Stop with the comments like "easy scratching" etc. There are DJ's out there who find these videos helpful. Anyway, caught this guys set at Hip-Hop Kemp last year and him and his partner killed it. Im trying to get a set there this year. Great festival.
i have a question...the chirp means u turn off the sound when the record goes forward and on when it goes backward, but...is my screen just wrong? or u turn on the sound when the record goes forward and off when it goes backward?
@CJ00014 it could be because he has the crossfader set in reverse so its gonna look backwards to you. Im not sure if thats what he has it set as I just figured I would take a guess and maybe help you out.
@CJ00014 All I did was loop about 16 bars of the beginning of Comin Thru by Chali 2na and just scratched over the top of it. Just search YouTube for chali 2na comin thru and you'll find a video by cybullek with the entire song.
Yo MR. Flux, my krew and I loved watchin' you, Rinse and Jamalski back in tha' day at home base, Oak town tha' best ever.. those who were there during that era, knows what's up.. fuck tha ney sayer's..
That's why the video is called "scratch practice." :) One always has to practice the the basics in order to become a master at one's love. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace and music, Flux
I used a song that was REALLY slow. I think I used something that was like 88 BPM and then slowed it down with the pitch control. Once you learn at that tempo just slowly increase the tempo. I can do double time up to about 110 BPM now. Still working on getting faster
just one quick question...do you use the volume or crossfader to scratch like that?..which one is better? the crossfader or the volume( or gain level it think is almost the same)
I almost always use the crossfader. Depending on the technique you want to achieve there are times which one would use the volume/channel gain level. Depending on your mixer the channel volume will gradually increase which wont allow for nice crisp, clean cuts. Most crossfaders have a curve adjustment that will allow for those nice crisp cuts. Thanks for the comment
Keep it up man, you'll just keep gettin' better, It's all about practice, practice.....and more practice, good job though you have the concept down now just need to work on gettin' real comfortable with those new techniques you just learned.
good job man, i'm working on my double time chirps right now... just got my 1 and 2 click flare down... but still working on getting some variations in them... that will come in time =] good luck
Thanks. Im playing the other track with Serato on internal mode. I then just take about an 8 bar section of the song Chali 2na Comin Thru and loop it with Serato. I have 2 turntables but was just using one in this video

The 909 is the bomb. I bought one after talking to Annalyze. She loves them. I can see why
