Gertie Millar was born in 1879 and would have been about 36 at the time of this recording. A great actress and singer of that era.
To take a bus from Chalk Farm to Camberwell Green nowadays, you would be lucky to make it under an hour and most of the time you would be stuck in traffic. Gertie is lovely, isn't she? She ended up as the Countess of Dudley, and her country house in Worcestershire in now a romantic ruin.
