I didn't see Buddhists or Christians protesting worldwide burning flags after the religion episode of South Park.

@NorwegianKafir Yea, I was quite shocked when the archbishop of England was saying that sharia law is "unavoidable" and was basically welcoming it. The church now is helping the whole process.'Interfaith' dialogue goes one way...Christians have to be seen to praise Islam, but Islam does not have to reciprocate (hence why Christians and other religious minorities are frequently persecuted and harassed in Muslim countries and it goes unreported, unless it is a Muslim being persecuted, of course).

From a scriptural viewpoint, there is no doubt that Islam is a religion from Hell. @Mrwilwak Other than that I obviously agree that atheism doesn't imply anything with respect to political views, but we'd do well to embrace the fact that we can lean on the Christian fundies in Europe. A large fraction of the atheists will not realize that there is a problem at all until its far too late, simply because they are unable to grasp the fact that religious people don't reason like secular humanists.

I think you read him wrong, because what he said was fairly accurate. Namely that the majority of atheists are pro-Islam. This would amount to nothing more than the ruling left wing parties being pro-Islam. Which would amount to a small majority. Overall, I'd say that Christians are far more ready to take Islam seriously than the average atheist - because they understand what "religious" means.

I have a simple, yet straightforward answer to the free speech problem. Get a few thousand people together with a few thousand bits of 2' x 2' pieces of cardboard with sticks attached as handles. Write, in large letters, "Free Speech or STFU" on all of them. March through your streets with said card boards hoisted high. This seems like a brutally dumb approach, however, if you think about it, this is something you might tell a guest in your home if said guest attempted to limit your freedom.

Europe is a nice place, a GREAT place to visit, on vacation. But I would not want to live there. No matter what it is, the Europeans always get it wrong. They go from one extreme to another. From Nazism and Fascism during the 30s and earlys 40s, leading to genocide and World War II, and now to "hate speech" and "holocaust denial" laws where one cannot even express an opinion. You watch - these dumb laws will lead to a backlash, and Nazism will return one day to Germany and Europe. You'll see.

I agree we should fight against this, but only for sake of freedom of speech and secularism. We should NOT turn this into a holy war (Christianity vs Islam) or a race war (Native vs Immigrants). @chubby987 Actually, there is a lot of opposition to Islam from athiests, Jew, Buddhists and Hindus as well as Christians. There are a lot of valid reasons people feel society is threatened by Islam. No other minority asks for privileges the way many Muslims do. No other religion has a complete legal system like Islam (sharia - 85 sharia courts are running in England at the moment). I didn't see Buddhists or Christians protesting worldwide burning flags after the religion episode of South Park.

I am optimistic. More and more people learn about Islam. But if you look at the demographics in Europe, it may very well be too late anyway. Democracy may be our downfall.

@NorwegianKafir Yea, I was quite shocked when the archbishop of England was saying that sharia law is "unavoidable" and was basically welcoming it. The church now is helping the whole process.'Interfaith' dialogue goes one way...Christians have to be seen to praise Islam, but Islam does not have to reciprocate (hence why Christians and other religious minorities are frequently persecuted and harassed in Muslim countries and it goes unreported, unless it is a Muslim being persecuted, of course).

@bluedragon605 you are right. The problem with nearly all state-run churches in Europe is that they are heavily politicised. From a scriptural viewpoint, there is no doubt that Islam is a religion from Hell. So the archbishop of England is basically ignoring the Bible and act more like a cowardly (and somewhat evil) politician, than anything else.

@NorwegianKafir Yes, the church has proven as useful as a fork being used to shovel snow regarding the Islamization of many countries in Europe. Clearly the bishop welcoming sharia is being PC. I am sure all the PC people will suddenly realize what they have allowed toh appen when more and more sharia starts being enforced and it will begin affecting them more and more.

@NorwegianKafir The best thing that could happen to Europe and the rest of the free world is a lot more attacks by muslims on civilians like 7/7, Madrid and now in Sweden. The more westerners are killed the more the true face of islam Nazi's stand out. I haven't heard of one demonstration by muslims against violence against non muslims! We are fighting WW III, at stake is what millions of people died for in WW II ! The developed world needs to realize that islam is the enemy of our freedom.

@NorwegianKafir It's not whether you're a Christian and you're fighting against Islam. It's whether you're fighting Islam to reinforce your own religion. I think radical Christianity (and any other radical forms of religions for that matter) are a danger to society. If you're trying to replace radical Islam with radical Christianity then you are fighting for the wrong reason
I'm not saying I do fight Islam, I'm just saying this problem will not be solved if people fight religion, with religion.

@EvilPieMaKer If you look at Christians who try and get all political, they are violating the teachings of Jesus who they claim to follow. Jesus said his kingdom was not "of this world" and told people to give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar. Muhammad, on the other hand, was very much all for twining religion with politics and establishing a global caliphate. ......so Muslims who talk about Islam needing to rule over the world are following what Muhammad did. Islam is not like any other...

@EvilPieMaKer...religion in the sense that it is an entire way of life (with sharia law as the governing system), which is why some Muslims in Europe are trying to force their blasphemy laws, views, and special pleadings on all non-Muslims. This is why, in my view, radical Islam is far, far more dangerous to our future, because the teachings of Muhammad reinforce religion and politics, and because so many Westerners are actually supporting 'Islamicization'.

@Hottides Of course, I'm pretty sure radical islam is worse than most other radical forms of religion. However my point is that trying to fight it with another religion will not work. Instead the solution is to say 'hey' every religion is allowed to be criticised and you are not exempt from that. Or, no religious laws will be passed in our country, therefore neither will sharia law.
