The comments about icy quality in Rachmaninoff, the scowl, the unhappiness, are not necessarily true, from what we know that Horowitz and others that knew him. Yes, he was usually serious and homesick for Russia but he was a warm person and could laugh heartily and enjoy a good joke. As for the performance, refer to Fiorentino's performance for a much better reading. this one is affected, too syrupy.

I agree, the tempo is too slow to keep the flow going. Rachmaninoffs recording i much faster and soulful. This one seems too academic.

Very beautiful, great delineation of voices, excellent speech! I also like this tempo.
