mean comments all over youtube. Many people wish the same for you.

  • @TNAWres1ing he's not dead

  • LOL You GO MAN! That was awesome (and tears in my eyes too!)

  • no matter if you are a famous actor, president or nobel price...if your father say "I ´m so proud of my son" the tears will start to flow...

  • Walking legend I would say

  • The last 20 seconds, wow heavy stuff! :')

  • forever kirk

  • he's real name is Issur Danielovich demsky, is almost 100!!!!!! wow god bless him

  • Plain and simple: A Great Man.

  • tears in my eyes.... what a tough bastard that Kirk

  • @ReturnedGrazzt That's right. Also I bet Kirk is gald he quit smoking at only 33, unlike his son.

  • LOL, my aunt once met this guy. He is so tall up close & personal.

Anyway, my college history-philosophy class is going to be watching his classic film PATHS OF GLORY

  • that is a great father and a great son

  • So touching! =*) Both men are fantastic artists in their field!

  • What is he saying in the end that makes everybody stand up?

  • @ThePreciousss Seriously I'm so proud of my son Michael, I don't tell him that very often... I am delighted for Michael.

  • WOW 94 and he can still walk without help!!! Incredible!1

  • Wouldn't it be cool if Kirk Douglas, who was born in 1915, and Ernest Borgnine, who was born in 1917, did a movie together? It should be along the lines of "The Bucket List."

  • @joshuabrooks21 Remember Ernest playing Kirk's father in The Vikings. Amazing How Kirk's older.

  • @pugilistofpower No, I'm not that old.

  • @joshuabrooks21 Your parents won't let you watch it? I think it's a pg13.

  • @pugilistofpower Borgnine had a beard.

  • @JuanMacready True. Everyone looks older with a beard. You should see my wife.

  • @pugilistofpower Kirk usually played younger than he was, he was already 42 when he played Spartacus.

  • I'm simply floored by some of the comments on here about Michael and his cancer. JuanMacready, how does it feel to be a lowlife piece of shit?

  • Michael Douglas always gets very emotional about his dad. He even started crying when his dad won a lifetime achievement award at the oscars .

  • @coloradoflier I wonder how emotional Kirk will be when Michael dies of cancer?

  • I can't recognize Kirk...

  • @May0unaize He looks a lot better than his cancer-ridden son Michael.

  • @JuanMacready Yes sure but what i meant its that he changed a lot, there's nothing about his face that i can recognize. :)

  • @JuanMacready you are not a nice person at all. Michael has more class and talent in his little finger than you would ever have in 40 life times. Learn some respect and gain some perspective.

  • @Kriti98 Making stupid porn films is classy?

  • i can't believe Kirk is gonna outlive him

  • @tdevil101 Kirk quit smoking in October 1950.

  • It's a big shame he had that stroke it's really affected his speech, but he's lived a long and good life though he's 93 and counting!

  • @2frey84 Yeah, at least Kirk isn't cancer-riddled like Michael.

  • Kirk is so charming and funny! His speech was so heartfelt it made me teary eyed!

  • Michael should have quit smoking at 33 like his father.

  • Both of them are really lucky to have gotten each other as father & son. Most people aren't.

  • Big respect for Kirk & Michael Douglas!

  • The greatest actor that has ever graced the celluloid...

  • he has major ear lobes, i am think plastic surgery would do the job. Did he wear earings???'

  • @neotorre2002 throughout your life your nose and ears never stop growing

  • Man that was amazing what a great tribute from your father. Michael must be so proud. Both him and his father are very talented.

  • Never knew Douglas produced Nicholson.

  • "I'm so proud of my son" and then he breaks up - so did I. Wonderful.

  • man that made me cry!

  • I hope that Kirk Douglas would turn 100 years old

  • I hope he beats Jeanne Calment's record of 122 years and it would be weird because he played Van Gogh and that woman actually met Van Gogh.
