  • una de las mejores canciones del funk

  • Give me more of this FUNNNNNNKY MUSIC RIGHT NOW!!!

D-Train are the BOMB - You are the one for me alright!!

Memories of being a teen in the 80's.

  • Paul Harcastle was involved in this classic ????? !!!! No wonder !

  • PAUL HARDCASTLE Pionneering the future

  • classic

  • I love me some D-TRAIN...........

  • I wish the music today would be like this.

  • I feel so young again. Original in 81, "D" meaning Disco, I do not think so, it was his nickname. It's so close to it at this transition time of music. A former Mtume member. PH did this in 84. Great work, thx for post

  • This is the kind of "disco" song that transcended the genre. But since it was ghettoized, it never got radio play, which it should have. Like Evelyn Champagne's "Shame" or the Earon's "Land of Hunger," it should have received much wider airplay. It's simply a great song.

Ah, the 80s. Glad I was around then....

  • great music i love it...thanks

  • haouhouuuuu!!! dtrain the best !!! i love that

  • i couldn't help but notice a few balloons in the way. must've been a new year's episode?

  • No...This is my birthday party...:-)

  • @Rosewalleyian ha! serious?

  • @katmusic2006

Yes of course......:-D......D-Train & Paul Hardcastle in my birthday party...Would be nice...More than nice my friend...:-)

  • This is around 25 years old and still sounds better than a lot of the so called dj Producer so called music I hear now,

Good luck with the New version of 19 Paul, I think it's so relevant now

  • You are right that it sounds better but you say it 'sounds better than a lot of dj producer music' which implies that there is new music sounding better than this? Please let me know what has come out that is better than this in recent yrs? This was a fantastic period for music and I don't think it will ever return to being this good. Cheers

  • You have truth unfortunately my friend. The knowledge counted in that time and the individuality. And what there is today?Media marketing..Dj a society's majority from this era obtains a substance. And the many teenagers think that DJ composed it...BUT Paul Hardcastle is never change.

  • muuuy bueno,se nota la manita de Paul en el bajo, jajja

  • What happend to music! This beat is street the vibe is deep the vocals are smooth man,80s funk and soul what mental tunes this should be number one now fuck that new rnb trash!

  • say whaaaat!!!

  • i never knew that was paul on this record!no wonder why i love it so.

  • Dude That d PAul right there :D hell yeah man!!

  • Still sounds great after all this time

LOVE IT, better than a lot of this So called Dance crap,

which wont be around in 20 odd years

  • this is paul Hardcastle's version.

  • C PAS DU DISCO C DE LA FUNK

  • I like D train's original better than Hardcastle's version.

But to be honest, I think I may like this mix the most. It's like combining the best of both worlds. Is there an actual version of the song like or is this just for the live performance?

  • This IS The Paul Hardcastle Version ???????????

  • Most of the nuances are from D train's version, but hardcastle brings his style when he plays. The solo isn't from either version. It also helps that it's D train's vocals. That's why in the beginning it credits D train - it's mostly his version, but this performance is enough of an original mix.

  • The Synth Solo in the middle IS By Paul Hardcastle, I have this Same Mix on 12'' , Also there is No Clav in the original

Version,, also this record was not a Big hit until it was redone by Paul, But obviously James Williams is the front man

It worked well for them both,

  • I know hardcastle brought the clavinet, that's why my original comment said it was a combinaton of both. It's msotly D train's though, and the popuarity of either version varies depending on where you live. They rarely play hardcastle's here.

Also, link please. I've listened to the 7 minue version and the solo wasn't in it.

  • If you listen to this with good headphones, the bass riffs and undertones are off the hook!!!!!!! amazing, and yea, this is not disco what the... this is foot the floor bumpin' club.

  • This is early 80's classic club music. If it was the disco era he would have 4 other guys dancing next to him in formation like the Tramps.

  • Dope.

  • Paul Hardcastle on the "keyboard thingy". LMAO. Nevertheless PH is pure talent on that thingy. I haven't heard one song I haven't liked. This is real music!!!!

  • Perfect example of he-male-disco! Every man is entitled to his half hour of D-Train a day...Stand Up from the crowd and shout out loud!

  • that riff that paul plays sounds like the riff from 'girls' by prodigy. but this song is like 15 yeasr older...great song

  • Prodigy most certainly got it from paul H. Paul has inpired a lot of awesome riffs!!!

  • this song is timeless, love it

  • a true classic!

  • What happened to the UK street soul scene? We don't really have anyone representing street music that's making it mainstream nowadays. In fact I can't name one credible black artist in the UK that's a household name. ;(

  • Yeh I suppose it really matters that a "BLACK" atrist makes the music.

  • I think its very important that any music inspired by african origin gets a fair share of the airspace. At present there is a notable absence in mainstream music in the UK compared to the 70s & 80s. What happened to reggae? Also, Lemar might be black but his music isn't. I don't care about colour at all but I want more music like this, REAL music black or white. If we are going to have a multicultural society then there needs to be a balanced mix when it comes to music too.

  • true words

  • Chi-town is in the house - steppers on the floor.

  • everytime this song was on...i was on the floor...oh 80's...so much fun!!!

  • in every jam, he's the fuckin' man. Paul...

  • One of the Best Dance records from the 80s

Paul Hardcastle, the best UK funk master ever,

not like all this pre programed crap done by DJs, who claim to be recording Artists,

  • What A combination D Train and Hardcastle,

Hard to beat this tune for raw energy,

He's just released the Origional Zero One album, check it on i tunes,

  • love this stuff,, iam a 42 year old white man who loves this music ,i have a new truck with a $3000.00 audio sysytem , this is the reason why ,,, i still beat down the block with this stuff .... com on !!!!

  • used to listen to this at a night club called 'Spencers' in Sussex. Long since bulldozed and is now the HQ for the Friday Ad newspaper :(

  • Reminds me of Dancing in the Clubs in Southport in the 80's Great song to Dance to

  • Takes me back to New York City in the 80's When you turn to either 98.7 kiss, or 107.5 WBLS.

  • this is so great! I love it!

  • great

  • Thanks truly 4 sharing this. This song is tops. This man had great vocals, not many with the same flavor and quality to their vocals these days....

your the one for me--what a jammin love song

  • Jammin'

  • OMG, it brings back some memories ..

  • rain forest is the bomb from paul hardcastle

  • d train...what can i say ..magic..

  • this is one of my favorite videos of paul hardcastle too bad d trains furthure wasnt as rosey

  • please someone send this exact mix i beg you....proper tuneage....contact me asap . thanks

  • Thanks for this post. When I hear music like this it makes me wish for a time machine to take me back to the 80's and do it all over again.

I actually met Paul Hardcastle a couple of times in Leytonstone East London before he left for the US. We had a small music shop there called Holiday Music. First time I met him I just walked in to try a Synth and there was Paul hammering away at a Korg M1. I thought I was dreaming. Of course I had to ask, to be sure. Paul is a very cool down to earth guy.

  • Paul Hardcastle is awesome. I love D-Train and never knew until today, that Paul played on the track. No wonder I love this song...makes me move!

  • Paul Hardcastle and D-train williams they should of done more songs together.

    Maybe 2009? they still active

  • They also did 'Music' (D-Train) another Paul Hardcastle remix.

It's on my channel. Similar feel and a great groove.

  • Wrong, Paul did a lot of overdubs on the track,

Synth solos and riffs, the origional was not a pop hit untill Pauls version came out 4 years later , that's why they did totp

I worked for the Record company he also remixed Music

  • your spot on with that mate

  • I'll ask again, I've been researching Dtrain band members, the bass player is obviously not hubert eaves, and thats the only name i can find. Please help! who is the bassist in this video??????"???????????????

  • Derek Chai, Peter quinton on drums

  • Thanks a lot!

  • All of D-Trains music was Produced, Arranged and performed by Hubert Eaves III, I went to school with his son Hubert Eaves IV who played bass and Dtrain....Believe me when I tell you, Paul Hardcastle remixed the song by no stretch of the imagination did he play....

  • Think you will find he Did,

    Compare the two different versions,

    Totally different Into's"bass synth"

totally different solos, also there was never any Clavinet on the origional,

Have a REAL listen then comment again

  • One of my favorites but you do not hear it on the radio often but here in Philadelphia they play it on Oldies '98 Bob Pantano Saturday night dance party (WOGL). His show has been on since 1977 and still playing classic disco and dance tunes. PH was an extra bonus but I guess it is not politically correct to play "19" on the radio in the States and I have only heard it played once in a club. --- Wawadelco

Sorry, accidentally hit the spam button. Why is it PIC? 19 was a great song!!!

  • @rclemente21

"19" is a great tune and highly underrated. It must not be politically correct to play it since you never hear it on the radio which is wrong. It's message is just as important today in reference to the Iraq war as it was as a commentary on the Vietnam war. The poor and young fight the wars for the wealthy and big business with what type of outcome? It amazes me as to how many people are not aware of who Paul Hardcastle is and what a gifted musician he is.

  • Ah, okay, well it's a great funk groove and Paul seems to know it by heart playing that portable keyboard.

  • Pure class! Does anyone know what the bass player's name is????

  • Derek Chai

That is why I had to get the 12 inch version.

  • such a good video man john peel as well nice!

  • This is Music!! Kids are missing out!

  • So true!!!

    The words alone are awesome

  • Where'e the time machine..

    Bring back da funk....

Memories of the Kirklevington (the Kirk) Country club (just outside Yarm)

  • the original 1981 mix was care of François Kevorkian

Paul Hardcastle made just a re-mix 4 years later...

  • more than a remix actually reproduced it and overdubbed the

    Keyboard parts etc

  • He also did a version of this with vocals by Kevin Henry on Total Control records.

  • I have his CD, "Hardcastle" and it is great. To me, that is the best CD that he has ever made.

  • Somebody out there must have the 12" which has a much better ending. Anyone remember the part where the music strips down and D-train starts the chant : "With the love I have inside of me we could turn this world around, we could live through all eternity and we'd never touch the ground etc."?

  • Yes...I have it...it is LOVE

  • Wow, I did not know that was Paul Hardcastle-I remember that song from back in the day, it was the jam!

  • I too remember dancing to this song when I didn't have kids and I NEVER would have put Paul Hardcastle with D Train!!

One of the BEST grooves from back in the day along with one of the Jazz Master!!!

  • Wow !!! este tema estaba en el primer cassete que me compré en mi vida jajaa que recuerdos!!!!

  • This song is the shiznet!!! DTrain was all that! "Keep On" was my song too. and I love me some Paul Hardcastle...his smooth jazz collection is incredible. He rarely performs live so it was nice to see him. He was keeping up with Dtrain too! Go on Paul!!!LOL
