If there is a problem with over scheduling it is the responsibility of the techs and MANGLEMENT to address such issues . It is not the customers problem that the company over works their employees.

Why sympathize? He didn't work all night(Comcast only makes house calls during the day). It's unacceptable to sleep when you have to work, but inside someone's home is abhorrent! i understand both sides of this argument, but, i want to point out that there are other jobs you'd get fired for sleeping on the job. i have worked with at risk youth in a shelter, had a graduate level course load in school and been really tired, but i keep my professionalism intact and went the next day. i would expect that if i for any reason fell asleep that i should be reprimanded or even fired. when you get a job a certain level of performance is expected.

i work for comcast. when making appt's on the phone, i've seen them ranging from 6am to 7pm. doesn't mean there done at 7, means thats the last appt time. so poor guys.

Being a telecom tech is NO regular job. These guys work sunrise to sunset most of the time and most of the time don't even take a lunch or dinner to make appointments. How do I know? I WAS one. Ive seen techs miss births of their own children, b-days, anniversaries. I've seen techs work 7 days a week on mere hours of sleep for months missing time with their families. dont tell me about rationalizing if you havent EVER been in that position. This employee most certainly should have been fired. Sleeping on the job reflects heavily upon the company, which works hard to maintain a posative image. Employees like this need to be removed from the corporate system so that the integrity of the image remains intact. It's a smart decision. If there was a problem with the customers account he would have to call tech support. This could mean being on hold for an hour or two. Most of these problems are caused by retarded customers changing their minds and adding a different service when the tech showed up.

The difference is I have laid out many examples that the tech could've taken along the way, and all you come up with is just backing a guy who fell asleep on the job. I've been in the tech's position where I was very sleepy at work, and yet my choice was to take an early lunch to get some sleep in my car.... The tech had a choice.

I understand full well that he's human, and he has to pay the price for his human choice of not getting up when he felt sleepy. Regarding the workers in the medical field, the naps that they get in are done on their breaks, not in the bed of a patient when they become sleepy mid way through a treatment.
If there is a problem with over scheduling it is the responsibility of the techs and MANGLEMENT to address such issues . It is not the customers problem that the company over works their employees.

Why sympathize? He didn't work all night(Comcast only makes house calls during the day). It's unacceptable to sleep when you have to work, but inside someone's home is abhorrent! He could've done his job before napping, but instead of being professional, he chose to treat these people like a free motel room.

i understand both sides of this argument, but, i want to point out that there are other jobs you'd get fired for sleeping on the job. i have worked with at risk youth in a shelter, had a graduate level course load in school and been really tired, but i keep my professionalism intact and went the next day. i would expect that if i for any reason fell asleep that i should be reprimanded or even fired. when you get a job a certain level of performance is expected.

I can't say how I know this - but there is one dept in Comcast that he was holding for. That department's hold time can be 15 minutes, or an hour and 15 minutes. I completely agree he didn't deserve to be fired. But if he was tired, he should've stood up.

1. The previous video was supposed to express the unacceptable customer service of Comcast, but not the hatred feeling towards the sleeping employee.
2. I don't know how the man got fired. The previous video did not show his face, and I am sure everybody wears the same uniform as a Comcast uniform.
3. Why do some people blame the media about exposing facts? Freedom of speech is still one big foundation of America. Am I right?

aww, that poor man. he really got fired? most of these companies are utter crap though, we were on hold for 77 minutes to get our broadband back because they screwed up the bill. But no one can beat HSBC when it come to really crap customer service

Being a telecom tech is NO regular job. These guys work sunrise to sunset most of the time and most of the time don't even take a lunch or dinner to make appointments. How do I know? I WAS one. Ive seen techs miss births of their own children, b-days, anniversaries. I've seen techs work 7 days a week on mere hours of sleep for months missing time with their families. dont tell me about rationalizing if you havent EVER been in that position. This guy made one mistake and that was being human.

The original video was telling Comcast off. not the specific employee. If that guy is not getting enough sleep, it's Comcast's fault for not hiring enough FTEs. This video is lame. I guess I should sleep at my work and say how I tried to work and should get a raise. Stupid.

who ever made this video failed to read the problems listed near the end of the other video, and the fact that their own tech had to be on hold for 1 hour.
its great that the media blew this thing up, but its even better that they censored a news broadcast that showed the video.
its also nice to know that comcast is one of the compines trying to end net neutrality.

This employee most certainly should have been fired. Sleeping on the job reflects heavily upon the company, which works hard to maintain a posative image. Employees like this need to be removed from the corporate system so that the integrity of the image remains intact. It's a smart decision. Ultimatly, the only person responsible for his firing is himself.

You started out with a good opinion, but bringing in other extraneous things only brings to light your discord with the US. Why use this as a forum for you to pick only things that grind your behind. It's people like you who muddy a discussion to show that you're politically motivated. About the Comcast employee, even if there wasn't a video, he should be fired. It is to bad that it was so public for him, to be humiliated, but he had a choice not to fall asleep.

Both savesa and vita2006. I thank God that I live in the US, even with our difficulty. Try thinking about if you were born in North Korea, where none of those people can have the freedom of voicing their opinion online without fear of retribution. Try imagining if you were born in Darfur Africa and are now a refugee trying to survive. How can you complain if you were born in the US? We do have freedom. No country is perfect, yet so many people want to obtain their green card to move here.

Just think of all those workers forced into slavery in under-developed countries. Workers who don't get paid much for one days work. Do you think they would allow themselves to fall asleep on the job? They're under so much pressure to perform, and they don't have choices for the basic things that we take for granted. The Comcast tech was caught, and video taped. I'm sure he'd rather live and work here than to be a worker in an under-developed country as a slave worker without choices.

If there was a problem with the customers account he would have to call tech support. This could mean being on hold for an hour or two. Most of these problems are caused by retarded customers changing their minds and adding a different service when the tech showed up.

I am not preaching anything here, I have given my opinion the same as you have. I'm steadfast in my actions that I would not be so disrespectful to my employer. The difference is I have laid out many examples that the tech could've taken along the way, and all you come up with is just backing a guy who fell asleep on the job. I've been in the tech's position where I was very sleepy at work, and yet my choice was to take an early lunch to get some sleep in my car.... The tech had a choice.

I understand full well that he's human, and he has to pay the price for his human choice of not getting up when he felt sleepy. Regarding the workers in the medical field, the naps that they get in are done on their breaks, not in the bed of a patient when they become sleepy mid way through a treatment.
