Well...I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who has obsessed about this cereal. It was indeed the best of all time. Reese's Puffs have a similar flavor but not quite the same. They are however as close as you're going to get now. There was an unopened box on eBay once, which i seriously considering buying to eat. Probably would still taste good after 28 years. :)

@tawny123g I'm not getting on your case here, but...stupid why? It's just a marketing gimmick. Sure, maybe they could have come up with better shapes for the cereal pieces, like the actual E.T. character or perhaps bicycle tires in reference to the flying-past-the-moon chase scene, but branded cereals like this were never about what shapes the pieces were. They were about how popular the brand was and how delicious the cereal was. And this cereal was popular as hell and equally delicious.

Yep, you are absolutely correct! That's what I thought the first time I had it as well. It even has the exact same slight powder residue on each ball, just like ET had with the letters. Since they are both General Mills cereals, they are probably the same recipe, just made with balls instead of letters.

Oh geez, this was my crack epidemic for sure. And to those who are hoodwinked into thinking Reese's Peanut Butter Cup cereal is a good alternative, think again. Everyone who's wondering what made ET cereal so good and Reese's cereal fall short is this: ET cereal was a oat-based cereal (think Cheerios if they ever made a chocolate-peanut butter flavor. Reese's cereal is chocolate-peanut butter CORN PUFFS -- think Cocoa Puffs if it added peanut butter to their recipe.

@vfreytas EXACTLY!! And you are correct!!!...Everyone must be on crack if they seriously think the Reeses cereal compares to the E.T. cereal...I used to eat ET cereal religiously!! That taste...that peanut butter and chocolate taste was ridiculously delicious and addicting!! I have had the captain crunch peanut butter and reeses and some others, but they taste nothing like the original E.T. cereal!! I wish general mills would make this again or at least make it as a new cereal.

Whoever posted this commercial thank you and wow i am scared. when this cereal came out i was like 5 and i was scared of him and i wouldnt eat the e's and t's together i was freaking scared. its what reese's cereal is today. whoever did this it brought back good memories and bad memories wow.....oh yeah and i had the e.t. and michael jackson poster on my wall....talk about creeped out. i couldnt watch the movie until i was like 20.

no,no,no...reese's is nothing like it...there was something about et cereal...it was,without a doubt,the best cereal in history...it was such a great flavored cereal...honestly,the closest comparitive in taste is frosted cheerios...i know that sounds dumb,but it is the only modern cereal with a similar flavor...

there is not that distinct peanut butter chocolatey taste. and BTW, i DID hear that the reason how reese's cereal came about was that people wanted them to bring BACK ET Cereal and that cereal was the closest thing to it.
