I pass by this clinic every morning watching cars go in/out these people are driving themselves here to get their dose and then they are off to work. You have to sell a lot of drugs to get to prison. If you have crack, 1st offence, a class D felony, you get to knock it down to next to nothing and get drug court.

Do the knowledge, the prison systems is a huge source of money in America. We lead the world in building jails and locking people up. We don't even have the most people or criminals and yet we have more jails than anyone, including 'developing' countries. Look at any state in the US, they are more likely to build a jail than a school, that's why poverty and crime is steadily increasing, but may go undocumented.

Mexicans are flooding across the border with NOTHING. They dont slang to feed their family. They work hard and survive without drugs. Im not saying they dont do drugs, but they have become they largest minority and they are managing to stay out of jail for the most part. They dont just let the govt pay their way. The Rockerfeller Laws were created awhile ago, by someone who could have been racist, and wanted it to be unfair for due to his own personal hatred, not for economic reasons. I don't see how getting all the black s in jail would benefit anyone. Also, the negative images you've described are being reinforced by none other than the black community itself.

Think of the costs involved in incarcerating hundreds of thousands of people. They're enormous.

And guess what, that money has to end up somewhere. You know where, in the pockets of those who run the system.

Financially, it makes no sense to lock up non-violent offenders for such long periods of time, unless you're in the small minority that reaps huge profits off the incarceration business.

There are profits being made in criminal justice. Million of young people were caught by war on drugs. I do not justify the illegal use of drugs.
