@CressidaTussaud Andy Pandy - I never knew it existed till I did my research and found they made a remake when I was 12 (2002). It sucked compared to the old episodes.
Childhood memories. Loved the narrators sweet voice. Never forgot those voices, especially the hi pitched WEED. Its kind of weird really. Quite trippy in comparison to childrens TV these days.
@LiteracyLabyrinth Nothing to compare with this, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the Tele Tubbies aren't exactly straight. Strange coincidence that 'Potato Man' has an Irish accent though. Or.......?
Watched this and Andy Pandy in the 70's in Australia. Had totally forgotten. Am having the strangest feelings watching this. Deep nostalgia I suppose.
Have'nt read all the comments but was thier language called oddle poddle, and very young children supposedly could understand it. I can only understand what they are saying when I'm drunk.
I always used to think Bill, Ben, and "little weed" had been sampling a touch of another kind of weed just before the show started........... Or at least, the narrator, whoever wrote it and the guys doing the voice-overs.....
They were still showing this when I was a kid in the 70s when it obviously seemed incredibly twee. Factual error at 1:43 - in fact they're not lying, the weed is upright and Bill and Ben presumably wouldn't be able to maintain a recumbent position inside the pots
I'm 23 and my aunt bought me the video for my Christmas one year, and apparently it was all I would watch. Feels really weird watching it as I can remember, I loved Bill and Ben and I distinctly remember making paper lanterns constantly? I can't find that on youtube though! Does anyone think there would be any chance that it would be brought out on DVD? Probably a long shot but I would love to get it for my nephew!
I used to watch this about 48 yrs ago on a big valve TV the size of a fridge in black and white and with the picture rolling, there were only two channels and the TV programmes were only on at certain times in the day, the rest of the time you watched a test card, the TV programmes finished at 12 midnight to the sound of the national anthem, these were the only childrens programmes there were in the day time back then, but we were happy.
...i remember now, i used to stuff down my lunch fast, so ( i had to eat in the kitchen, where there was no T.V) i could watch Bill & Ben, I remember too, me lying down on the carpet and looking up at black & white T.V, with both hands under my chin watching them, 48 years ago i first saw them! I used to think Andy Pandy was for girls, haha. Never like to be caught watching AP if i was, i was laughed at.
Sorry that some people don't like this but for those of us who grew up in the early 50's , Watch with Mother was our regular viewing and Bill and Ben was the best. Who can forget old Slogalog (otherwise Slowcoach the tortoise).
i like the new one, but this is so enchanting, the black white gives the garden an impression of unfathomability. i remember watching this on video as a kid and being fascinated
I used to bloody laugh my head off a this programme in the 1960's. It was usually shown about lunchtime. Happy days watching it on old 405 line black and white TV.
My dad will remember this.

I used to find this ultra boring and depressing when I was about 4 yrs old, it's just so drab and uninteresting.

This show was the inspiration for smoking 'weed' or 'pot' and the entire psychedelic movement of the late 1960s.

I'm vintage '57 but oh-- I loved the Flower Pot Men, especially " Little Weed " Just listening to it, it sounds a bit like the " Goons".

No it was The Wombles. Is it just me or does the show (Bill & Ben) seem quite creepy - in a nice hypnotic way?

Apparently - the phrase 'Flob-e-dob' was used because it is the sound you make when you fart in the bath......
