AND the cyclic rate sounds to slow for a WW2 Era MG42.

I dont think a WW2 MG42 firing 7.92x57mm at 1200-1500 rpm could be fired from the shoulder BUT maybe a MG3 firing 7.62x51mm NATO at 700-800 or 1100-1200 rounds per minute depending on the Booster and Bolt could.

But Im no expert and may be wrong.

And during that barrel change was the only time the allied foot soldiers could advance on a german position, america even made specialized training videos specifically to combat this weapon.

and for the people talking about how slow the rate of fire is, the MG3 has different weighted bolts to raise or lower the RPM.
