Pippa will join Reptar under his heating lamp and than he will climb on top of her. It's the funniest/cutest thing. Plus, they follow each other around the house. All of my friends are completely amazed by their relationship.

@supersanchez1991 I got mine from a local breeder at swap-meet and range 20-50 bucks heat of course, no heat pads or they will burn they dont feel heat in their stomachs, handling minimal and introduce them with other iguanas early, no female with to males the males alone will do just fine, yes they are easy to take care of and dont listen to those people saying they are for experienced reptile keepers they make great pets, my iguana(betty) was my first reptile ever, sorry for so many answers

My iguana is as big as yours, but you should not give it cat food, it will damage it's kidneys. Iguanas are vegetarians and the protein on the cat food is bad for them

Iguanas if they need to can teach a cat respect its called tail whipping and I can personally tell you from experience that it hurts like hell. I have never seen my Iguana tail whip any of my cats in fact they actually hang out together which is surprising to most people. I have had my Iguana for over 10 years now.

Not to sound as harsh as the previous comment but he does have a point. Cat food has animal protein and that can destroy an iguana's liver. I had an iguana for 16 years, and she had to have a 2000$ surgery because she almost died from liver failure, which was the direct result of too much animal protein. The more you know....
What a beautiful and vivid green iguana!They're very cool to watch when they're active. We used to have some over 20 yrs ago and our cat used to like to cuddle next to her. Wish we had a video cam back then, but they were pretty pricey back in the 80s

The size is good, but I'm always careful with mesh or screen and a young iguana. They often tend to rub their noses against the mesh trying to get out or just go exploring. This can lead to a condition called rostal abrasion (or a cut nose). That can cause scarring, disfigurement and even infection. You might be able to line the lower parts with somethin like plexiglass though. Good luck! Feed him plenty of collard greens! No lettuce! Do LOTS of research!
This is super ig, pretty good tempered if he/she puts up with a pair of cats. Very lively, slim, yes but like you say he/she's young & store fat on their tails, A FAT IG IS NOT A HEALTHY IG. My boy's 15 and gets animal protein once a year as a little chocy cake, but as a rule don't give animal protein, biologically speaking they can derive all their proteins from plant amino acids.
Just another question, u know mine is almost 2 years old, but still a little small for his age. I feed him as much food as I can, but he doesn't seem to grow that fast. I'm real confused!
I've found the same thing with my igunana. But I really rather him a little small that real big, because most owners over-feed and they get real big but die earlier.
Your iguana may be a female. They do not generally get as large as males. It's still quite young though. They grow fast while juvenile, but even though the rate slows as they age, they will continue to grow throughout most of their lives. My iguana is 17 years old and still growing!

I always said that cats and iguanas can live together...Watch the cat food, it can kill him, but he is young and looks healthy. Thin is in for iguanas, they store all their fat in the tail and...if sexually mature male, in the jowl pouches as a sex lure.
Everyone- that's not an overly-skinny Iguana. Iguanas don't "bulk-up" until they're around three years old. You can tell he's young because he's so green. He definitely shouldn't be eating cat-food, but a little once in awhile won't give him kidney failure. He shouldn't have it all the time, though.

As was advised on an earlier post, please do not let your ig eat the cat food (though they will definitely try to), as animal protein will damage the kidneys and significantly shorten the life-span of your ig. Just friendly advice. :)

You might be able to line the lower parts with somethin like plexiglass though. Good luck! Feed him plenty of collard greens! No lettuce! Do LOTS of research!

Type it into your browser. At the time of my writing this they are listing a red iguana for $175. There's a picture too.

This is super ig, pretty good tempered if he/she puts up with a pair of cats. Very lively, slim, yes but like you say he/she's young & store fat on their tails, A FAT IG IS NOT A HEALTHY IG. My boy's 15 and gets animal protein once a year as a little chocy cake, but as a rule don't give animal protein, biologically speaking they can derive all their proteins from plant amino acids.

Just another question, u know mine is almost 2 years old, but still a little small for his age. I feed him as much food as I can, but he doesn't seem to grow that fast. I'm real confused!

I've found the same thing with my igunana. But I really rather him a little small that real big, because most owners over-feed and they get real big but die earlier.

Your iguana may be a female. They do not generally get as large as males. It's still quite young though. They grow fast while juvenile, but even though the rate slows as they age, they will continue to grow throughout most of their lives. My iguana is 17 years old and still growing!

By the look of his skin and head.... HES A SUPER HEALTHY IGUANA. Good job man :).
O and if you dont no what i mean:
1)a light,white head of an iguana means hes relax and calm.
2)his skintone is super green so he has a very nice diet.
Mine is super green too but hes to mad at me and his head is black(which means hes angry)

Your the one who should get a life, if you are annoyed by the comments then don't read them, I think he sounds like he knows what he doing, but people are giving him advice so he can have a healthy pet. More iguanas will live longer if people learn how to take care of them! Oh yeah and learn how to spell iguana.

I always said that cats and iguanas can live together...Watch the cat food, it can kill him, but he is young and looks healthy. Thin is in for iguanas, they store all their fat in the tail and...if sexually mature male, in the jowl pouches as a sex lure.

Everyone- that's not an overly-skinny Iguana. Iguanas don't "bulk-up" until they're around three years old. You can tell he's young because he's so green. He definitely shouldn't be eating cat-food, but a little once in awhile won't give him kidney failure. He shouldn't have it all the time, though.

Pretty ig you have there. The cats seem quite entertained by him/her. ;)
As was advised on an earlier post, please do not let your ig eat the cat food (though they will definitely try to), as animal protein will damage the kidneys and significantly shorten the life-span of your ig. Just friendly advice. :)

I thought that may have been the case, especially since you picked him up & moved him away from it. The cats were probably thinking, "hey, what is this crazy green thing doing running around here and eating our food!!" LOL.
