@conteststardawn grieg intended that however i do feel he wished for half pedal as well and more of clearer break between letting go of pedal and holding it again for the next bar.the left pedal is clear, however i can also imagine a late impressionist using the debussy pedal, just having sum fun with this piece makes it really awesome. every1 whp probably uses it for the wedding shud tell the pianist and how it should be played and especially the pedal
I guess everybody needs to find his own way of playing this piece. The tempo changes in the quiet middle part was too much for my taste, but apart from that, i admire deeply your piano skills, the interpretation and the clean recording.
My sister had this at her wedding - it was a favourite of my late mother's and when we finaly found out what it was called we were really pleased. You play it beautifully.
Although the tempo in this version differs from Grieg's original composition, this piece's sound is full and rich. It resonates through my heart and mind. Thank you for posting this for us!
@Glinkaism1 Pardon, but would you mind keeping your crude comments to yourself? Here we have a beautiful song going on, and you really ruin the whole thing for everyone when you talk like that. It makes people feel uncomfortable and ruins the mood and feel of the song completely. I thank you for your respect and courtesy of others values and feelings in the future.
@Glinkaism1 You know at least I CAN and DO respect other people, unlike YOU, who is vain and selfish; I'm also willing to bet that you feel all high and mighty here because your not really talking to me face to face. In my personal opinion for people like you, ESPECIALLY you, your a dick, piss lick, AND a fag. Get some manners, lose your cocky ego, stop thinking everyone should bow down and kiss your butt, gain respect and courtesy for others, and stop embarrassing yourself by acting like a dick
@Glinkaism1 While listening to this, I read your battle w/hereticsongoku. You conduct yourself well, while hereticsongoku conducts himself, assuming it's a him, like a homeless tramp drunk on mouthwash arguing across a filthy alley. Well, there'll always be these sort of people, and their crap-slinging is simply a verbal expression of the ape response to things - slinging their feces at anything they don't like or are intimidated by.
@velvetviolette I so agree. Most perfs. of this are played far too fast (for my liking). This is the best one for getting the temp correct imho. It also allows time for the sonority and resonance of these beautiful chords to linger...
btw Grieg himself played at an incredibly fast temp. Strange that because I'm sure it spoils it..

Too much pedal. Takes the joy out of the song.

I do like this pace quite a bit, but a lot of the staccatos were barely existent. Playing them would have been a nice addition, in my opinion

It's a beautiful performance ! This piece is often played too fast, and it's much more moving with a slower pace ! Thanks for sharing !
It reminds me of the 6 months I spent in Bergen ... I visited Grieg's house twice ! :)

Trop doux à mon goût, je préfère les versions clinquantes, de suggestion orchestrale. On dirait que l'interprète est en train de déchiffrer...

Anyone who openly posts in a public forum such as youtube makes themselves open to comments from people freely speaking their minds.
If criticism bothers you so much, then go hide and don't post in a public forum. It's as simple as that.
Or as Harry Truman said, "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

I heard someone say:
"Grieg builds homes, while Beethoven and Mozart build castles"
Though Grieg himself play this twice as fast, I feel this is a very "Grieg-like" interpretation ;)
Thanks for uploading.

Really very, very nice. I liked that the tempo was slowed down, it let you savor the music and linger in it's beauty.

The last chord is my biggest problem. Make sure you are holding onto that chord until you release the pedal! Other than that, its pretty cool!

I like the pace of this one, actually. If you think of it as a wedding march, I can't imagine you'd want it too brisk.

@velvetviolette Au contraire! Play it like it has some balls. Why? After the royal wedding comes the royal screwing. HA! :)
