In Germany we call the 9,3x62 a "Middle-Cartridge", like the .30-06, .308, 8x57IS ore 7x64... Not too fast with a 232 gr bullet and very good from a roebuck to a deer ore moose and brown bear, and you can go up with the bullet-weight to 325 gr for "more"...
I really think this is much more humain than to shoot the same animal with a 5,6x43. The roebuck never felt anything, just into the dark. Very nice shot!!!
I don't want too sound critical, but what would induce you to video tape and then show you killing a 30 lb animal from 30 yards with an elephant rifle? Same question goes for the fox shoot.
@sneezersneezer First, I didn`t order the roe buck to come within 30 yards of my stand, second we have to shoot a certain amount of roe deer to prevent them doing damage to the forest. Also, a 9,3x62 with a hard and heavy bullets destroys less meat than a super fast small bore, but I guess You have never been hungry and buy Your food in the supermarket. If You can`t watch hunting viedeos just look mainstream TV or whatever You like.
@kibiinda Good call Mate. I used to be criticized for hunting Florida deer with a 444 Marlin. Same story, hard cast bullet, dead deer, little or no meat loss.
@sneezersneezer I don't want to sound critical either, but what makes you think that you use one caliber for each type of animal? You can shoot small game with 9,3x62 as well as you can with .222, .223, .22LR or whatever you pick. Your goal is to efficiently kill whatever you're shooting at, and don't spoil too much of the meat (or animal hide, if you want that) And as the author says, you can pretty much use any big game caliber for anything, as long as you use the right type of ammunition.

actually, the 9.3x62 is quite capable of killing an elephant, with the right bullet.
remember, when it comes to medium game, you can't kill them too fast, or too dead.
Faster kill, least amount of meat damage is what I am always after.
Why would it be OK to shoot one with a .50Cal Muzzleloader, which, in my loading, is quite a bit more powerful than a 9.3x62 with factory loads??
DRT, that is what it is all about. Little to no suffering.
