I can say I actually used to use the heavy plasma on every mission... but now I have to say taht I only carry one per mission for fire support (2 for bases) just due to the fact that the accuracy is pitiful (All that damage won't help you when you can't hit the damn alien.) I have found Plasma Rifles to be a suitable alternative... may have to make a video myself.

I see you removed your other silly post. I do find the "survived an artillery strike" kinda revolting since I was deployed to Baghdad and saw many people killed by rocket and mortar attacks.

And I am not talking about saving at the start of a mission. I am talking about saving every turn of a mission (especially early in the game) so you can reload if any good ones die.

I find this game is only fun when you DON'T use the horribly overpowered Plasma Weapons or Psi-Amp. Blaster Launchers I can't resist, though :D .

I don't know, I'm not a big fan of impairing myself in order to make it challenging. Part of a challenge is to give it all your best.

Which means: I prefer TFTD to not using all the good stuff and saveloading all the time instead.

Why do you need power/flying suits for people who sit in the back and MC aliens all the time?

The 270mil can also be achieved. If you got manufacturing bases who make tons of money from making blaster launchers or lasers. Plus the loot from assaulting alien supply ships.

Maybe he used exploits such as transfer expoits and such. But why one would need 15 avengers (and indeed, how to fuel them) is beyond me. Firestorms suffice if you got so many bases around the globe.

Probably way too late to say this but, if you patrolled the area around the base with a craft you probably would have found that the Ethereals just happened to build a base right next to it. (or even on the exact same spot, that has happened to me) I've never seen a supply ship heading to a base controlled by a different race.

I don't think it matters if they are snake men. You should be able to catch the commander all the same. Also I wouldn't bother with stun rods they only provide a short ranged attack. Much better to stick with stun bombs. Get your men in flying suits as opposed to power suits. Remember you can increase the movement speed in the tactical options

It's very easy to make that much money. Five or six bases making 400 Alien Alloys a month and selling them on makes a lot of money. Not to mention selling all the alien corpses and tech you get from missions.

Alien Alloys? Have you read the F.A.Q? (I don't see why you should do the calculations yourself, since Kasey Chang & others have.)

You can mass-produce Motion-Scanners early on in order to recruit more scientists. Laser cannons, while the most profitable, have a higher startup cost and take about two months' total worth of research to produce.

HWPs are a joke until you get the hovertanks, and I'd rather have my soldiers get the benefit of every kill.

almost 2 years into the storyline... 270 million is not much really... ive been playing this game alot and the only thing i found strange was the number of missions on some of the soldiers... too low for what im used to. I usually stick to the first team i start with at jan 1st 1999 :) had a few soldiers with 1k kills and such. anyways.... best game ever. no question about it.

1k kills? thats amazing. this was the first time i played so my troops paid the price of my novice (RIP). one way the game would be cooler is if you added a very GTA element: allow the player to attack cities at will. this would be a great way to train soldiers and retaliate against countries that side with the aliens

if you only get 1 Avenger, its pretty bad to manage the large number of HUGE alien vessels you have to face later on the game. They always cause massive damage on every craft... and on the Avengers they cause at least 20% damage.

I am on December 1999 and I have 3 Avengers, 1 Firestorm, 1 Lightning and 1 Interceptor.
