@clifborder4fm Sure there are some mods done to the engine too, but not in this video. I have other videos too about this car. ;) It's a fantastic engine when it's in good shape ... it's a shame that it has some problems with cams. If you are looking this type of engine you need to look models 2003-> with engine codes llike BAU, BDH, BCZ, BDG

@bigdiffas how did you get the diesel sound to nicely muffled? Did you use insulation under the hood and around/in the engine bay? Or is it just the mufflers that keep the sound to a minimum?

@daizmiester I believe it's because I have stock nozzles attached on this video. With bigger nozzles engine runs bit louder.

It's modified after the turbo. It's hard to explain here how it's done exactly. :)

You just need few meters universal pipe, some different angle curves (15,30,45,90 degrees), correct flanges, welding machine, angle grindler, some small muffler(s). Then you need to measure and start put it all together. Sounds like you have no idea what you need to do, so therefore I recommend to turn to some professional workshop.

Well. There is no name for this exhaust. It's self made from universal pipes and muffler. :)

I'm looking to buy this model by the end of the year and at the moment looking at the market for one.

I see that there is a version with 163 horses and one with 180, how can I say which one is what?

Also is the manual or automatic better, any common problems with it?

I heard that the quattro system can be problematic sometimes...

@George150982 . Well B5 chassis A4 never had 163hp version of this engine. And you should look newer than 2003 to get better heads. BCZ, BDG, BFC engine is 163hp and BDH 180hp. If you wanna tune up your engine you should look for manual gearbox. If automatic - go for tiptronic. Common problem with the audi gearbox and torsen quattro is that you can't broke it. :)

I think you can do the same mods to your car. Only difference is that your's is quattro.

I'm not sure is there enuff room for the 3" pipe. At least in some quattro models there are two exhaust pipes instead of one to for better fitting.

I didn't notice any differencies on performance. Maf readings were littlebit better so you can say it helps breathing. I killed my economy with the 19" A8 wheels. :D

the only way to make a diesel sound good is to remove the cat or go straight to open headers...

what about CO2 emission on Car Testing? Is it passing without any problems?

On diesels they aren't metering the co2 levels, only the smoking level is metered. I just passed it with the result of 0.04 when newest cr 1.6tdi with dpf and other stuff resulted 0.03. :)

Just buy few meters of 76.1mm x 1.6mm pipe and start puting it together. If you had lived in Finland, I would have offered a helping hand. :) I think where-ever you from there are some dude who can help you out with welding and other stuff.

Engine is almost stock on this video...I think the turbo is changed to bigger one.

All engines sound different. I think that cummins would sound pretty sweet too on higher revs. See example Herlevi tractor pullers...

Universal 3" pipe from Motonet (misc supplies store in Finland) and flow-through muffler from the same store...I thinkt it's made by Simons.
