That was a tough group, especially for a little country like Wales, who had still made the 1/4 finals of Euro 76- the Czechs had won that tournament. It was Joe "hand of the devil" Jordan who saw Scotland through to the world cup in the crunch match some idiots in the Welsh FA chose to play at Anfield, and the tartan army descended..
In 72/73 Scotland got the Czechs and DENMARK not Wales. Just the vagaries of the draw. Just like why did England get drawn against Poland umpteen times in qualifying tournaments and why did they get Croatia twice in a row. These things happen.
Its not Jordan v Czechoslovakia. Im not sure that Jordan have even got a football team. Its SCOTLAND v Czechoslovakia

Was at the match when Jordan scored. I was about 15 at the time. Really good team in 1974. Don't think we'll see their likes again!

Why did Scotland draw the exact same teams between 1972/3 and 1977?
Wales and the Czechs.

Actually it was Denmark and czechoslovakia in 1974 prequalification for Scotland; Wales were in Englands group with Poland
